| From what I remember they never cared about the armor, they actually used shields to protect themselves. In any case, what type of reason is that? I don't remember this being a plot hole for your "suspension of disbelief" to be in danger or anything. |

Granted, the girls look cute(Though Tohka is about as stereotyypical as one can expect). You know what? Never mind, and thanks for all the services you have done, Symbv MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM EPISODE 1 OF DATE A LIVE. What I meant was: "Oh, look, a girl that looks like a "traditional japanese long-haired beauty" showed up out of nowhere with protective field, damn, she looks so sad!" wouldn't be the first thing that popped in one's mind. I would be rather confused or fearful of what's going on, or wondering where the hell my sister was. ACTs, I am assuming its that thing that Origami belongs to? Which also pissed me off, because it basically compromised entirely of teenage girls wearing revealing clothes My whole gripe about the series is that it presents itself as something realistic, or serious when they mentioned some 20 million people died in a spacequake, that's nothing to joke about. And then we have a time skip into 20 years or so into the future. Okay, well, cities adapted so that they can still live in their normal lives, thats expected. But then, BOOM. Earthquakes are created by super powered teenage girls that wear extremely revealing clothes, oh wait, they have a special sphere? And the squad that was supposed to defeat them does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Which lets me reach the conclusion that all the girls, or the fact that they are teenage girls, is just for pure fanservice, not for serious plot-related purposes. And don't even get me STARTED on how that the little SISTER, a 14 year old or younger, is able to be the captain of a military, or something like that, whatever it is, probably government operated ship that floats in the fucking sky, and is able to live with her brother, without question(I am assuming if she is oh so important, she has to have some time spent into the job, right?) And the... Galge, yeah, use a random generic protagonist, who is OBVIOUSLY the most qualified person for this job, to train using galge. Because if not, the world will end! by the end of the episode, what happens? She turns her clothes into a school uniform... Of course, school uniform, what's next? Maid outfit? Naked Apron? Swimsuit episode? How would she even know what a school uniform is? Can she read his mind? And why was she wearing that shitty outfit before? By the end of the day, I really ought to turn my brain off when watching this kind of show, my main problem was that I begun thinking about it. Honestly, I have nothing against you watching the show or supporting it. I like the animation and the designs, but once you take that out, you have absolutely nothing to talk about. Are there are lot of doujins about the series? Immahnoob said: From what I remember they never cared about the armor Proved my point, why are they wearing that stupid outfit then? | Probably because they NEED that armor for the shields? What I meant by them not caring about the armor is the OLD IDEA of armor that BLOCKS ATTACKS. You know, in the "ol' times" if you had armor and got hit by a blade you had more chances of survival. In this anime the armor is used for the shields, not for it being able to block attacks. Oh, and if you did drop the show then I'm sorry, it seems the brother sealed Kotori which was a Spirit after all, so the "average teenager" isn't average anymore. That's why Kotori chose him. |

GodlyKyon said: Basically you lose right away when you think it is realistic. It is no more realistic than superheroes wearing stupid outfit. As for 20 million people died - does it mean that any story must carry the burden of those dark history? Must the story then must be gloomy and downtrodden? I don't believe this has to be the case - at least for an unrealistic story like Date A Live. I'd repeat - I never think it is realistic and precisely because I never take it this way I n enjoy the whole hell lot of fun in it. You cannot, fine, move on, because this is clearly not for you from the beginning. My whole gripe about the series is that it presents itself as something realistic, or serious when they mentioned some 20 million people died in a spacequake, that's nothing to joke about. To be honest, I have a lot more problem with Hollywood movies or TV series where they spend huge money in making things look realistic but when you think about it there are lots of things that cannot be taken too seriously. At least for anime like Date A Live, I do not need to pass through that stage to know what I need to enjoy it. GodlyKyon said: Yeah, character design is important for LN. I mean, they can set the characters to any type of people - old men, young men, gilrs, boys, old women, even animals. Anything, and none is for serious plot -related purpose. So what? So why are young girls picked? Because that is what is most appealing for its audience. That is the idea. I have no problem with that. Which lets me reach the conclusion that all the girls, or the fact that they are teenage girls, is just for pure fanservice, not for serious plot-related purposes. GodlyKyon said: As I said, so what? Rinne no Langrage, a loli looking girl rules the most powerful military organisation on Earth, for example. This trend of using some kind of girl character as someone on senior commanding level is again to add some fun points and visual appeal. They can use some old chaps of course, but why use them when you can use some girls? LOLAnd don't even get me STARTED on how that the little SISTER, a 14 year old or younger, is able to be the captain of a military, or something like that, whatever it is, probably government operated ship that floats in the fucking sky, and is able to live with her brother, without question(I am assuming if she is oh so important, she has to have some time spent into the job, right?) GodlyKyon said: And for fun. That's it. I do not find it particularly funny, but I can easily shrug it off as a nod to the game lover side of the audience. And the... Galge, yeah, use a random generic protagonist, who is OBVIOUSLY the most qualified person for this job, to train using galge. Because if not, the world will end! GodlyKyon said: You think and you LOSE (in the sense of opportunity to enjoy it). That's all I would say. By the end of the day, I really ought to turn my brain off when watching this kind of show, my main problem was that I begun thinking about it.] GodlyKyon said: No, I still have the fun and laughs left. I can also talk about the music, the directing, the voice acting, the pacing etc. It is only the "serious plot" that westerners so obsessed and put so much weight about that has not much to talk about. Honestly, I have nothing against you watching the show or supporting it. I like the animation and the designs, but once you take that out, you have absolutely nothing to talk about. GodlyKyon said: It has its fair share. Are there are lot of doujins about the series? GodlyKyon said: Why are superman and batman wearing those stupid outfits? To appeal to audience visually is my answer.Proved my point, why are they wearing that stupid outfit then? Everything is in my response to symbv |
