This was a great episode. Their bonds are being more deep. After the sharing of pain. They are now been connected through positive emotions like love or relationship. An intense flashback from Katsuhira. And Ships here are beginning to sail. Lol xD Tenga x Nico

For a while there was a bit of hope for Chidori ending up with at least someone given her interactions with Tenga but then TengaxNico happened. Chidori really is going to end up alone isn't she? (considering Hisomu isn't really an option) I feel really bad for her, and while I know it isn't really his fault but I want to punch Kacchon for running off.

Does it mean this?

if this is going to be true my ship is sinking so hard right now lmfao

Yes, the umbrella is the Japanese equivalent to the custom of carving names in a heart in a tree to signify love. This doesn't sink any ships, it was just the male teacher's attempt to make Nico x Tenga happen. That's why he had the Gomorin separate them into those two groups. Rewatch the episode. I fully expect this to backfire next week. They're trying to force love and any sense of intuition can tell you that will crash and burn. Especially when the female teacher already highlighted that the feelings were all one-sided. Next episode Tenga and Nico will probably run into Chidori in a state of mess, which will confirm his feelings for her if he really has any and that will then put a dent in Nico x Tenga. The more I think about it, none of these parings will probably end up canon because of this.

Except for Yuta x Maki which is like 89% canon lol

Awww gawd this episode made me feel like being one of Kiznaivers myself, hahah - the feelings kinda came through and I really loved it in this episode.

Nico x Tenga so gud. Interesting to see what'll happen next with Katsuhira revelations coming up and all, wow.

I'm pleasantly surprised they aren't going to have everyone shipped as in some won't be paired(Hisomu which I thought he would be with Nico). I always thought Sonozaki had a kiznaiver scar on her neck explaining the black scar looking thing but it turned out to be a necklace instead. And was I the only one who thought Sonozaki would kill/harm Chidori to speed up the experiment? The subway scene seemed a bit dark to me

Gotta love the shipping chart.

I still think they should do more and talk less in this show, but i guess that will not happen.

you know what, at this point all I care about is Nori-chan. Okada Mari, why are you so bad at writing.

Totally agree.

I had very high hopes for this at the start of the season and, although it was extremely character centered, i didn't mind because it was fairly good at what it was doing (despite a bit of forced drama here and there). I thought everything would be fine as long as they eventually centered on the story in the second half.

At this point, however, I've lost all hope. The amount of forced drama here was ridiculous, the whole nico - tenga - chidori - katsuhira - sonozaki thing was already a bit of a mess, but now not only are they not trying to fix the mess, they're trying to shove it down our throats in the span of this episode (and probably the next one too tbh). That of course means there will be little to no time to explain why the fuck the goverment is carrying these experiments aka the whole plot before the end of the series. Considering so much time was wasted in some of the initial eps, couldn't all this have happened before?

Overall I'm really pissed and disappointed. I'd heard Mari Okada wasn't great, but at this point I feel this season (with this and Mayoiga) she is actively striving to make anything she touches a total trainwreck. I'll continue watching till the end probably, but at this point I'm seriously scared and disappointed at what direction the plot might take.

Lets hope I'm wrong and the series turns out at least semi-decent.

The irony of people complaining about characters being self-centred is that it makes them self-centered. 2deep4u

Kiznaiver was already pro shipping but now it is a shipfest itself. Also they to fall in love exactly when the teacher wants it, lol. Not really a complain just an observation, it makes it a bit forced.

UNBELIEVABLE PLOT HOLE 0/10

A fair question though is when did actually Chidori fall in love with Katsuhira. If him being emotionless comes from the experiment when did Chidori experience the caring and lovable side of his character? It seems Katsuhira lost his emotions when he was very young.
This is speculation and a doubt I have, it is not a plot hole... yet

Wow, that was so incredibly deep. Your thoughts must run as deep as a kiddie pool.
Because characters can't be incredibly self-centered, like, I don't know, by forcing themselves on someone about being friends, or going to judge a grieving mother over a matter they have no true knowledge of or relation to, especially considering they're barely friends with the person they try to defend?

