Yeah u guessed right. the twelve kingdoms is a world based on Chinese mythology.its a adult anime perfect for u
btw you can skip the last five episodes(its just a recap episode)the true ending is episode 39.
I think u will like it . (What is leadership? one of the questions that this anime will answer)

I am watching an old anime called The Twelve Kingdoms or Juuni Kokuki in Japanese .
this anime is like the game of thrones of the east lol.its character development what make this show interesting .but The first few eps are painful,i'll just say the heroine annoyed the hell out of me (her attitude).but it really does get hugely better later on.What a story, one of the most beautiful anime I have seen in a long time. Tons of life lessons to be learned from every episode.I am at episode 37.(unique story)
I did not like the characters at first but they grew so well.
