Right now I strictly just download, but I'm thinking of getting back into streaming I plan to re-buy my netlfix, hulu, and crunchyroll subscriptions, but I've been a pirate for to long what do you guys think I should do?

Netflix is fine since you can watch other shit than just anime. Hulu and Crunchyroll both suck.

I purely download unless the download is not available. Then I stream it. I doubt those 4 people who claimed the last option have actually watched everything legally.
Now that I think about it, I don't think crunchyroll is worth it re buying but hulu plus and netflix thats a great combo.

jk, who does that seriously?

Hmm. I do :p
Even if the availability in Belgium sucks (it's worse than average EU availability). 5$ a month is affordable, it's like working 0.5 hr for a month of anime.

But, even so, I'm only doing it because I'm currently watching 3 anime that are on there at the moment. Won't sub after I've finished them.
Feel free to recommend me good romance (BL is fine!) or slices-of-life anime I haven't seen yet!

I dislike streaming but it's the quickiest way to watch any series possibile. Downloading is such a pain when my internet speed comes to my mind.

I never buy DVDs

i assume streams from paid sources (paid crunchyroll membership, netflix) are of HD quality
(of course, still not as good as BD quality)
You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

That usually means there simply are no "good quality" versions out there; some shows are simply low-res anime with no HD versions available. With a lot of shows from the early 00s and before, they were released on DVD in the early/mid-00s, ripped about that time, and never touched by any other groups since. So h264 versions (or even .mkv; they may be .ogm or .avi) will be unlikely, and forget about 10-bit. Or some shows aired in Japan in the early/mid-00s, had .avi TV-rips at the time, but never got licensed and never got the DVD/softsub re-release treatment.

Streaming (Crunchyroll, Hulu) is my primary way to watch anime. If it's not available, then I'll download it. I don't usually buy anime on DVD/blu-ray cuz the prices are usually inflated beyond belief.

This made me giggle.

I always download, never stream.
As for buying, I don't own a single dvd/blu-ray. I would buy all my favourite anime just for collection purposes if I would have too much spare money.
But minimally I support the anime industry by occasionally buying figures or other merchandise like Jojo tights, haha.

What I do is download or stream one or two episodes. If the show is good enough, then buy the DVD. If not, just continue streaming or downloading.

And when I do buy a DVD and really REALLY enjoy a show, I rip it and backup a few digital copies for preservation.

I like to buy what I can preferably. It feels good knowing that I have a physical retail copy of what I'm watching. (My internet isn't the best either) I usually walk into Best Buy hoping for something new in the anime section. But it doesn't mean I don't like to stream when I'm interested in something.

Jesus. You must have wasted a lot of money if you only judge a series based on one-two episodes.

I can say that for probably three of the anime I bought. The others though, I believe it was worth it.

Ironically, my favorite anime of all time? I bought it without even knowing what it was about or watching a single preview. I just happened to see it in the store and thought, why not? Never expected to love Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere so much.

I use to stream, until I cant stand Horriblesubs anymore. They're the quickest hence they get uploaded to stream sites. Now I just download frow which ever sub group does it best. If its an older anime, pirate the BD, cause I cant possibly buy every BD of the show I want to watch.

I try to buy anime as much as i can but most of the anime i watched i just downloaded. America does have things pretty good and lot of things can be gotten cheap and there is a lot of releases.

MVM seems to be putting out decent amount of stuff for decent prices (though their releases aren't exactly the best quality) in Europe but they are more focused on 2000+ series.

Manga Entertainment doesn't seem to put out much and i think the third big publisher went out of business year or two ago.

Stream.

Downloading takes time and effort. Why spend 10 minutes finding 1080p BD to wait two hours for downloading? It's faster for me to just stream at 720 - 1080p (Even if streaming quality is worse)

I do spend around 6 - 8 hours per day watching Anime. Downloading for people who watch one Anime series per week is fine and worth it but it's pointless for me to download a new series every day or two only to delete it for space when I can stream at near the same quality.

Assuming you have a decent internet speed. I'm assuming this because you said 1080 bd

First off why download 1080 BD upscale? 80% of 1080 are really 720 upscaled

But even if you want to, its not like you can't download the episodes while prioritizing the first, second etc..
It will take you 5-10 minutes to download the first episode, assuming you download the highest file size you can find, which as I mentioned is a waste, and then every episode after that will be ready before you even reach the middle of a 12 ep show.

I'm actually doing a little bit of all three.

First, I'll see if I like something on CR. If whatever I want isn't on CR or Netflix, I'll have to find a DL site.
If I really really love a series, I'll probably buy a boxset.

True but the sites that I stream from offer decent quality and its fine for me considering how picky I get when downloading. I'm picky when it comes to finding the best sub group for the Anime, the highest quality and the uncensored versions. It's difficult to find certain Anime for download that meets my expectations, especially when considering the amount of seeders required also.

My internet speed is better than most but some series are 10-20GB and It's just pointless for me. The quality is good enough for my eyes, it's not perfect but I am considering buying the Bluerays for my highest rated shows because of the issues with bad fan subbing or bad encoding and yes I'm a perfectionist... for some things.

I just find it more convenient to open my browser and watch pretty much any series in (almost) the same quality instantly. I have downloaded shows in the past and I'd consider doing it again if streaming sites suddenly got taken down but for now, I'm pretty happy :) Guess it depends on the person and what they need/want.
