So Uchika purposefully left her daughter for her to truly experience the sport. I guess it's her way of saying "WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD!" Is it really worth losing your daughter's love to see her become a great athlete though? Eh, for Uchika, it probably does. She doesn't need Ayano since she already has Connie... YOU TELL HER KAORUKO! THAT'S WHY YOU'RE THE BEST! GIT GUD AYANO! Here we go with another last set final episode. And Ayano is getting that "abandoned" feel if she loses. I thought you were tough Ayano. I still haven't seen the rage yet! I expect she will lose anyway and start crying like a baby, but everyone's going to pull that "You're not alone. We're here for you," talk. Fine. But at least give us one direct confrontation between Ayano and Uchika. But I'm scared. I think when that happens, Uchika is just going to say "You got good.", and Ayano smiles and then they all go on their merry way. I don't know how this will end, but I doubt that I'll be satisfied with it... |

This anime could have been so much better if it was just a badmington sports anime with great animation. But nooo, the writers have to try and force this edgy psychological bs, which is obvioulsy above their level as writers. |

No, I’m sorry... It’s too little, to late, to try to make Ayano in any way sympathetic. She has been a psycho bitch, from fairly early on, and has just gotten worse and worse. And I don’t really care that it was essentially all Uchika’s fault. They’re BOTH rotten. But, y’know what? What I wouldn’t mind seeing for Ayano is what we saw for Nagisa, by the end of episode 2; She’d finally come back down to earth, and become humble and relatable. I’d very much like to see that happen for Ayano, as well. But only so long as Nagisa BEATS HER ASS!! |

Making Ayano(world class elite player) win against Nagisa(who's clearly nowhere near her level talent wise and playing on one bad knee) is dogshit? But making Nagisa win a set against her is realistic? |

One of the better episodes imo. Everything is finally coming full circle, I felt as if everything had meaning or carried weight (as it should) from characters. Side note: When a side character opens their eyes fully you know shit is real. |

Wait so that was what Ayano mom reason for abandoning her!? Come on here I waited this long for her to explain herself and that was her excuse ??? I know she admit it her being a failure as a parent but couldn't she even feel a little bit of regret for what she has done !!! After what she did to Ayano she thinks she can come home acting nothing happens and they can become one big jolly family again ?? NOT HAPPENING Next one is final episode and despite whatever is happening to Ayano and what she has become, I still want to see her win !!! |

Ayano vs Nagisa match is awesome that my eyes are so focus on their movements. It may be true that ayano > nagisa in skills but nagisa has able to win by using strategy plus the fact that the psyche of ayano is already losing her as she cant focus on the game well due to her emotional stress about her mother. Sometimes even a great player if having a hard time handling his or her emotions can affect the game.. Ohh im so excited to watch the last episode next week. Cant wait for it |

So Ayano's mother caused her kid to become mentally deranged after abandoning her without reason and she has no regrets? Lmfao aight Also seriously? Everyone's cheering for Ayano? She made her teammate cry and was being an absolute ASS to everyone. There's no way I could cheer for such a trashy person, that bitch deserves to lose. One episode left, can't wait for this bag of crap to be over. |

not gonna lie that the match was going thrilling with lots of sakugas (not to mention the animation drastically superior than the last couple of episodes) but overall really mixed feeling of the plot twists presented in this episode. I want this show to over quick or don't even feel like watching next episode but its too late to drop atm damn.. at least will be ok for me if the match ends up draw. |

The fuck is up with Ayano's facial expressions? She somehow looks way older with her face like that, which I did not like. And what the hell is up with the sudden mood change at the end of the episode? "Just do you best Ayano!" and all of a sudden things aren't so serious? Pretty cliche in sports anime if you ask me. And damn, what a shitty mother Ayano's mother is with the whole "Oh I left so she could get better at Badminton." I still hope Nagisa wins, she deserves it. |

I much more prefer this, above the writers actually trying to find a decentish reason (and fail with it, because there is no good reason for doing this). And afterall it does make some sense from her sportmaniac perspective, which we won't understand, because luckily neither of us is this much of a sportmainac. This show has been a 6 or 7/10 for me, and I doubt it'll really change. I feel as though the only development they really thought out was Nagisa's... Well, I don't know what true friend acts the way Elena does, and there is no way I'll ever sympathize with the mom's reasons. I may understand what she felt, but I can't understand her reason for abandoning Ayano. If anything, though, I'm more frustrated with Elena. |

