What a shame, I was accustomed to Poker face and Tokimune, and their raids! XD
Episode that brings out the various intentions made manifest in the plot, but it also expresses the will "maybe" to carry on events arising from this final.
It almost seems that this entire first season was a bridgehead to tell then, the real story.
Who knows if there will be a second season, I'd be happy.
Anime a little more serious than A / Z, even though there was less spectacular result compared to the last.
A TV series sincere in the narrative, which still managed to keep me company, while not excelling in the drawings.
For now, my vote is 7/10!

Not the best anime out there but it was interesting to watch and it had it's moments.

The ending was ok and also had it's moments.
Even if Suguro made a mistake with Jamie's farewell packets by three digits it's not like he needed it, seeing what happened.
And Jamie won't have to look very hard for work judging by her reaction and earlier deposits she had she won't have to worry about money.
Probably a nice way to start of a life together with Tokimune.

I was leaning towards an 8/10 depending on how it ended and wow. That was way too abrupt and somewhat confusing. 6/10 overall.

Richthofen, dying not being able to achieve anything and without Arge and Tokimune even noticing him at the end...: not relevant till the end, huh.

I didn't expect Samonji to survive, but that dumbfounded face on the always emotionless Samonji when Suzushiro shot Cayenne was the best.

What I'm most sad about is Arge "dying". I wish they reanimated it somehow, it's the coolest robot of the series, and I always loved seeing it in action.

At the beginning I thought, wow here is a series where the main isn't OP right off the bat with likable, decent characters, consistent plot development, and no forced drama. Then as the series went on I was like well okay maybe I just need to wait for it to develop. By ep. 20 I still had some hope, but by the time I finished ep. 24 I realized that the plot development had been a flat line all along. There wasn't a single character that really compelled me to care about him/her, and although it made a decent wrap-up at the end...ultimately the story just wasn't much -- the bit with Reika was probably the peak now that I think of it.

There's some setup for 2nd season, but as much as I like to follow through on series, Arge left me with a pretty meh impression as it is. It was more disappointing than M3, to put things in context.

I quite liked this show to be honest. Sure it's not Oscar material, but its real virtue is that it never pretended to be either. I'm just tired of all those shows that forcibly try to be smart, and more often than not those "shocking" character deaths are just plain unecessary. Argevollen was a welcome relief, instead of "look at me, I'm so !@#$%^&* deep", they decided to just go with "look at me".

I liked how there was no redemption for, nor reconciliation with Samonji, I liked how Suzushiro ignored him, rather than have him ignore her. I liked how, unlike as in most mecha anime, the overpowered hero mech itself isn’t used to carry the whole show, but rather to compensate for the MC’s lack of skill, and thus enable this interesting character concept that we would otherwise have no explanation for surviving the first minor skirmish. I liked how we got no confirmation of shipped couples, except for the hidden-in-plain-sight ones no one was paying any real attention to (Lorenz & Akane). We even had the most obviously shipped combo: Tokimune & Jaime, underlined as “platonic” in the end.

Most of all though, I liked how the plot progression, however thick or thin it might have been, was not driven by stupidity and wrong decisions. Issues? Talk it out (or have your men punch you). Conspiracy detected? Inform friends. Found out something in general, or got a hunch? Share it. No Lelouch & Euphemia style !@#$ ups, no Slaine, and no waiting several episodes before character A finds out that character B standing right next to him needs to poop. This has been such a dissapointment in so many shows and movies, I guess having Argevollen doing it right alone makes it worth watching it.

In summary, refreshingly consistent I'd say.

did suguro just get shot in the head, that was the most surprising moment in the entire anime, it was amazing and pretty tragic.....
too bad the rest of the anime wasnt that good.

Yeah, I did not rejoice at that. The whole show you're left wondering what kind of guy the cheerfull one is, then when you finally find out he's actually OK (just with a businesslike attitude towards his job of dubious morality), he gets whacked.

Quasimondo was nice enough to execute Suguro *after* Jamie got her payment. ;)

Haha that's what I was gonna say. Good for Jamie.

Lol what at the bolded part. Cracked me up XD But yeah, I agree that it was refreshing in those terms, that's why people said it was nice that this series is a realistic take on war. But in the end, I think people just found it quite boring because nothing that happened was particularly memorable. Which is also why I believe most people rated it at least a 5, because it really wasn't bad at all or had tons of flaws, just mediocre.

You know it's been kind of a roller coaster for me. I appreciate the realistic view of a mecha without the random power ups and just in general, even though they weren't that well executed, the politics within the military. Really though there was just too much introduced that wasn't elaborated enough on for my tastes ((the war profiteers, the fact that Reika seemed to be in Arge, a lot of the relationships in the show, etcetera etcetera)) that I find it very hard to give it a good score. The fact that the production values were rather low and it felt a little too long for the amount of actual plot progression we got also served to undermine it really. Overall I'm feeling a 4/10 for this one ((a score that another mecha starting with A in the year of 2014 got from me...for completely different reason I can assure you)).

