What a turn of events seeing the past, present and everything coming together. Reiko also starts finally realizing what her memories are about after all this time.

I also found it really interesting how Reiko and Kudo takes their approaches about their past and future in the season finale. It felt all too familiar like the first few episodes. What a journey this has been really, wish it was longer since it did omit material from them manga. On other hand, this was among my favorite shows this season.

The Second Kowloon that's breaking down due to Generic Terra reacting to Kudo's regrets, and its people disappearing from thin air, the Kowloon people know is quickly fading from everyone's sight. Even towards Kujirai, which her goldfish Success helped her gather her thoughts to chase Kudo down, as much as the warnings have been given from Yulong himself, the inevitable feeling of wanting to know where it all started, is the only objective.

For Kujirai B's ambition for a Kowloon that's her ideal of never changing and staying the same, and Kudo's serious reply of a marriage proposal, even Gwen gets in all of the fun commemorating their oneship together. However, the unintended death of Reiko through the pills, right as Kowloon was to be demolished and left quite the wastepile that Kudo only had regrets for, and Generic Terra was the technology that heeded to his request to turn back time and replicate Reiko as she is, with the lady herself being none the wiser living in a Kowloon that repeats the same Summer all over again. However, her change only necessitated him that whatever he does, he will never change her Generic or her real, absolute self.

It's the same for Kudo and coming to terms with his Generic self that do-overs are just not possible at all, as Reiko traces the steps of the collapsed Kowloon out towards Hong Kong, only to be greeted by both Yaomei and Xiaohei...as well as Success too, seemingly out of his pond. The others escape too unscathed, and now settles life in Hong Kong. Of course, Reiko is doing well, and so does Kudo as well after 2 years of going missing.

An anime-original ending that is quite the "happily ever after" ending, and I'm content for what's shown here.

So in the end, they opted to answer almost nothing in order to reach a "happily ever after" timeskip..... Wow, I didn't think the show could fumble the ending this hard, oh wait, they already did fumble everything before it, why is this even a SUPRISE??? In a season where RANJER REJECT is airing. I didn't think there would be worthy coemption to see what is adapted worser, but here comes this pile of dogshit. Though, tbf anime-only viewers might not notice the problems as much, but even the manga has some of these issues because literally the more the reveal the less interested I became in this show.

I'm all for the immersive backgrounds and the whole mysterious vibe the show’s going for, but it just crammed way too much in too little time to make me care about any of the development. Not letting the context breathe when it should just kills the buildup to big moments or reveals. Plus this adaptation is already rushing through some major turning points way too early.

All in al, just watch After the Rain... any actual GOOD manga by sensei that was also rushed but at least still made somewhat sense and had a good ending.

Now yeah, people have actually started seeing their and others younger selves too. Not that the stuff happening earlier was normal by any means, so anyway lol. They should’ve dived deeper into Kudo's monologues and everything, but nah, why would they even do that, right? You see, leaving all of the stuff that we saw in the finale was a bad idea. If they were taking liberty with the adaptation they should’ve handled the character who’s at the centre of everything properly, AT THE VERY LEAST, instead of showing him goofing around.

I can feel how hard it must have been for Kudo going over and over and over with the same summer, but this second Kowloon just appearing out of nowhere… exactly “out of nowhere”, just as the word sounds, gave me a good laugh and I couldn’t be serious. Seriously, EVERYONE FOUND THEIR ANSWERS and EVERYONE IS HAPPY THEREAFTER… meh. I’m just glad for my girl Reiko.. SHE FUCKING BEACME HER ABSOLUTE SELF!!! Pls dump Kudo tho xD

This could’ve been MUCH better. Much is kept all caps for a reason, I mean what’s the point of adapting something which is still ongoing, till the end that is? Lots of series have done this but I never understood why they do that. They should’ve seriously adapted till chapter 70 or something, as yeah, the kind of story this is, it demands the attention of the viewer. Going all over the places just for the sake of completing the quota they were given didn’t help, or rather something like that never helps.

At this point I don’t even care for the chapters which are yet to be translated. They should’ve stopped this with one season only and would’ve never given us the second season… that would still have worked, but not this mess. Just disappointed because I was actually looking forward to this.

this ending really hit me. Reiko’s death felt like the trigger that made everything fall apart in Kudou’s mind, right? He got stuck in that bizarre eternal summer loop in Kowloon, trying to make sense of it all. I liked that in the end there was some real closure, both for him and for Kujirai, she finally managed to escape and move on with her life. Becoming a travel agent was just too poetic.

The vibe of Kowloon is so unique(kind of nostalgic, kind of dreamy) and the whole mystery was well handled without feeling forced. The characters were all a bit eccentric but really charming. Some episodes in the middle were confusing, but overall it was a great experience. I’d easily give it an 8.5/10. Oh, and yeah… I’m still low-key bothered that we never really found out why Reiko died.

Interesting anime, Kowloon built on the regrets of Kudo, very confusing anime, is reiko actually real, what was the motive behind the other people, how did original reiko die, too many questions

So that was an .. interesting finale. Apparently anime original as well? Didn’t quite see things going this way, but the core theme of this story was always moving on from grief and accepting the past so this was consistent. Everyone got a happy ending, so that’s all I can ask for. One of my fave shows of the season and a really good sci fi mystery! I’m gonna miss Reiko and Yaomay sm 😢

If you think about it, the last 3-4 episodes have done a great job of making the cast confront their issues and finally start to move forward. Whether it was Xiaohei accepting the changes to his body, Yaomay accepting how things went with her mom, Miyuki letting go of his revenge or Kudo finally accepting Reiko B’s death, the entire cast had to move forward. They were shackled by the past. Stuck in this eternal summer.

