If it ends up just being a 1-cour with that pace it will definitely suck, but there are countless great 2cour or longer shows that aren't even close to 'getting to the point' after 3 episodes. I don't think a good show SHOULD get to the point after only 3 episodes, unless it's 1-cour maybe. The lack of being able to take their time and properly introduce and set up things is one of the most annoying things about the modern tradition of having shorter and shorter anime seasons, imo. So even though some of the directing in the early Yona episodes was questionable, I still appreciate their approach and just hope it's a sign that the show is planned to be a bit longer and not end without ever climaxing like Nobunaga Concerto. I wasn't saying that it was void of shoujo tropes because of the setting but the historical counterpart already made it worth watching even if everything else was cliche or generic (two words people always use when talking about shoujo lmao). It's most likely longer than one cour because it hasn't even gotten the announcement at this point (halfway in the season) that it'd be only 12/13 eps. I won't argue about the love triangle because it's true that it's pretty cliche, although there are cliche love triangles everywhere. |