It wasn't meant specifically to you, I said it because I saw more comments about it. I agree she is self-centered but that is not necessarily bad if that's her character. If you don't like her it is fine but keep in consideration that many people are self-centered so it is not an unrealistic trait. She was depicted as very simple minded and self-centered from the start.

P.S. my thoughts would drown in a kiddie pool because it is 2deep4me, after all only 2 inches of water are needed for a person to drown.

Thing is this is a bit contradictive, the concept tries to manufacture plastic emotions and the premise is quite stretchy yet it conveys emotion very well to the viewer through frankly well done production. Shit, can't really put it eloquently

Sorry took that as directed towards me, because I saw a notification that I got a reply and the 'self-centred' is misspelled like my comment before my edit. (Kinda still think it is, but oh well, your reply is reasonable).

Well, you got a point there. It does give me a new perspective on her character, kinda makes her more human, though it doesn't stop the fact that I dislike her and will probably continue to dislike her. Especially considering the fact that many characters I initially disliked showed new sides to themselves or got some development, so I either became neutral to them or started to like them. Can't see that happening with Nico. The show tries to portray her as a Mako (Kill La Kill), but she just really can't play that role imo. Also, 'shallow' doesn't mean that she has no character at all. That simple mindedness of hers can be called shallow, and that's what makes her a not likeable character to me.

Also about your initial plot hole comment: I think that at one point Katsuhira was taken away (by his mother/father the researcher(s)) to be tested on for the Kiznaiver the kids edition experiment. Before that he knew Chidori and was himself. Or he knew her during the experiment, but during the experiment he was still cheerful and lost his emotions gradually, or in one instant when Sonozaki went all suicide mode.

I spelled it self-centred because my auto-correct says self-centered is wrong. lol
Like I said it is understandable you don't like her, on the other hand other people think she is cute and adorable, opinions. Still you should be aware that disliking a character doesn't mean she is a bad character (nico might be one but I am talking in general).

Not really a plot hole yet but unsure of how things happened. I remember chitoge saying she fell in love for his character but changed. If it was 10 years ago when they were still kids this things won't go well for me.

It all make sense to me now.

It's going to sound a bit weird but in the first episode, when Niko is talking about the fairy and that everything is a dream and everyone else are second characters, and then Tenga goes on her saying: "Then i can touch you a little before you wake up" (Or something like that). From that moment i thought that thay had good vibes, and i was surprised that anyone commented about them. In the next episodes, when the Chidori x Tenga thing started, i thought that everything had been my imagination, but now i know that i was right! There is something between Nico and Tenga! (even if theres only at Nico's side)

I'm still surprised that most comments says that their relation came out of nowhere, i think they could make a really cute couple<3

Oh lol.
Well, I do get that. F.e. I dislike Sonozaki, but considering this episode and probably the next episodes, if they show her past decently, I can't say she's a bad character if it shows that it's understandable that she has become the way she is. With Nico it's different. The plot has centered more around her now, and sort of stopped using her weirdness as a gag. But compared to the other characters she lacks development. That's why to me she specifically is a bad character. (I feel the same way about Hisomu, but at least he remains more of a gag, than someone who's the focus of the main story). (And her cuteness/adorableness/wackiness falls flat when compared to Mako's; I will continue to be extremely biased on this one >.>)

Well, this show is kinda destroying itself by mixing 'the Kiznaiver' plot with a romantic drama. I'm kinda interested in what they're going to reveal the upcoming episodes, but it will be probably insufficiently explained in some way. So, probs going to not go well with you and a lot of other people. (Though if you thought about it more like Chidori being in denial and holding onto an old image of her friend, so also not truly liking him, would that make it more acceptable to you?)

True

It is not about the justification but more about timing. If she fell in love before the experiment, did she continued to love him for 10 years even though he became emotionless? >.>
However until the time line is more certain I can't say it is really a flaw.