Great sto...I mean animation ( except character's design that could be endless times better )
The story had so much potential , more info about war and more drama and this could have been the new Gundam .

okay for a military show with mechas. Argevollen looks cool. but thats the higlight of this show (beside the opening songs from Kotoko). a little bit military cruelty and conspiracy was also shown, thats another + for this show, but it felt defenitly not so intense as it could have been. some war love stories where painted, but the colour was not rly colourful and finaly went out before the love picture was completed. setting was okay, the story also had its potential. the ideas for the charas also were okay, especially Samonji, but again: no colourful colours were used … many wasted chara developements like the company head or the enemy general or the intelligenc men or the adjutant of the enemy pilot and the enemy pilot himself … this show with a quality like maybe evangelion would be over 0,9, but this quality is missing and so its a blank military story. 0,61 from me.

Disappointing series. No character stood out, but none shined either. Everyone was average especially, Tsukimune. Even Lorenz flirtatious character couldn't add any pep to this group.
I liked the old mechanic guy and ended up liking Suzushiro in the last episode. Prior to that I just thought her a yes woman, following a guy that could care less about about her, who wasstill carrying a torch for a past, deceased love. I felt she deserved better and, in the end, I think she realized it too. Samonji was a jerk on so many levels.

rating - 6.5/10

I thought it had potential by the first episode, too bad it has done nothing else but disappoint me every episode after. Even so it's still better than Aldnoah.

I don't know how I finished this. It took a while, but I eventually drudged through it just to finish it. Now I'm left thinking why did I bother. Talk about average in every way. Nothing stood out. The characters were bland. The mechs were just whatever. A random peace treaty. Whatever. Never really learned much of anything about the enemies to begin with. Even calling it average seems a bit generous as it just seemed bad.

Was there a romantic resolution at the end? Samonji-Suzushiro or Tokimune-Jamie?

Samonji would obviously attempt to talk to Suzushiro, I can't imagine him leaving the situation as it is.
She went through shit just to save him, after all. And then walked away without saying anything.
He has lots of atoning & appeasing to do.

He needs to thank her and apologise for his stupidity, especially to the others in Unit 8 and of course, to Tokimune :)

Accept He probably has no plans of doing so. It's because he cares for them he doesn't wish to involve them. Them being upset with him, will keep them away from him so he can work on his goals until the day he dies. He is pretty much looking for 2 things. Death, and achieving the dreams of the girl he loved but died.

So no, he most likely will not be talking to them or explaining anything to them. He doesn't want their forgiveness. He probably doesn't even think he deserves it. So he won't ask. He has a selfloathing thing going on as well i'd guess, so to him it would be a fair punnishment to have them cut out of his life.

My guesses are he will not try to reach out to them, for both their sake, and because he feels he doesn't deserve them in his life as he is now anyway.

He will focus on those dreams she had now, untill the day he dies.

If a second season happens, I can see him crossing over, because the guy he is going to talk too by the ending of this, also has dreams about a war withoud deaths.

They share ideals, sort off. So odds are they will end up working together.

Of course thats speculation as there is no season 2 at this point and I have no clue if this thing has a manga, nor did this anime catch my attention enough to start reading it if there was one. :P

I did like enjoy Samonji, because he was an interesting character. My favorite episode in this whole anime was the flashback one about him and the girl who he loved before she died.

All of that being sad, just because he needs to do a lot to even start atoning, just because he should talk to her to get her to forgive, doesn't mean he will, because in the end, he thinks they deserve better. He doesn't care about forgiveness, or thats the impression I get of him anyhow.

In a way thats refreshing. Never do anything you will wish to apolegise for right? Samonji might have done things he isn't proud or happy about, but he doesn't regret them because in the end, he had a reason, justified or not, that he will follow till the day he dies. He doesn't act like his way is the right way. He just does it because he believes it's her way, and he will follow her/look only at her.

I think :P

Mah in the end I give this anime a 6/10. But only because of Samonji and Suzuhiro and the flashback episode.
If there comes another season I want a prequal. That woman who died was the most interesting character out of this anime and it would have been great to see more of her.

Well it was an okay show from a mecha/action point of view with a military theme. The story made sense for most part but felt lacking from time to time. And the last episode was so blah. I was hoping for a more meaningful conclusion instead of cliffhanger.

The major issue was that main characters hardly had any major development. A typical boring cast of characters. None interesting enough to remember. Even that dude Richthofen or whatever his dumb name is should have been dead but instead they delayed his death pointlessly due to lack of any genuine villains since all were driven by personal ambitions.

I don't know if Xebec is planning on a season 2 since it seemed that way towards the end but before they do I seriously hope they fix the series.

Despite the average start, it showed some promise halfway through..
The direction for the voyage was bad while building up for the finale battle. It feels like they just went round and round.
For the two cour they had, so much more could be done but too much time wasted on needless things, it's a shame.
The setting and what not are not bad but I guess they fail to deliver properly on few occasions.
I did enjoy the journey along the way so it's alright, wouldn't say it's a waste of time.
Tokimune and Jamie was left hanging.. forget a kiss but not even a hug. T^T
For those who stuck out throughout should mostly felt disappointed at this series.
Things could be better, especially the last few episodes.
The only justice is when Suguro died HAHAHAHA.

Argevollen anime shines when it deals with Samonji and all of his superiors, AND when it deals with the blue color uniform military

But this anime really gets dull and stupid when the main cast of Independent Unit 8 outside of Samonji are interacting or their everyday lives becomes the focus.  Too comical and it can be a drag.

anywho, good anime, one of the best mechas ive seen, if not the best overall.
