RIP, though I've never watched any of his works, a few of them have been in my PTW list for a while.

Wow, this is sad news. :-( I really like Serial Experiments Lain and I hope to see some other anime that he has been involved in. It's a shame he can't direct more now but he has left behind something that he'll for ever be remembered and respected for. Rest in peace.

He set the standard for thought provoking and surreal anime, one which will stand as a monument to his ability. SEL and Kino's Journey are timeless, and I'm grateful to have experienced such art.

Rather than feeling sad, I feel a lot of gratitude for him. I thank him for the work that he's done, and I hope that his works will continue on in the future by minds that may not be his, but will live up to and possibly surpass what he has set forth. Something like that anyways.

I suddenly feel terrible for bashing Kino no Tabi the other day. Sad news, indeed.

And don't forget about Ghost Hound, guys.

Although Lain was quite different, I still appreciated it. Kino no Tabi, on the other hand, is still one of my favorites and it is sad to hear that the director of this beautiful anime has lost against cancer and passed away. Rest in peace.

Wait... this was just last month o_o? And just about a week right afterwards, I watched "Serial Experiments Lain" for the first time, and I finished "Ghost Hound" just last night, too... oh gosh... that really, really sucks. Can't believe we lost another great director. Had the same fate as Satoshi Kon. Wow...

It's like a lot of great directors are just dying these days. That's really sad, it hurts to hear that. Rest in peace, Ryuutaro. Thanks for the amazing legacy you left behind.

Loved despera and kino.

I am still fapping to all the girl members of the flower brigade.

Sakura wars OP is still my favorite OP from the early days.

He butchered the adaption of REC.

He could've been the main director in shaft if it wasn't for that cancer.

I still don't know what the heck is going on in Lain up to this day.

He is a good director RIP.

Oh darn.

I personally think both Lain and Kino were on the weaker side of his works, but Rec and Colorful were totally awesome.

RIP Nakamura-sensei. :(

I had a hunch something was wrong when Despera got cancelled. Losing a man as talented as he was is truly a loss to the industry. I wish his family the best and that they'll get through this.

His works were amazing... Lain, Kino, Ghost Hound... I'm very sad for this, but more than that, I thank him too. I loved his works, and even if it's a bit, changed slightly my person. Little, but changed. I hope his works will be watched by many people than those already watch and inspires another works in the future.
Strength to his family.
Anyway, he can rest in peace now.
Dude, you're amazing. Good luck.

Serial Experiments Lain is the most brilliant anime ever and one of the greatest things to grace this planet.

He has changed lives (mine included) and left being a creative genius who will never be forgotten.

Right now I imagine he's living big in the afterlife with the likes of Satoshi Kon.
Lain is probably comforting him there too.
