You had me at NisiOisin.

In all seriousness, even ignoring his name this sounds like something I'd definitely like. Definitely going to watch.

Yeah I would BE VERY surprised if it is not either White Fox or Shaft. Shaft is almost80% sure at this point.

As much as I like Monogatari novels, I really disliked how it was adapted in anime form by shaft folks (I'm aware that I'm one of the very few having this opinion)

so I was hoping this would get different staff & studio

if this series also gets SHAFT treatment then sadly I'm out (good for their fans tho)

I'll just have to satisfy myself with the novels I guess
Imagine a berserk anime by Yoshiaki kawajiri at Madhouse.

Now take a look at Berserk (2016).

YOU HAVE MY PERMISSION TO CRY.

Katanagatari nailed it as far as the character designs went.

It'll be hard to tear away from that expectation., so i'm hoping whoever's in charge of character designs this time around willl be able to replicate it just as well.

I'm not even sure if I want that. I somehow can't imagine the mood of the series while having to look at take's design. They are great but kind of cartoonish (the latest ones look more refined though). I didn't mind it for the most part in Katana, but some characters were pretty miss. Also, I always wanted to see Zaregoto characters looking like this.

If Shaft is doing it, they didn't follow Vofan's designs either. Personally I'd like to see Kizu style designs for Zaregoto actually.
Wow Kizu design would be amazing. Although that level of design to translate into Kizu required much effort.

I could see a toned down version of it but following white fox with shafts own style would be dope. Although they didnt follow Vofans designs most of their recent projects have been faithful in terms of character designs.

BTW where did you get those pics from?

It's probably gonna release in the end of 2017 or the beginning of 2018,and the last part of kizu is probably in the first half of the next year so Oishi's gonna be free at the time
2 coure is not hard for shaft so I'm not worry
Idk whether Kizu is finished or not. It wouldn't be odd to think that they already animated 3 hours and split it up into 3 and just release it that way. Or they could be just doing 1 hour at a time. Who knows?

it's doesn't matter at all
even though I'm pretty sure they're not already finished with kizu but there's noway to confirm

really awesome designs especially the 2nd image
now i think i'm not gonna be satisfied with take's art
forgot to mention, Take's design in zerogato is better than his work in katanagatari

This is my first time hearing about this series but it sounds interesting enough. Everyone is hyping it up so I hope it delivers. Since it's a NisiOisin work it's practically guaranteed to be done by Shaft, and their unorthodox style seems like a good fit for something with a synopsis like this.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

I'm so glad this is finally happening. Please give me more Jun. I'm wondering how they'll cut this up into the adaptation. Will a season be a book or will we have a few books in one season?

Zeta said:
That's because Zaregoto got a lot of reprints and received newer images. Some of the older pics in the first prints are kind of eh. The covers still had decent designs

Yep, also Zaregoto spans out throughout several years while Katangatari was released throughout a single year. So the comparison isn't really fair I think.

Hoping an official translation will be made for it soon after the anime, as the original english publisher went out of business. Vertical has been translating the Monogatari series and did a good job with Kizumonogatari so hopefully they could do the same with Zaregoto.

Woah! It really did happen, barely believe it. Can't wait to see how they decide to adapt this.
Hopefully nothing remotely similar to the ningen manga.

Any other studio would just be a waste of a good story. This type of novel is something that Shaft excels in while the rest of the industry havent shown that they can handle this type of material.

Kodansha USA supposedly took over Del Rey Manga's catalog (the original English publisher) after they went defunct, but it doesn't seem like they have any concrete plans to re-release the series anytime soon. I spoke to one of their editors a couple of months ago, but unfortunately he couldn't give any positive signals.

If the anime proves to be successful, perhaps they'll revive the series. Alternatively, Vertical may pick it up as well. Just hope that Yen Press stays the out of it.

Kodansha USA has no history of light novels so I seriously doubt this will be their first.

Vertical has done numerous Attack on Titan novels, which are published by Kodansha, going by this pattern it seems clear they would get it if it does get licensed in the future.

Yen Press has only published novels from Kadokawa and Shogakukan, as well as a few others, but never a Kodansha title, so I don't think you have to worry about them getting the license.

Oh, I missed that enws completely.
It's an interesting work to put into anime; although, as a mystery novel it uses stuff that I don't especially appreciate, like unreliable narrator and the like, so I wouldn't call it "very good" either.
Not the best LN's adaptation we're getting soon, but still, it should be interesting. Plus, we'll get to see Jun Aikawa animated. Should be worth it just for this I suppose x).

Seems like it was a CM they saw with the monogatari movie .So that would make it OVA indeed. The question is, OVA series or just single OVA? Seems too short for one book, so probably ova series?

Nice choice of seiyuu btw.

Okay that makes sense. I was almost worried it would be like some short random OVA like for Ancient Magus Bride.