But isn't the justification the key here? Because, yes, if it was before the experiment, she has probably continued to like him this whole time, even though he has become emotionless. But as I see it, she wanted the old him back, so she held onto him and fused over him, and misinterpreted her positive memories of him and her fusing as being (still) in love with him. The only way I can see this becoming a serious flaw, is if they don't show anything about their past at all (or maybe show something that makes little sense), or if they let them end up as a couple with them acting towards each other as they do now.
The problem is that Katsuhira's and Chidori's relationship as childhood friends is already pretty flawed, because he practically shows no/not enough interest in her (and I don't mean romantically, but just basic interest) even though he has already grown as a character. (Just a note, but I don't consider them both bad characters because of that).

Oh, I completely forgot about that. Now her disliking Tenga giving Chidori attention makes way more sense. Thanks :p
I think people have been disregarding them, because his actions are more of a 'big bro' kind than one where he has actual indivual conversations with her. Then a lot of far more obvious hints towards Tenga x Chidori were dropped, so they overshadowed the Tenga x Nico ones. But above all, most people probably never expected it to go in the direction of a ship/love fest, so they could never see how the hints were actual hints and not 'delusional shipping' lol.

i think this episode was really great at how they were entering the drama more deeply like that xD and obvious they took kiznaiver as the adventage for the drama. i really like that a lot.

I agree with Tenga in this episode when he compliment Nico when she wear unknown jacket. she looks more cuter, heck i even think she looked a little bit cooler. Even tho Nico looks like a grade-school student but inside......man....that scene, Tenga x Nico moment almost made me wanted to ship them. but again, NO! i'm still stuck with Tenga x Chidori.

on the other side, we got more flashback and more info according to kiznaiver system and i found that a little bit interesting. Negative Fellings = Pain, and they could only do that long time ago, and couldn't do it with Positive Fellings. kinda confusing but i kinda know what he was talking about. and yes, for some unknow reasons, the experiment subject, all of them die, EXCEPT Katsuhira and Sonozaki, am i right ? and i'm guessing Katsuhira lost his feeling of pain because of the experiment. intead of him to died, he lost his sense to feel pain, i guess ? either way, that flashback at the end was still vague or more like confusing to me. everything will be revealed in the next episode they said, so i'm looking foward to it.

and back to the drama, Katsuhira met Sonozaki at the end of the episode and i'm guessing Chidori accidently saw them and she couldn't bring herself to interupt them ? and then for some reason she cried and ran away. suddenly he met Tenga and she cried in his arms ? Nico's looking at them and.....that's my limit. i'm done.

looking foward for the next episode xD

Edit: and btw, we know for sure that Sonozaki has kiznaiver system implanted in behind her neck and it didn't really suprised me that much. i kinda saw that coming from the beginning. but still....i'm curious....
i'm seriously gonna get all salty if they really made Tenga x Nico instead Tenga x Chidori. and the most thing that i don't want to see from this show is Chidori x Katsuhira.

Great episode. I'm hoping Chidori wins this love battle though, I'd really feel for her if she didn't, because she's tried so hard.

The soundtrack that kicked in at the end was incredible. I hate that it ended in a cliffhanger though, just as Kacchon began to regain his memories.

Hoping something happens between Honoka and Yuta. Yuta's a lucky guy, Honoka is best grill.

I love the art and the animation. Really *-*

Well, I don't think Katsuhira dismissed what Chidori was saying because he wanted. It was pretty obvious he was not even listening to it because of the flashback sixty-sense thingy. And he is not obligated to respond to her feelings anyway. Sometimes the person you like is not really into you :(
At the moment I think he is so messed up emotionally that he doesn't know he likes Sonozaki either (and probably thinks Chidori USED to like him, because that's what she told him) xD
But well, one childhood friend is going to win, since there are both of them xD

I really hyped to see what happened in the past and more about this experiment.

