| Yup, just avoid em like me. I can see the appeal for people like harems. Maybe it turns them on. Maybe they like imagining girls are all over them. Maybe some other reason. Who knows. All I know is that I don't enjoy them nor the idea of them, so I typically steer clear of them. |

| I mostly watch otome, but it suffers the same problems with flat/whiny/doormat MCs except surrounded by hot guys. There are a couple exceptions though. |

| Nisekoi wasn't so bad for a while and it's definitely a harem. It's been getting milked for 100+ chapters and tbh I think I've figured out exactly what they're going to do with the story. It wasn't amazing or great though and had a bit of cringe. I think if any harems come along with a funny MC like the one from Clannad or Kanon who isn't a total mess around women it could be pretty great so long as there is witty banter and good dialogue. I don't think I hate any genre. It just depends on the individual quality of that show. Well, unless there's a genre for "moeblow loli ecchi". That'd be pretty fucking annoying because it would be anti-witty banter and no good dialogue. As for Nisekoi I think... |

| "Harem" is such a broad genre to completely write off. There are plenty of harem shows that are enjoyable and plenty that are not. One harem show can be completely different from another. I don't seek out harem shows, but I don't avoid them either. Right now, I'm really enjoying Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!? It's not breaking any barriers or changing my life, but all the girls are really cute, the MC is likeable, the comedy is good and the interactions between the characters is entertaining. It's as simple as that. |
