If people need translations, i've been keeping seasonal lists (as I used to do) out of habit... I guess Aniplex won't announce sequels to their old successful shows as fast anymore seeing that both Working!!! and DRRR!x2 bombed. Sad to see. It's been over three years since the previous season of Working! ended, so a lot of viewers moved on to other franchises. Besides, it's the final season and the manga has ended, so this is probably what's left of the fandom it once had. Can't say I'm surprised. |

That's enough for another season, in most cases. 4000円(3683) = 14 732 000円 = $118.4k USD Not to mention that this is only the first volume. |

This, nearly four years since it's second season back in 2011. So it's not surprising to see the sales drop. Either way, I'm happy to see that the third season is doing alright and not completely fallen off the charts. |

I’d say Working!!! is doing fine, taking in consideration that the manga already ended last year (Nov. 2014), and that it’s been almost 4 years since the second season was released. That Working!!! cover is cute, btw..... Xenocrisi said: So there's hope for another season? This last season will/should cover what’s left of the manga, so there is no need for more. |

'Most cases' is being rather generous, most shows don't see a S2. With sales like that it would depend entirely on how the source material was selling. That and going by Working!!'s past sales, it would certainly look a little on the bad side of the show. Going by this post though, those numbers would just but about put a dent in the cost. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2015-08-13/anime-insiders-share-how-much-producing-a-season-costs/.91536 Sales usually drop with each volume as well. I doubt they're that happy with these sales considering how large the franchise used to be. |

SweetCoconut said: Working!!! Top 1 this week, wow. After 4 years of gap, its still popular. Not exactly if you've been paying any attention whatsoever to the discussion in the thread. Pretty much nothing came out this week so being at number 1 for anime was an absolute cakewalk but it's still clear that show has fallen off massively. Also how could it have another season if the manga I done and dusted. It's like people just do not pay even the slightest attention to literally anything being said in these threads. They just come in and comment about what they would like to believe is reality. This season currently on pace to continue the trend of absolutely dismal BD sales of late and the interest remains whether anything besides Symphogear can even Crack 10K, yet I know you're going to have people sitting around acting like everything is great and their favorite show is just absolutely killing it over in Japan in the pretty much rapidly declining late night anime BD market. |

Overlord will sell great regardless of 10k It's kind of the point where I say okay that's like a noticeably well above average hit that's worth saying something about. kuuderes_shadow said: ^and you're going too far the other way. How? Better yet what does that even mean? Unless something really changes this season is on track to have pretty dismal sales even by Summer standards which kind of makes sense as there's just hardly anything new that's capturing Japan's attention and tons of shows that are in their 3rd 4th or even 5th seasons that are just suffering from natural franchise decay. How does acknowledging this go too far in any particular direction so much as simply reflect reality. If you ask me it just seems like other people always seem to think everything is just going fantastic and don't even seem to realize what the numbers actually mean and/or just have really poor short term memories to realize how things were going on average even 4 years ago. How long before we're sitting around cheerleading the R2 market for managing a show that crosses the 3K mark and saying "boy that's great, that shows just killing it over there". It just seems laughable to me. The market is clearly in a recession if you look at the numbers as a whole lately as opposed to just whatever your favorite show is and/or are just seeing what you want to see and replying with some generic cheerleading comment. Why is acknowledging this bad and why do people seem to be either oblivious to it and not confront the reality. No I'm not trying to say something like anime is doomed, but just that the BD market is clearly struggling these days in comparison to even a couple years ago. |

You do know it usually takes $100k+ to make one episode right? I wouldn't say it bombed, but they most certainly didn't make a profit or break even from it either. To at least break even a series has to at least sale 6k per volume. If it makes that much or more there is a good chance of another season. Also some things that have low sales do get second seasons cause they are planned months in advance or they have the budget to do so. Cause Shounen Hollywood got less then 1,000 per volume and yet a season 2 was still made. |

Clearly it's just absolutely crushing it and there's nothing else that ought to be considered here. Just smile and nod. Seriously though I'm starting to wonder about the point of these threads again. It's literally like people just come in and go "oh I actually recognize that shows name so good on that one". Also maybe Overlord actually doing well for Madhouse along with things like Mahouka and No Game No Life has something to do with it being based on a Light Novel and thus ACTUALLY targeted at the Blu-Ray collecting audience. Then again maybe people should just spin what I say into something stupid and completely misunderstand my point or just ignore it altogether cause it's potentially inconvenient to a narrative people want to believe. Just saying. |