Not that it's a revelation, but this episode made me realize that I appreciate the manipulation of the characters. It's kind of proving to be an interesting design space to work with. I get that it's the premise of this series. It could go either way, but I hope the obvious conclusions aren't where this leads. I'm finding it hard to empathize but it's hard to turn away.

My prediction is that the whole shipping experiment will burn in their faces when Tenga rejects Niko (or show no attention to her), Chidori beholds Katsu/Nori...

And the Masochist is goin to be delighted by all the pain

Contrary to popular belief, Yuta x Maki is the dumbest pairing on this show and the most predictable. Just seeing them together makes me hurl.

I'm more interested in Nori-chan and who all those kids in patient gowns were. The other characters and their regurgitated drama and stick it back up their asses where it belongs.

Oh boy. Classic Mari Okada love polygon where every character has to be involved somehow, and now the teachers are playing cupid too. I wasn't aware Nico was crushing on Tenga until this episode.

Ah! What a shame that the best of times, the anime appears so obvious. End which is not surprising with its twist, I complain, but I know that would not change anything from that point of view. Storytelling quite fun and interesting, the story is make some steps forward, Yay! I did not think Nico liked Tenga, imagined a different scenario, the type ... it's a secret! XD
Drawings and animations, very good, ditto for the OST.

I think there's isn't necessarily any love pentagon involved here. For a fact, I know that, Tenga wouldn't hit on Chidori since she loves MC & I think, he'll fall in love with Nico. I can only think of Chidori as the lost one here since she'll be left alone cause MC x Nori-chan is coming up next.
Yuta x Maki is the most stable relation imo.
Also, that principal woman looks hawt!

I'm little disappointed Nico had to be involved in the love-mess, her character has been all about wanting to make friends, best friends even, and she wants to be close with everyone. She's often forcing herself to be an attention hog though romance is not what she was looking for in the first place. Well it seems she's surprised with this feeling herself. It could be benefitting for her character if we are shown something from her past, why was she unable to make friends before, was she feeling lonely and strived to change into her colourful appearance and over the topness. I feel she still needs more layers before she can be involved i any kind of romance.
Both Tenga and Nico are great persons to have around, their positive energy brings life to the entire group. I can see Tenga wanting to fulfil his protective big brother role but oversees that girls can be attracted to him. I hope he gets closer to Chidori, they have some great interactions.

Chidori is a good girl, she's precious. It's just a downer her whole character is only about her relationship with Katsuhira, she seriously has to burst out of this bubble and grow stronger, for her own sake. I'm expecting Tenga to go ape-shit on Katsuhira for ignoring her.

I really adore the development between Yuta and Maki, it feels the most genuine. A huge burden has lifted from Maki's shoulders but she'll still be hurt and needs more time to move on. Yuta, despite his insecureness, treats her with respect and will be there for her, Maki clearly appreciate this. I want this ship to grow but still needs more time.

Expecting lots of crying next episode...

I want Maki to find some happiness before the show's end, but I don't want her to be with Yuta. :(

i think this episode was really great at how they were entering the drama more deeply like that xD and obvious they took kiznaiver as the adventage for the drama. i really like that a lot.

Edit: and btw, we know for sure that Sonozaki has kiznaiver system implanted in behind her neck and it didn't really suprised me that much. i kinda saw that coming from the beginning. but still....i'm curious....
i'm seriously gonna get all salty if they really made Tenga x Nico instead Tenga x Chidori. and the most thing that i don't want to see from this show is Chidori x Katsuhira.

ikr.. idk why people pitied chidori, she done the least except for showing how much she want katsuhira for herelf.

Nico x Tenga. I knew it goddamnit.
I wonder how Chidori will react to what happened. I hope she will realize that her life shouldn't revolve around Kacchon.

These ending scenes were powerful. I love the way Kacchon remembering things is put. Mixing flashback and present scenes is very very nice. And I love this romance between Kacchon and Nori even though it's cliché.

My favourite couple is Yuta x Maki.
The way he'll heal her scars after Ruru's death, the way she makes him learn that there is something more than just the outside look of people. I really love those two.
