"The Requiem for Us" eh? Going to the New World, the title and the context is both fitting and proper. LOL

So Zoro and Franky aren't accountable to that pinky promise? Franky did a little finger wiggle on the next scene so maybe it's just Zoro.

Nice ending to the arc, goodbye Shirahoshi~♥
Robin looked so good in that new dress and Nami with her new hair style looked closer to the younger Nami :D

Actually looking forward to fillers for the first time, hopefully will have enough of em, for next arc to proceed in a good pace.

Ending was meh, but it had a few funny moments. Especially Zoro vs Sanji and Nami vs Luffy.

And I was surprised that the prediction wasn't that Luffy "destroyed" the hatred all Fishmen had for humans, but the destruction of Fishman Island will still happen. smokes's prediction is pretty damn good. But I'm hoping for someone else to destroy the island like Big Mam or someone else from the New World for something Luffy did and the Straw Hats get there to witness its destruction and can only help with the evacuation. It would be an awesome dark chapter in the One Piece story. Like Water 7.

Fingers crossed.

Luffy's line at the end about being on the same sea as Shanks got me really excited! The Straw Hats are finally entering The New World!

I'm also looking forward to a Luffy vs Smoker fight. A good chance for Luffy to show off his haki and finally land a punch on him.

The battle with Big Mam seems out of their league right now so I think it'll be put off for a while but the thought of The Straw Hats up against a Yonkou and the possibility of Luffy becoming a yonkou is crazy!

The scene with Luffy wrapped around Nami made me a bit skeptical about romance in the anime but I know it'll never happen and I'm glad.
Pirates are evil? The Marines are righteous? These terms have always changed throughout the course of history! Kids who have never seen peace and kids who have never seen war have different values! Those who stand at the top determine what's wrong and what's right! This very place is neutral ground! Justice will prevail, you say? But of course it will! Whoever wins this war becomes justice!

anyway the prediction is still true..
in the future Luffy will destroy the island, and people will be transported on NOAH by those giant fish, by the help of Shirahoshi, to the real world up on the sea...
i guess it'll be when Fishmen will have a pact with humans..
or when Luffy will be pirate king
Anyways, its gonna be awesome.. i can understand transporting the fishmen people to the surface.. though destroying the island is strange.. probably destroying so that they couldn't return to it again and live on the surface for ever.
That's what I thought too ^ It's a cool explanation :P
p.s. Loved Zoro and Sanji's fight once more :D

So the curtain finally closes on Fishman Island!
This was a great episode!

The bromance between Luffy and Jinbe is so strong that they don't even need to use mere words to communicate anymore. Loved how he's also gonna order a crap ton of Straw Hats, so you can bet that everyone on Fishman Island are gonna be walking around in them. The Straw Hats are idols even on the ocean floor.

The bit with Shanks and Ace was sweet as well, I can't believe the crew are finally going to the New World.

The parting with Shirahoshi was also touching...I hope we get to see her again!

After finishing the arc, I really don't get what all the complaints are about. So many people say it's the worst arc in One Piece, when imo that couldn't be further from the truth!

It wasn't the best (Marineford will take some beating), but it certainly wasn't the worst major arc that place is reserved for Alabasta

Onwards and upwards, I guess!

This was a pretty send off as we have come to expect. Seeing everyone say goodbye to their new and old friends, seeing Zoro casually happy at the side of his family, seeing those tiny mermaids cheer for Brook, seeing Luffy say goodbye to the princes who promise they will become stronger, the nice banter between Sanji and Zoro, Franky’s new triumphant hairstyle. Shirahoshi showing how much Luffy has come to mean to her, promising a Coby-esque promise to the crew to stop being a cry baby, and the crew promising back in a similar fashion to their goodbye to Vivi, that they will all come back for her one day. One of my favourite parts had to be the farewell between Luffy and Jimbei, those have been consistently wonderful, when Luffy left Jimbei’s side before the time skip it was great as well. But here having no words but a nod between them showing that they understand each other, they wish each other well, and one day Jimbei will keep his promise and join Luffy’s side was awesome. These two have so much respect for each other and I just love it. But another favourite part of mine was when Jimbei overheard a fishman child discussing Luffy as a hero. Overall the way Oda has written the way hate and prejudice seeps into generation and generation, from Tiger to Jimbei and Arlong to Hordy, true experience and belief changing to central beliefs upon growing up, it was all great. But with Luffy’s victory here today he’s reset the prejudice that has been built up, and for Jimbei, to see the next generation of fishmen mirroring that made him so happy. That wholesome smile of his was so awesome.

