| Incantations are often used to cast a really powerful spell or to dispel one someone else cast. I often get shivers just from reading some of them and though I know it would not be very useful in battle to take your time to recite one, I can't help but love it. Even better if it's underlined with some epic soundtrack. What about you, do you like them? If yes what is/are your favourite one(s)? If no, do you think they're a waste of time? Some of my favourites: Fate: Unlimited Blade Works I love the name alone, but reading the incantation even without seeing or hearing anything is enough to send shivers through my body GAR! Bleach: Senjū Kōten Taihō Loved the scene, Bleach has some other great incanations too. Some other incantation I found and really liked though it's pretty short. Maken-Ki! Kusanagi Unfortunately it was never used in the anime... Edit: Damn forgot to include a poll ._. |

| Mostly just to build up tension for a spell, would be more practical to just say the name and even then not every skill needs you to shout it when you're using it. I just think of DragonballZ where they say Kamehameha for a small energy beam and the longer it takes the stronger it's supposed to be. Or they could just yell a lot and get more muscles as the ground shakes. |

| They get me hot. Chuuni stuff done well is exciting stuff. F/Zero's summoning made the long episode worth it. A chant with a good VA and sexy soundtrack can do wonders for an action sequence. |
| Tbh all those incantations (except for UBW) you listen in the OP are pretty lame. On the other hand Negima has legit Latin and Greek incantations that I have yet to see on another anime/manga. To sumbolaion diakonêtô Moi, ê krustallinê basileia. Epigenêthêtô, taiônion erebos, aiônie krustalle. Pasais zôais ton ison thanaton, os ataraxia. Kosmikê Katastrophê Agite, tenebrae abyssi, ensis incendens! Et incendium caliginis umbrae inimicitiae destrunctionis ultionis! Incendant et me et eum, sint solum incendentes! Still, you could probably tolerate that part since you like FT so much (no offense even if I hate the show) so ya. | Fate incantations. However I don't like them in the middle of battles typically. That's why I like how Mahouka does it with putting the activation sequence and magic sequence(incantations) in the CAD's, so the process is done automatically. |

| The only time I don't mind an incantation is when they aren't in the middle of a fight and stop to chant one. If they're out of the way or behind a barricade or something, they just seem far better to me. If they're in the middle of a fight I'll just sit there wondering WTF the enemy is doing by just standing around letting someone chant out a powerful spell against them. I enjoyed the Iron-Blood incantation from Hitsugi no Chaika because it was a pre-battle one. |

| They're cool, yeah, but I like it more when everyone has to say incantations to use magic and one of the main characters doesn't and wipes the floor with them like Raquel in Scrapped Princess or can copy their spell and use it against them like Rayor Lute in Legend of the Legendary Heroes. |

In Negima's manga, the opponent always try to interrupt the opponent incantation when that's a possibility. either that or preparing a defence while the other is incanting. Either way, the more dangerous the incantation, the more desperate the attempt to stop it from the other side will be. Incantation can work just fine in the middle of a fight. |
