Oh that's too bad to hear then, I thought that the first season was pretty decent actually. Was it the lack of character development or plot issues?

Greetings! I've recently just started a club with a very specific purpose and I was wondering if you were interested in joining and/or if I could use some of your reviews for it

The purpose of this club is to try and create a community of talented writers who would like to make a more reliable scoring system than the one currently provided by MyAnimeList. Instead of a show being scored by a hundred thousand no-names, we would have the scores for a show coming from well-written reviews by anyone who is willing to participate. All of these reviews will be able to be accessed through our forums, so the mean score for each show will be more personal, since you'll know who's contributing and who isn't, and you can read what everyone thinks.

If you're still not entirely sure if this club is for you, you can go HERE for more details

This is a very new club, so things are barely put together, but I need some starting members to get the gears rolling.

If you’re not particularly interested in joining, I would like to know if I can have permission to use some of your reviews for the aggregation.

ToZ s2 was that bad then?

I'm seriously thinking very well to watch or not this Sora no Kiseki Ovas, I played both games (the third will be out in May as long as I'm concerned) and loved them, personally, one of the best JRPG I ever played...

I wonder if with the release of the 3rd game (globally) we will recieve a properly adaptation of it, with proper development and all that. the level of character development and quotes this game has is beyond MANY other games and anime I've seen so far (I'll appreciate Mother's Basement for introducing me into the game)

Since someone else brought it up, great Mahouka review, encapsulated all the reasons that I hated that show, found it boring and frustrating.

Say what you will about Sword Art Online, but at least in that show, there were attempts at tension and Kirito actually had emotional problems and reactions to certain situations, as opposed to monotoning through everything and everyone with no effort at all preaching his beliefs everyone else needed to follow. The characters there were average people trapped in a deadly environment, cut off from their house and family, having to fight monsters in order to survive. Mahouka doesn’t have that; it is just a school where pampered high school kids with super magical skills gather and act like jerks to each other, while teachers and parents pay for their rent and luxury. And even the incest wasn't done as directly since his cousin didn't WANT to fall in love with him and at the end of the arc learned to get over it.
SAO is by no means perfect, I enjoyed quite a good deal and would be willing to defend it to a certain degree, but I feel like the hatedom constantly insisting that it did nothing right and that it is among the worst anime ever made goes too far and forgets about the many worse shows out there, including Mahouka and others you likely thought so for

Here we have a talented reviewer, you are simply amazing and your review of Mahouka is just pure gold. Not only do you touch upon its flaws but also tells the story of shitty adopations of LNs in general. I could take your review and replace the words "Mahouka" or "Tatsuya" with every other protagonist of its kind and it would have not made any difference.

Well written and worded, easy to understand and well structured. I did a review of it myself and i called it pretty much the worst self insert garbage ever to be released from japan. Its like a 10 year old kid wrote its first fanfiction peice. You are so right, Tatsuya is potrayed to be a victim, yeah, the only thing he cannot do is to clean toilets but thats it. Sometimes i wonder what the point with the battles even were, just wasted budget on animation since we allready know who will win.

Keep up the good work, you are truly fantastic.

Your Mahouka review really opened my eyes. I merely went out of my way to vehemently criticize the Ultimste Gary Stu MC, the show's monotonous nature, its poor story decisions, it's genericness, it's pathetically had characters, it's awful visual presentation, and it's abysmal OST. I didn't even know how hypocritical and morally repugnant this fucking abomination. FUCK MAHOUKA KOUKOU NO RETTOUSEI!!!

Yet somehow, it's not even the worst anime out there. THAT "accomplishment" goes to Hand Shakers: a shoe that is so fundamentally broken in virtually every way imaginable.

I feel that it's unfair for you to say "This show doesn't deserve this good thing that they have going for them just because I dislike it" even though I understand a lot of your points. Why wouldn't they deserve it? They did it themselves didn't they? They don't deserve to make their own good work? This is the biggest thing bugging me about your review of Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry. Other than that, I'd say that I understand why you disliked it. I know that you're probably someone who is kind of picky with their anime so I'll respect that.

What's the point in watching anime when you're blind to anything that's good?

As someone posted a very short while ago.. "PeteLongstocking at Sep 21, 5:49 PM -
You've watched over 700 series, the vast majority of which you consider, to use your own words " Absolutely mediocre and average" Don't you feel like you're wasting your time? It beggars belief that you would willingly and constantly engage in an activity which (if we are to take you at your word) involves wallowing in mediocrity. I'm genuinely curious as to how you justify the time expenditure to yourself? I mean, it seems churlish to suggest that perhaps you are not being entirely honest and exaggerating for some kind of effect? Or perhaps it's merely your review style, looking over your output I'd suggest that your analysis far too often borders on pointless reductionism and frequently fails to take into account any kind of nuanced critique which allows for the realities of genre pieces and their associated tropes and conventions. But as you say, you rate how you want. And honestly its more of an afterthought in the face of what, again by your own words, seems like a truly heroic exercise in masochism."

Yeah. This is pretty much exactly how I felt reading your reviews. Otherwise, you seem like a pretty cool person. I just feel that you half-watch anime that you know you wouldn't like, then criticize them in a way that no person who truly watched through said anime would. Just my opinion, though- I doubt it matters much to you. Cheers.
