| The poignancy and sorrow surrounding this one episode cannot be matched i think so long as the series keeps going, what was made worse was Luffy's hope in that Ace could be saved, that desperation really added to the whole demise of Ace. Its a shame, but overall a very very good episode full of emotion, and that for me is why background music was not necessary. |

| I still cried even though I heard the spoilers already... I still cried... That's how great one piece is!!! XD I fell in love with Luffy's seiyuu and she's a woman! O.o That's how awesome she is! To make me feel that kind of emotion is really something for a voice actor! (I'm in awe of her voice acting skill even before this... hehe..) Farewell, Ace! You're one of my fave char! =( |

| I read the manga and knew this was coming. I love how they animated it. It actually put me in tears. Lluffy holding Ace, His Last words, then him falling to the ground. It sucks though. I wish they didnt kill my favorite character off but for what comes next it kinda had to happen. |

| I can honestly say that is the most I have ever in my entire life cried over an anime. To me, that was sadder than the Mugiwara separation, or Zoro taking in all Luffy's pain, or Usopp leaving the crew, or burning the Merry, or anything. Also more sad than any anime I've watched, which is really saying something. geez... |
| Yes, it took us 483 episodes to get a death. I was skeptical at first because this is One Piece and like others have said, people only die in flashbacks but I'm actually glad he died. It's kind of ridiculous that it took this long for a character to die. Adds some sense of realism to the fights because there's a chance they can die. Makes it more intense you know? |

| Ace ; ______ ; This is only the second time an anime has made me cry.... ACE!! ; _____ ; I knew it was coming, but still, heartbreaking. I think it would have had more impact if they had left out the flashbacks or just had less, maybe just having the 'flashback voiceover' with the episodes current animation might have worked. It looks like they're going all out on terms of animation quality for Whitebeard's rage next ep, can't wait. Not looking forward if they recap/replay the death though ; _____ ; |

| I didn't cry, I held those tears back like a man cuz… I'm manly. Though even I must admit that Luffy's moment of desperation after all his efforts to save his brother come crashing down as he held his older brother in utter helplessness… was beautifully sad. They pulled it off very well and it was pretty unexpected. One Piece is King. |

| Saddest episode of the series...I was crying during most of it. T.T Luffy with Ace for the final time. RIP Ace...you will always be remembered. I really was hoping Garp was going to kick Akainu's butt. 7/5 for the episode. |

| I can't understand one thing: One Piece made me cry when they were living Alabasta and when they said goodbye to Mister 2 and other times, but WTH THEY DID WITH ACE'S DEATH??? Gosh! It was so... 'ok', not touchable at all! I wanted Luffy screaming his name just like the way he did with Robin and others, it was a big deception for this episode that had everything to be the most amazing of all D: |

| I don't think I've ever cried half as much as I did in this in any episode of any anime ever. Ace ;________; Then again, I'm a huge OP fangirl, so I suppose my opinion doesn't count for much. Being a manga reader, I knew what was coming from the start but that just made every single episode of this arc super depressing since everything Luffy and the Whitebeard pirates went through was just useless. Not to mention when they finally "freed" Ace it was like... ughhh. I don't have words to describe how much I hate Akainu. Ace will be missed dearly. I kept yelling at the screen last episode for him not. to. stop. But he just didn't listen ;_____; |

| Yeah, there is some huge irony in how things turned out. I still cried though, it's to bad this was more or less spoiled for me at one point. Honestly, I feel more terrible for Luffy than anything. I mean, this has to be the first time I know of where his efforts didn't pay off in anyway and this is arguably the most important moment that happened to him as well and then you add all those pirates and even Marines dying for no real reason... |

| this was the saddest episode of one piece yet. i literally SOBBED throughout the entire episode. i don't think i've ever cried loudly like that over an anime. i don't even know, the whole time i was like, what, no, fuck this. right now i'm thinking about how luffy told iva "if i don't save him, then i probably won't WANT to live." how much physical/psychological damage can you fit in 24 hours. |

This episode was not that sad, probably because I was spoiled way before about this. But I'm happy that I was spoiled, because I was spoiled in a hilarious way. In fact, the way I got spoiled was way better than his actual death. Anyway, the highlights were Garp (Garp has been the real highlight of this whole arc), and Luffy's cry at the end of episode. People who think Luffy's cry wasn't real or desperate enough probably have never cried/heard someone cry out of desperation before. This is exactly how it sounds. Uploaded with ImageShack.us This definitely was NOT the saddest episode of one piece. Both Going Merry and Doctor Hiluluk were way sadder than this. I'll tell you why: Going Merry went through all that with the rest of the crew, and she tried her best to take them as far as she could. What made that specially sad was the fact that at her very last moments she tried to help the crew even though she could barely move. And then she said "thanks". Keeping in mind that she was actually a freaking SHIP, this was a really sad moment. Doctor Hiluluk loved his country, and even though he was dying, all he could think about was his people. What made that moment specially sad was that he went into a trap thinking of helping his people, and when he realized that it was a trap and his people were in fact, not in danger, he became happy. The fact that he wasn't really a doctor at all adds up to the sadness of seeing someone so selfless go. Ace joined some pirates for the lulz and died because he was stupid enough to get provoked by some marine. He didn't die trying to help someone, he didn't die protecting something, he didn't die because he had no other choice, and he didn't die because it was the only thing left to do. He died because he was stupid. Nothing about that is sad. The only thing sad about this was the fact that all that effort was for naught because they were trying to save a retard. But then again, you shouldn't go around trying to save retards, it's just not worth it. |