I thought Elena was going to bitchslap hey when said she had no regrets. U really think this problem can easily solved by bitslapping hey and saying that she was a not only a horrible mother but also as person and show hey how much Ayano suffered because of her. But alas anime always forgives these kinds of parents as if nothing happened if they show up no at all. I've seen anime for over 20 years and only a handful of theses parents actually want to come back and when they do come back they either abandon them again and go somewhere else or pretend nothing happened. Always happens just take some anime where the main character searches for his/ mother. Only exception in know is Phanton world. But to balance it the girls treat him worse than slave. |

I can already see the cliche as fuck ending with Ayano getting back into the game super hyped up and managing to steal the win from Nagisa even though she should be completely wasted both physically and mentaly. This anime fails so hard to deliver any meaningful drama and character development that it makes it somewhat hard to watch. The only saving grace of this anime is Nagisa and the animation quality of the matches. If only every sports anime could be on the same level of Chihayafuru, then maybe it would be a genre that I would give more attention. DedPanda said: The only good thing about this anime is Nagisa. Same as the last few, this is a good episode on its own. The emotional progression is great, and all the visual and narrative resources are well-used. The problem is the series. A great conclusion and climax to an awful story makes it feel like it stands on thin ice. Not that the episode is perfect either. Uchika is a terrible person and a terrible character, this episode only confirms how detached from reality and from being a natural character she is. Her rationalization is even worse because it highlights a mindset that is completely non-functional, and I was surprised that Elena didn't react more viscerally to that. The issue of competition and friendship is something that kind of bothers me as well because at this point the moral shouldn't be "you can have both", but rather a more nuanced "you can have both but they don't depend on each other". What Ayano has tried all this time is to win because this would let her have people around who care about her. The moral should be to detach competition and friendship, to see them as separate entities, and to release the pressure that constantly stems from trying to reach one through the other. Ayano should learn to lose, and she should learn that losing is okay, this should be mandatory for a character who has grown thinking that defeat meant complete despair and isolation. That's why I don't get the emotional resonance from people in the badminton team suddenly encouraging her to stand up, compete and win, and what I hope the finale is rational enough to understand. |

God dammit the Mom is such a bitch...BUT SHES RIGHT!!! Well on some accounts. Yes only a select few can make money being a professional athlete, but leaving Ayano because she's playing badminton for you is straight up bullshit. Maybe if CONNIE wasnt such a fuckign bitch this NEW AYANO WOULD HAVE NEVER EVEN HAPPENED!!! (Although I LOVE Chaotic Evil Ayano) Ayano is coming back and winning this game people. She switched to her right hand...she's playing serious now. I felt like the Animation was really well done especially in comparison to the manga. I can see Ayano losing though, and in the process Aragaki destroying her knee and Ayano being the only one to go to nationals from the team...bringing the power of teamwork and friendship into the anime once again. |

But yeah, it is quite pointless to discuss this topic, since it all comes down to personal preference. (You probably weren't even trying to, he's just taking things way too serious.) I'm glad to see someone on here thinks the same way I do. I always find it funny when people spout off how this hate shows like these because it either didn't out the way they wanted. But it's actually nothing more than knee-jerk reactions. It's exactly like when the big uproar happened with Ichigo in episode 14 of Darling in the FranXX. People were spouting off how much they hated Ichigo, downplaying anyone who thought different, and writing the show off entirely. Initially I was one of those people, but then I remember what Nearly On Red said in the opening statement of his review of that episode. "Far from an indictment of the show, these kind of reactions mean that they[the writers] are doing something right. Having people care about your characters, to get emotionally invested in their successes and their failures and their well being, that's basically the victory condition for writers." Getting frustrated with this show because of all the things that happened may seem extreme, but it's actually perfect. As a writer myself, I want people to get emotionally invested in my characters, I want them to care about what happens to them next, and I want people to get mad at me for the way I wrote the story and the characters. Whether they like or not is entirely up to them, but as the writer I'll at least know that I accomplished what I set to do. That's why I believe people who hate this show are the ones who never took the time to look deeper and really understand it. I mean, seriously. Did you really think Hanebado! was just going to be another one of those moe shows with cute girls doing cute things while also sharing a passion for something like Harukana Receive or Yuru Camp? No, and again I have been read bits of the manga and while it isn't bad I find it to be too lighthearted. I'm actually really glad the writers chose to go a different direction with the story instead of making a one on one adaptation. And here's another thing, to quote from Nearly On Red on DitF again: "The struggle against the klaxosaurs has never been the main event. This isn't an action show with love subplots, this is a romance and character drama with a mechs and monsters subplot." In the case of Hanebado!, the sport of badminton has never been the main event. This isn't a sport's story with a bunch of drama, this is a character driven story mainly about one character's tragic journey with badminton being her driving force. On the final note, do you remember what the big question that was in Darling in the FranXX? It was the question Zero Two asked Ichigo after Ichigo slapped her and said she wasn't human. That question was: "What is human to you people?" Well, for Hanebado!, the big question is this: "Why do we play badminton?" |
"You talk too much. Think too much." "I don't care how justified you think your reasons are. I won't tolerate liars or thieves." "If you're not going to be nice to me, don't expect me to be nice to you." "I'm a soldier, not a superhero. Don't ever think of me as one." "The world doesn't revolve around you. Get that through your thick skull." "People who live by their emotions go nowhere in their lives. They only find misery. "If you don't like the way your life is than do something about it instead of sitting there feeling sorry for yourself." "You want something go get it. Period." |

