THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This was a solid episode. The bulk of it dealt with an attack on the Hellsing agencies headquarters while the members of the roundtable were inhouse. These events happen in the series and are quite similarly portrayed here... except with better animation and more "details".

At the beginning of the episode Hellsing discovers the chips that are allowing someone to create the instant vampires. Alucard gets the Jackal (the black gun) and Victoria gets her gigantic rifle. During the attack both go crazy and kill a bunch of stuff. Also, like in the series Walter gets into the fight using the razor wire.

Another great episode.

This is one of my favourite episodes of Hellsing.
I simply adore the Valentine brothers, Luke and Jan are just beyond words both hilarious and awesome. It really sucked that Luke became a wimpy lame-o right before he was about to die though. I think he should have kept going strong, he must have known he was going to die so why not go out in style and attitude?~ haha

Walter instantly became my second favourite character in the show once I saw what he could really do. He even has a image folder on my computer *laughs*.
The Angel of Death fighting with those wires, the precision of it all and just the air that he knew he was going to win. I must admit, I swooned~

It's too bad they didn't animate Luke and Jan's ranting corner at the end of the episodes. But at least Luke will have another appearance...of sorts...

I liked this episode better than the TV series, spectacular animation and blood, blood, guts and more blood.

Integra is a much more interesting character in the OVA version than in the TV series with no doubt.

What the fuck? Was that Hitler in the end of the episode? Lmao anyways this was a very great episode. Apparently people in this Anime don't die even if they get shot by a bullet in the head, lol. Also, I love how everyone seems to look like a total badass. This is proably the first time I will that if a person is wearing a glasses, he or she will automatically be a badass.

Alucard, as usual, was awesome in this episode. Guess what? Apparently he wasn't even fighting seriously, lool. I wonder how he fights when he's serious. Also, that flashback of his was also pretty interesting. I wonder who killed him.

Pretty awesome episode. Now we get to see the third group, Millenia. Very awesome, as long as Victoria and Walter. Hellsing organization is sure one motherfucking badass group.

Hitler had a moustache and didn't wear glasses like that, so it probably isn't. But it'll be revealed who it is.

Nice episode, the Valentine brothers are designed better than the original anime. About the nazi... what can I say, it's kind of overused, but let's see where this would lead to.
Btw, it's hard not to notice, but Seras's boobs are huga O.O

So much badassery in this ep. I was surprised that Walter can be that awesome. =p

And the gore, I liked it. XD

Also, didn't thought that Integra really cared for her army. What a true commander.

This was a lot better than the first episode. The music actually fit pretty well with the scenes and the VA's did their job with top marks. I imagined Luke's voice to be a bit more like Kira from Bleach, but as the episode went on i got used to his current voice.

The pacing was really good and some of the scenes went just like i imagined them to go inside my head. Also the extra scenes where Luke and Jan kill some soldiers were surpisingly good for stuff that wasn't in the original. A personal favorite was where Luke jumps behind a soldier and the look on his face tells that he is either mildly annoyed or bored.

The gore was also upped from the last episode and actually made me grinch. Especially the eyepopping. UGH. And the gunporn was a lot better too.

Overall it was a pretty awesome episode. No wonder when the source material volume makes you want to read the entire manga.

I think Alucard's most endearing trait is that whenever he finds himself surrounded by mobs with automatic weapons, he doesn't even try to attack, dodge or stop the hail of bullets. Instead he has the curtesy to stand there and let them unload on him till they're out of lead before he even lifts a finger against them.
Ooo, what a lovely tea party.

Well is not that hard to figure out, since only one person should be mentioned as Dracula's killer, Dr. Abraham Van Helsing.

Awesome episode btw, pretty much here's where the tv show ends (or should i say, starts filling up with made up crap). New plot is awaiting on ch3!

Cute and violence have always gone together in many manga. Those chibi scenes are in the original Hellsing manga. Seras at this stage in the story still has her innocence, before she fully transforms into a vampire. Those chibi scenes essentially represent this innocent part of her character. ;)

If you still don't get it, think of a series like Elfen lied. Innocence and violence are the 2 different sides of Lucy, the main character. You should watch Elfen lied, if you have not already.

Just because they were in the original manga doesn't mean they were still good.

There's a way do it that doesn't resort to complete and utter mood derailment and soundtrack/animation dissonance: It's called good writing. You can portray her innocence without completely destroying the overarching tone.

Not sure why you are questioning the style, most if not all anime tend to have echhi/mood change up from time to time. Just because it doesn't appeal to you doesn't make it bad.

There is action and then there is this episode. I loved how Integra and the old men were waiting in the room with their guns. And Alucard releasing his true powers makes you almost feel sorry for the other guy.

How does it not fit in? Hellsing was NEVER a dead-serious anime or manga, if anything it's pulpy action packed fun.

If you've got a problem with characters acting silly then you'll have a problem with 99% of anime.

i've watched this on the funimation blu ray, and i was mildly disappointed with the quality.

sometimes it looks like DVD quality, other times it's BD.

like the scene when Sera's talking about the coffin with Walter.

you can see how low quality it is :\

but other than that amazing episode as always.

i wonder if the JPN BD are much better(as always)

the weapons prepared by Walter are the best!!!

i also almost forgotten how awesome Walter is(The Angel of Death!)

the Valentine brother's got fucked up so bad, and i feel sorry for Integra having to kill her comrades herself.

Luke got scared at the Vampire master :P

the next episode is gonna be interesting!!!!!!

love this series, i might read the manga soon!

No, they are the same. Thing is, episodes 1-5 were originally DVD-only, episode 6 was the first one to hit BDs. Later they've remastered 1-5 into the new format, OVA1 looked the worst, so it has been redrawn heavily taking much of the time and budget, so now it is one of the best looking episodes. OVA2 was one of the best looking on DVDs, so I have a feeling they've got to it last when there were no time and money left. OVA3 looks more HD-ish overall, OVA4 only have one blurry scene in the beginning, OVA5 is all good except maybe for a paler color scheme at times (was also paler on DVD, almost like that's the way they wanted it to be for some reason).

I enjoyed the first episode but this was definitely an improvement. It was more focused and the fight scenes were better too.

Also, even more blood this time around - if they keep steadily increasing it each time then I bet the finale will just be pure blood.