On top of that, we finally understood what the minister meant all the way back at the hostage situation when he had said that a normal log pose wouldn't work in the New World. Out here their log poses have three needles, it is a way to understand which islands are more dangerous than others, and help make sure they have a steady line to them despite how the magnetic waves can alter. My first thought was that somehow narratively they would have to choose the most dangerous island, but what escaped me was how Luffy's insanity was totally going to dictate that they went to some insane Islands. Him wrapping around Nami as she freaks out and Usopp and Chopper cry was a nice moment, those two are already concerned about Big Mam, this is even more to worry about!!

To finish it off, we got the sentimental reminder of how far the Straw Hats of come. At one point the idea was that all they had to do was get the ship coated and sail on through, but it didn't end up like that. Still, they finally made it, they made it to Shank’s sea, the final sea, the sea in which Luffy can become the king of the pirates! Perhaps meeting Shanks again isn't so far away. Ace wasn’t wrong to believe in Luffy! And this sea is not only important for him, it's important to all of the crew, especially Zoro and Brook as their goals are tangibly linked to getting through the sea as well. It shows Zoro’s strength and skill with stronger foes, and is directly linked to Brook reuniting with Laboon. This was a great scene to preface entering the new world, and if Smoker is waiting for them as we should presume he is, it will feel good to have Luffy able to land a serious hit on that guy now. Logia isn’t so much of a threat anymore!

P.S. Let’s try not to forget about Luffy destroying the island!!! That apparently will still happen, it wasn’t a misguided vision she had like I thought it implied. Instead, Sharley broke her crystal ball because her readings on the future can harshly impact the present in a way that misunderstands the future reading she had. This arc didn’t end up touching more on these future readers we see in One Piece but it did kind of imply that the future is determined as all that 'nothing can change her future readings' and 'it will still happen' stuff.

The departure hit all of the right notes. I particularly like how Jimbei's life journey has shaped up - from joining a Fish-Man pirate gang to fight for liberation to the promise of joining a human pirate's crew once he has been liberated from his remaining sense of duty.

The farewell to Shirahoshi was also quite sweet. Between her & Vivi, they are two princesses that have made eternal vows of friendship with the Straw Hats.

The New World hype is real. I'm nearing the point where I left off so many years ago and I'm beyond words as I imagine what's in store once I journey into uncharted territory once more.

The standard, slow farewell episode.

The new log pose is interesting, and allows for more variety than than the single island hopping in the first half (no idea why it isn't used there too). Did Luffy have to be so creepy with Nami there though? With Luffy being the way he is, I wonder how often he'll demand they go to the worst island instead of the safest ones? I'm just surprised that after all her weather study over 2 years, Nami was never intrduced to the tri-needle log pose that is needed for safe navigation in the New World. Guess that is how those other 2 rookies from Luffy's group ended up sailing to their dooms.

Just mini film arc, Film Z and then we can get going to the true new world.

Don't undersand why Camie and Sharley didn't discuss that pre-vision more. Ok, we'll assume it is completely accurate and WILL happen at some point. They both know Luffy and what he's like now. If it is cut and dry that he will actually physically destroy the island and not just in some roundabout metaphorical way, there will be a good reason to. If it was to play out anything like Hordy's near victory, then the residents will even be asking him to. That destruction is likely to be the same day as the Noah is finally used, if it's purpose is similar in nature to the Biblical story. Residents all board to relocate to the surface, island gets destroyed (for whatever reason that means they can't just leave it).

This episode reminds me of the end of Albasta. Going to miss all the side characters like Camey, Hatchi, Popagu, the king and his sons, and this princess. Even more then Vivi I feel like she will be huge in the endgame of one piece. And I’m afraid that prophecy still might come true. But maybe that means all the Fishman will be living above ground.

Only thing I wish was Jinbae would join, but I’m sure he will at some point. Still officially one more episode in the Fishman arc. But this does seem like the end of these characters for awhile.
