I'M SO BEYOND STOKED

I haven't been this excited about an anime in a really long time.

I like how the style changes/downgrades to indicate the severity of his punches lol.

I was a little disappointed they didn't capture the absolute horror and heartbreak Saitama had on his face after realizing it was all a dream. They just stopped at the initial confusion stage, and never transitioned into that look of complete soul crushed despair he had in the manga/webcomic.

it looks like though they put part of the next chapter into this episode, when he was monologuing over how powerful and removed from society he felt.

Which does make me wonder how much they're going to change.

I mean these first few chapters didn't have much continuity anyway, so tweaking them a little doesn't hurt, but hopefully they don't go overboard once the real story starts.

And i swear to god...if Madhouse pulls a Claymore on One Punch Man....words cannot not describe the destruction I'll rain upon them.

Dragonball? No, it's One Punch Man!
Villains are quite interesting here; too bad One Punch Man needs only one punch.
Damn, the dream battle against the Subterraneans was soooo different from reality.

Can't wait for Saitama to find a worthy opponent.

So I just watched the first episode of One-Punch Man. So far, it seems to be a rather faithful adaptation of the early chapters of the manga. It appears to have a promising start, and hopefully it'll continue to be an enjoyable enough viewing experience. The episode did a great job of Saitama being able to defeat enemies with just one punch, and how he lacks emotion due to how easy his fights are because he's lost the thrill of actually fighting an enemy.

My only real complaint is how in a couple of the fight sequences, the animation suddenly became very exaggerated, with Saitama and the villains moving like they're rubber. I thought this was One-Punch Man, not One Piece. :) This exaggerated animation just doesn't entirely fit with the animation style being used in the rest of the episode. I know this One-Punch Man is on the comedic side, but I think the animators made some of those fight sequences a little too "cartoony." While Dragon Ball Z has utilized some exaggeration in the fight sequence animation, it was nothing like the exaggeration I saw in One-Punch Man.

Great episode! I was expecting a lot from this one...and i'm not disappointed.
Great animation, great music, great fights! So many good things. I'm looking forward to the next episode and to Genos :D

And two things to people who haven't read the manga:
1) Yes, vaccine man look is inspired from Piccolo(and, if i'm not wrong, he is voiced by the man who, in Japan, voiced Freezer from dragonball), mixed with Baikinman, the bad guy from Anpaman a japan's kid cartoon(in fact One Punch man is ispired also from anpaman). One is a big manga fan, of course, and that started as a battle manga parody.
2) As said, that started as a parody, then it developed to be much more, with a great story. So, don't be afraid, it's going to be awesome ;)

Ps. Sorry for my english, it's not my native language ^^"

I dunno, maybe it's me, but it was just painfully average. Nothing really stood out and I guess all the people hyped about it read the manga and were waiting for this adaption. I just found it kind of boring I suppose.

Epic first episode is epic!

Saitama knows fully well that he is too strong, but that alone makes the fight scenes in this episode so exciting. The soundtrack, paired with the unique art and excellent animation makes it so brilliant.

I wonder how powerful Genos will be in the next episode...

Seems like Madhouse is pulling out the big guns with this one. Pretty awesome episode :) Oh the struggles of being OP though. Had a feeling the poor guy was dreaming when the subterraneans said they had already killed off 70% of the population xD

Also waiting on people complaining about the MC being OP as they did for Overlord ;)

This anime looks not that bad. The animations were perfectly done and I like the story and the silly funny jokes in between. the opening theme was amazing, too, although the background music throughout the episode didn't get my attention to a high point. 9/10 as a start, which I guess will increase soon.

It is called "One Punch Man" for a reason, he even says that he is bored from winning fights so easily, he won't feel alive again until he gets a proper challenge, that's the point.

I don't understand why this is hyped up to be "AOTY" standard from episode 1, it's hardly deserving of it, everything was good and dandy in terms of animation as it normally is with Madhouse, but everything else seemed nothing out of the ordinary, particularly humour, hope it gets better in the upcoming episodes, mangafags.

If you read the manga you would know why its hyped :D

I've read about 20-something chapters of the manga, and then stopped reading...for some reason I don't know. Then I fell behind big time. Loved it, though.

Anyway, none of this is new to me yet, but it sure is nice that Madhouse is adapting the hell out of this. No wonder it's only going to be 12 episodes!

Looking forward to the first "Is One Punch Man overrated?" thread. I'm sure it'll pop up soon enough, knowing MAL.

lol there was already 2 threads that were deleted XD
1 asked if it can become mainstream, and degraded into overrated talk.
the other was just pure butthurt XD "why is it so highly rated, blah blah blah"

Whoa... they should rename him the Overpowered Man.

It's pretty good for the first episode, it builds up the explanation on his powers and his love of fighting, but he can't enjoy it much because he killed everyone in one punch.

That part with the brothers are hilarious lol. Also what's with the dream... oh well, I guess having the bald guy's city destroyed in 1 episode wouldn't be fun.

The main character doesn't seem to care much about his surroundings... I wonder if he will change this traits. I also wonder how the story will go, somehow being overpowered doesn't give too much of a story. I hope it gets interesting later, although the animation and comedic value is worth praising.

Also is that first enemy in this episode is voiced by the same guy who voiced Ceasar on One Piece and Mayuri on Bleach? Because it sounded kind of similar.

But why. My soul hurts. WHY SHOW HIM LOOKING SO HOT WITH HAIR. I'm so fickle yes lol now i'm gonna have to continue the rest of the show seeing a bald head man with the memory of a hot one.

Nah but his comical appearance has already grown on me. I like how he gets more cooler looking when he's fighting tho.

I’ve only read 20 something chapters of the manga and it wasn’t that great tbh but so far I’m liking the anime a lot more than I liked the manga. The fights were beautifully animated and especially the dream one, Saitama was badass in it. The OP was great as well. In the end though the first episode wasn't mind blowing imo but it's just the first episode and I'm looking forward to see the rest of the fights getting just as beautifully animated as the ones in this episode.

Decent opening episode to a new anime. While it didn't make me laugh at all, the action scenes were pretty entertaining. Will see how the story (and comedy) develops over the next few episodes.