What pisses me off so much about what Uchika did is that i'm 100% sure that Ayano will forgive her. Ayano still wants her mother to acknowledge her...the fact the she does the same thing with her hair as her mother does shows that. But is was so disappointed with Elena in this episode. I though she was going to confront Uchika and say some truths to her, but in the end she just made some questions and that was it. C'mon at least curse her or something...yeah i know she is being a "typical japanese" there as they don't like to confront others, but it still pisses me off. If there is one thing that fills me with rage while watching anime is when a piece of shit character does a bunch shit and NO ONE dares to say anything back to them. Slap that bitch in the face already. I remember watching Gundam Seed Destiny and how my piss would boil because no one would punch Shinn in face and tell him he was not the only person who suffered during a fucking war. I think i would have hated Shinn less if someone had taught him a lesson, since no one did he is to this day one of the characters that i hate the most. I guess Uchika is going to be another one. |

DirectorK said: I mean, seriously. Did you really think Hanebado! was just going to be another one of those moe shows with cute girls doing cute things I belive most of the people were exactly thinking this :D I mean it was a "trap" as it started out like one. Hanebado is kind of the Madoka Magica of sport animes. I like animes where you can't just predict everything from episode 1. DirectorK said: That's why I believe people who hate this show are the ones who never took the time to look deeper and really understand it. Yeah, most of the people don't even want to. I mean there is a reason why things like My Hero Academy, Overlord, or this Demon Lord thing this season (I mean c'mon ppl,, it is literally trash) kind of shows are at the top of the charts. (I don't mean they are wrong, there is nothing wrong not wanting to think too hard about a show. After a certain point neighter do I, I mean there is no way I will watch things like Mushisi, as I find them boring AF. People are different and that's fine.) DirectorK said: It's exactly like when the big uproar happened with Ichigo in episode 14 of Darling in the FranXX. Yeah, I remember. I wasn't too attached to the show so I watched the episode later, after this big shitstorm, and I didn't get what was the big deal. I mean this is nothing new, it happened a million times before in other animes. I didn't really like Franxx. It was a show that was trying to appeal to everyone. And if you try to appeal to everyone, in the end you won't be appealing for anyone. This "What is human to you people?" was an effort of trying to be deep for the sake of being deep. (But I also didn't like 02 at all, I was at *Bitchio's* side, so yeah) Gigguk's video about Franxx is the funniest sht ever :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYY7YM3E9aw In this show Ayano asking around "Why do you play badminton?" is a lot more relatable for me. I belive she is again on the brink of burning out, and searching for a driving force to continue. Haven't you at one point looked around and asked yourself "What the fck am I doing again? Just what's the point?" (probably a lot of people here hasn't, haha). |

I already know that the ending will disapoint me no matter wut, Ayano will probaly lose but will destroy Nagisa knee, then with this Ayano will learn the POWER of FRIENDSHIP and that winning is not everything in life (Despise the fact that is exacly what her mother taught her by abandoning her the moment she lost) and the worst part is that she will probably forgive her mother instead of telling her to go fuck herself. PS I guess that is why the Dad is not on the picture, because he must have realized how much of a bitch Uchika is and left. |

I accept Ayano's change of heart at this game and look forward to the last episode. Either ending is fine. Just ONE thing must not happen in any way: Ayano forgiving his mother. That would be the total trainwreck conclusion to anything humanly possible. Her mother literally said herself she's a piece of shit and that she's not even sorry for that. Please don't go this route.. |

QuattroVaginas said: Glad they didn't try to redeem Ayano's mom. Ayano needs to lose, and her mom needs to get hit by a truck. What frustrating characters. This show needs some waku waku waku waku shequasar. I lol'd. This show gets so grim dark sometimes it really is hard to take seriously. |

So many hate. Makes me wonder why I still love this anime despite the hatred it receives. Maybe because I love badminton and this is like the only badminton anime out there atm. And whatever anyone says, I think Kaoruko is just secretly an Ayanon fangirl. Her expression at the end.. :'D |
