Chihayafuru. Just finished it recently; didn’t think I’d love it as much as I did based on the synopsis and stuff. I’m sad that it’s not finished and likely wont get a third season :’)

Yes chihayafuru definitely exceeded my expectations too! What a great show.

Nothing more to say. From the rape-lesbian scenes that were massively posted everywhere, I thought it was generally a garbage yuri anime. Oh boy, I was wrong, the anime is somewhat likable.

ONE punch man, at the first I dropped it after the first 2 episodes thinking it's childish but I gave him a try on the dub version and it's one of the favorites now.
Think it twice, Is it worth?

Personally it’d have to be Bakemonogatari, I thought i was going to hate it but I ended up loving it and enjoying the Monogatari series as a whole.

Mine is definitely K-On. I wasn't into slice of life that much at the time and I was skeptical but I ended up enjoying it a lot
I took that up a notch. I went into K-On, got 3 episodes in and then dropped it (scoring it 5/10)

About a year later, as per a friends recommendation, I came back and finished the first season, along with 3 episodes of season 2 before dropping it again. I did not change my score

Then I came back one last time (This time because the director was my favourite, Naoko Yamada), finished it, and I don't know where along the way I started loving it, but I did. It became my 10th favourite anime after I finished it. Then after I while, it slipped up the ranks to 2nd place and it honestly deserves it.

I honestly never expected to love it up until the moment I started doing so.

Girls Last Tour
- I watched this before Abyss, so I had no clue what to expect with this show when I picked it up but needless to say I really like that show

Tsuki Ga Kirei
- @TURBOPOTATO recommended this to me and I wrote it off as a typical SOL school romance but I could not have been more wrong. I'd never seen anything so close to realism with regards to human interaction in anime before

Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu
I thought it was gonna be a generic fantasy harem but it turned out to be nothing like that.
I really liked the politics and the characters' morality.

Seikon no Qwaser
I also thought this was another generic battle shounen harem but while it was pretty generic in turn of the battle shounen aspect, it wasn't a harem and even ended with an established couple.

I quite literally stumbled upon Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, I miss-clicked on Crunchyroll and then was like "eh, might as well watch ep 1"

Lo and behold, now it's my #2 favorite anime lol

Most recently, Blend S. I thought it was just going to be another mediocre short slice-of-life series, but the anime turned out to be unexpectedly so enjoyable, it ended up as my favorite anime of 2017. Great cast of characters with their own charming quirks like Maika's scary sadistic face as a running gag.
The OP theme is so catchy as I never once skipped it on every episode.

Many of my favorites in reality...

  • K-On!: I thought it was moe trash but how wrong I was... Ironically, it's now my favorite (it's so relaxing but at the same time there is a bit of conflict). It's just perfect
  • Madoka Magica: I thought it was a kid show. No need to say why I ended liking it so much.
  • Monogatari: I thought it was gonna be some weird ecchi due to Mayoi (the loli) appearing in the OP 2 "twerking". Now I understand why that instance and I think the series is one of the more deep I ever watched.
  • Fullmetal Alchemist: I thought it was a cliche shounen but I was wrong. I have only found one more shounen with the same quality as FMA, and that's Hunter x Hunter. The start of FMA:Brotherhood is a bit slow but everything else is a masterpiece.
  • Danganronpa: I thought it was a Assassination Classroom rip-off (biggest error so far due to DNG being prior to AC) mixed with Detective Conan. I still don't think it's very good but the game made me like very much the characters and the series itself just the first two games.
  • Assassination Classroom: Similar to FMA, I expected shounen trash. I don't like it THAT much, but compared to my initial expectations...
  • Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: The mecha genre was and is one of my least favorites but TTGL proved me that I can like a mecha show. I'm glad I gived it a try due to hating it so much, now I love it.

Mekakucity Actors and Hetalia, i think. I mean, at first i thought the characters in both of 'em look very dumb ( especially after seeing some really weird shintaro gif...). But then i got really attached to the characters in both and fell in love with Mekakucity Actors' story.

> just now listening to the Frame Arms Girl OP

Oh, I forgot to mention this show. Frame Arms Girl.

I started it expecting it to be a throwaway show, i.e. I drop it because it's just not my thing.

The characters turned out to be pretty adorable (except the Materia sisters and Jinrai) and the OP is really awesome. So I stayed.

I would make a list but I don't feel it to be necessary. I still find it crazy how I re-watched Overlord season 1 4 times when it's rare for me to rewatch an anime. Weird I know.

it became my Anime of the fall 2017 season

next was love live, because i wasnt a fan of the music genre so i forced myself to watch it. after the suffering of going thru the first 2 eps i was like meh. Then i gave it one last chance. the music in the 3rd episode STRIKED ME SOO HARD I WAS OVERWHELMED BY THE BEAUTIFUL LYRICS AND MUSIC!

Mine is Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai. At the first glance, I think this anime would be another generic ecchi, but wow ... I never imagine the world without dirty jokes like there, so this is a funny, lewd, and educative anime you should watch XD

Shimoneta.

I had a really negative opinion of Ecchi's based on what my anime-veteran friends told me, so I just adopted their opinions and assumed it was all garbage....

I had a really, genuinely good time with this. And yes, it is an Ecchi.... so it had what you'd expect, but I never expected to have so much... fun!

Fate series (recently just binged them all except Prisma Illya that I'm still working on) and loved it.

For this season, I would have to say IDOLiSH7...Last season after the trainwreck of Dynamic Chord, the underperforming Tsukipro The Animation, and the meh/so-so Idolm@ster Side M, I was about to give up on the genre. But I tried out IDOLiSH7 recently and binge-caught up to being current in the season after surprisingly liking it a lot more than I expected.

Shokugeki no Soma not into ecchi so much but it was definitely more than just ecchi and I actually enjoyed it. Moreover Yukihira is a really likable MC.

Boku no Hero Academia wasn't really interested in the first season but the last few episodes were good and the 2nd season even better.

I went into Ajin on a whim and honestly wasn't expecting much but I fell in love halfway through the first episode.

Another one that caught me off guard was All Out!! As a long time rugby fan, I didn't think an anime could really capture the true spirit of the sport...but I was very wrong and now All Out is one of my most favorite series.

and also Durarara, i was bored in the first 15 episodes, until what happened next lol, it's so cool

Definitely Toradora! for me. I even thought I was never gonna watch it because of the romance and slice of life elements, but when I learned that it was more than a generic anime about two people falling in love, I gave it a go. Needless to say that I found it amazing, there wasn't a single moment where it felt boring or cheesy, and I loved its characters and the way the story was told. It totally took me by surprise, I should have watched it a long time ago.

Close to finish Akame ga Kill and I have to say I'm surprised. I expected total, edgy crap trying too hard to serious with the gore. Instead I found a ridiculous, but satisfying and overblown drama.

It's a lot of fun and very well-built.

One Punch Man. The reason I held it off after watching the first ep a few months ago was because I didn't think the story would go anywhere since the MC was already strong from the start (also because I love character developments so I want the MC to start off weak and slowly become strong throughout the show) but, a week ago, I was talking to my brother and he looked at me like I was crazy for putting it on hold and told me to give it another chance because it's more than meets the eye so I took his advice right after he told me and I began watching it again...and ended up loving it!! It was a 10/10 for me. :) I admit the first ep was good but I wasn't really drawn to it until the second episode!

Still waiting for season two, btw! :P
