You're wrong, though. They outdid themselves adapting the background, and Aku no Hana was the best show of its year.
Ratings don't really make a difference to me, the characters and animation looked so horrible I dropped it after the 1st episode and read the manga instead.
Did you read the Manga all the way to the end?

What good marketing, even if the show only caught 400 or so disc sales.

Aku no hana was ruined by the anime. The manga was beautiful but the anime is just terrible.

Food wars is the way to mine.

That's why people should learn stop labeling anime with studio for quality.
Check the staff's name and the number of artists. Check also the sponsors.

the manga doesn't really look that nice to me
sure its detailed but still not that nice looking
also instead of focusing on how good the art looks compared to the manga you should focus on if the story of the anime is good or not because thats what truly matters

They skipped entire story arcs in the Kingdom anime...

Only one, and it wasn't even really detrimental to the story, which was overall handled really well. Kingdom is the one anime I can think of whose story will make up for any amount of bad CG.

Weird you commented that because i agree with the labell sure it is a generalization but it is not there are not like thousands of way more inacurate generalization being used constantely
Labelling studios is important because of how simple and usefull it is barely anyone will look for information in the entire production before picking a show but having a little information about the studio can be helpfull in the case

Most beautifully drawn manga?? Nah, Otoyomegatari has that position.

Kaoru Mori is really good but Hiroaki Samura and Ikegami Ryoichi are in a different league.

Sucks that we'll never have that season 2 adaptation due to the alternative route the anime took.

I mentioned it in another reply and I do think it is the best adaptation I've seen of the studio. However those epileptic light sequences were annoying and questionable.

...Nah.

They're good with realistic and detailed+profound drawing styles respectively, but I wouldn't consider their works "most beautifully drawn".

They're artistic, yes (probably more so, but that's a matter of taste) but realism and what not isn't really what's the most beautiful style in 2D.

Tokyo Mew Mew has gorgeous, adorable art in the manga. But the anime's art isn't so great :/ Then again, the anime came out in 2002 so I guess it is forgivable.

kingdom and berserk are prime examples.

From these pictures, I'd say Kingdom is just as ugly as a manga as it is as an anime. Not a single cute girl in sight.

well there are a few good looking girls but that is simply not that kind of manga

Only BERSERK can be compared side by side against KINGDOM arts but, unlike BERSERK this is weekly release consistently since chapter 1.

Only HK comic Ravages Of Times is level above KINGDOM AND BERSERK

Same old things here. It's not about screwing up adaptions, it's about namecalling anything that looks different than the norm (mostly rotoscoping and 3dcgi).

You can blame the mangaka, it was his vision for the anime to look like this, he insisted on using real actors and rotoscoping because he wanted to achieve a certain atmospheric realism which imo worked out perfectly. I think reducing his work to cute character designs does not do it justice, that's not what it really is about. It's more about the characters, emotions and atmosphere. If the story has nothing of interest to offer to you once the cute designs are gone, I'm not sure you were into it for the right reasons from the start. Personally the appeal of the show was deeper for me than just the surface level of how the characters look.

Long story short, the studio didn't screw up the adaption, on the contrary they went out of their way to make the authors vision come true even if it required unconventional means like rotoscoping. I'll never get how people can hate the anime and worship the manga so much, they are both part of the same vision from the same person, just adjusted to their respective mediums.
I probably regret this post by now.

I've very rarely seen both the anime and read the manga for something. So far I have nothing to complain about, in fact the anime usually looks much better, especially if we include the rubbish art illustrations in some of the light novels I've read.
