| Plastic Memories. Nothing in it makes sense and the show does mood whiplash so much that it's impossible to take it seriously. The characters are archetypes and recieve zero development so when the "drama" happens, it's meaningless. |

| SNAFU and White Album 2 I guess though SNAFU is probably the worst of the 2 since WA2 only felt like a drag because MC was bland in my eyes and the 2 girls weren't worth paying much attention to so its not at the same level of stupidity like SNAFU |

| Anohana is to me so far the most exemplary case. Its melodrama is just criminally cheap and embarrassing. |
| Clannad/AS, Plastic Memories, Shigatsu, Attack on Titan. And then there's Strawberry Panic. The melodrama was so over the top and soap opera-ish that it went from bad to unintentionally hilarious. |
| I didn't really feel that much melodrama from AnoHana or Clannad/Clannad: AS, especially the latter. I remembered AnoHana having a bit towards the end but it didn't affect me negatively. Same with Nagi no Asukara, didn't really find the drama there to be too over-the-top. Your Lie in April is probably the one that I find to be obnoxious with some of its melodrama. And Itsudatte Bokura no Koi wa 10 cm Datta too, considering it's a short anime. |

| Like said above me. Ano Hana. I hate this anime. Although I liked Your Lie in April and Clannad After Story (I can't deny they are over melodramatic). Also, Kanon 2006. I hate this anime so much (my most hated anime). Characters are bad (aside from Yuuichi which is sarcastic most of the time). The drama is super forced. At least it got masterclass soundtrack. |
| Well melodrama is about as subjective as overrated, so you won't really be doing yourself any good by choosing to avoid any shows that are mentioned here Anywho, in my opinion, I didn't particularly enjoy the drama in Love Live, only cause of the consequences of said drama, and how ridiculous the actual dramatic event conspired A bit of Violet Evergarden as well, especially in the beginning. | I didn't like Your Lie in April and I think Clannad is overrated, but I wouldn't really say they are "obnoxiously melodramatic." At least in both those shows the drama is somewhat organic and flows well with the story (most of the time). If you just don't like emotional shows then yeah obviously you won't like those two, but I wouldn't say they are exceptionally over-dramatic given the genre they are in. The title of this thread actually made me think of School Days as the perfect example. The drama in that show is forced, over-the-top, and is basically just there for shock value. |

| I don't know OP , many of my favs are "melodramatic" so it isn't something I hate but Ano Hana would probably be the one I couldn't stand at all especially because I couldn't have cared less about Menma . |

| The little experience I had with AnoHana fits the definition of melodrama like a glove. Such overblown emotions and monologues. The MC screaming was the icing on the cake. Darling in the FranXXX deserves a mention as well. I know hardly anything about the characters and yet the show expects me to give in to how much it glorifies their problems. |