Using a movie theater as exposition for Kudo’s motivations was really cool. I can’t imagine how devastating it’d be to walk in on your fiancé dead from an overdose like that. It’s the sudden nature of everything that really kills you because one moment you’re planning for the rest of your life, the next they’re gone. It’s that empty feeling that gnaws at you forever knowing you can’t tell them the things you want.. all those unsaid feelings just eat at you forever. Can’t blame Kudo at all for recreating the happy time of his life and constantly reliving it. Doing that prevented him from really accepting what happened and moving forward though and that’s not what Reiko B would’ve wanted.

I also kinda like how they didn’t try to implicate Reiko’s death in some big conspiracy or crazy plot twist. She died from a medication overdose. That’s sadly something that happens a lot in the real world. Hebinuma presumably wanted to keep that covered up just like prescription drug companies irl.

The one thing I’m confused on is how Reiko managed to get an actual physical form after the Kowloon simulation collapsed lol, but whatever we not gonna overthink it. I’m a sucker for timeskip reunions and happy endings! Only thing I would’ve liked to have seen is what Yaomay’s doing and a wedding, but still a very good ending. I’ll miss this.

Decent episode.

To be honest, I was confused until the movie part. And honestly, I don't think I'll ever fully understand what's going on in this anime. It was pretty interesting to watch but some parts just left me with more questions than answers. I was expecting a happy ending to this anime so thats cool. I've got nothing else to say besides that it was fun to watch so yeah, great show.

Reiko walking out of Kowloon was a powerful symbol of her becoming her true self. She freed herself from Kudo’s expectations that she should be and act like Kujirai B, and instead chose to live the life she truly wanted ✨

6:20 who is this old man? 👀 he knows about Kudo

11:30 I has a feeling that’s what he was gonna walk in on 🫢 we finally saw the original Reiko’s death

21:50 Yaomay 🤣🤣🤣

22:50 SUCCESS! 🫢🤣

24:40 KUDO IS STILL ALIVE! 🙌🏻

My 10th Spring 2025 finished! This was a trippy anime man. Obviously I hopped on it late just for Reiko 😂 but the more I watched, the more I got into the deep plot. It is a pretty confusing concept. Yaomay grew on me too especially once I realized she was voiced by Aoi Koga. I would definitely rewatch again 👌🏻 happy ending for Kudo and Reiko 🙌🏻

Finally I'm free. The chapters of the manga were taking too long to release. That I was forgetting things. But now I have closure.

Kudou's endless 8.

Hey, 1 human and a fish. Generic Terra was success, I guess.

In retrospect, Reiko made powerful friend/acquaintances that can set up a new ID for her. She was legally dead.

I didn’t really like the ending overall—and that’s the problem with anime that put all their strength into the final episode! What’s the point of all the hype and mystery if, in the end, the viewers don’t enjoy the conclusion? I think the audience will be split in two: one half will praise it heavily, and the other half will criticize it just as strongly.

I believe most people will forget the anime and only focus on episode 13—and honestly, that makes sense, doesn’t it?

Anyway, here’s my review of the show! 👇

Make sure to drop some emojis to keep me motivated to keep writing more!

So, did Kujirai B kill herself just because she was afraid to leave Kowloon and start something new???
All in all i liked the ending and the episode, the theme of facing yourself and become absolute, but i didn't like that "reason". Though as an anime only, i didn't know the manga is not finished, so could be the true reason will be explored down the line, and anime folks just wanted to end it in one season rather than wait indefinitely.
I would prefer if there were some kind of hints from her side, or an episode dedicated to her, as to why she is so deathly afraid, cause the way it is now, it seems wholly unsatisfying and unfinished. :/

Everything else i really liked tho, so overall 8/10, a sleeper hit this season since i didn't see many people talk about this series, but yeah, im interested if the manga will introduce a more concrete reason of her death.

And so we end with the collapse of the fake Kowloon, Kudo's memories and a new beginning.

Well, I guess I'm not one to complain about what ultimately was a happy ending, I think, but I definitely didn't understand everything regarding how the new Reiko was able to leave the city and start a new life. I liked that she did mind you, I just didn't understand how. Magic fish powers ftw, I guess? Anywho, this series was a solid 7/10 level good. The whole backstory behind everything that happened was definitely unraveled in such a way as to make it seem more mysterious than it really was. A less circuitous set of reveals probably would have been both simpler and shorter, but I guess the story was fine the way it was told, even if I ultimately didn't quite understand everything. Also just as a note I went in to this blind. Had I read the source manga maybe I'd have liked this more or less, I dunno.

This anime is in my top 5 of the season.
I like the series portrays regret: the way it is created, the way it changes you and the only way to be relieved of it, confronting yourself.
Your friends do play important roles in guiding you, but ultimately you cannot keep living in an imaginary world, you have to look at yourself and do it.
Ask yourself: "Why do I feel this way? What led me to this?". And only then can you make the painful decision to change your life for the better.

I loved most aspects of this anime including the message, the character, the art style that is designed to make feel nostalgic and, of course, the mystery.
I would like a possibility for a second season instead of an AOE as much as the next person, but I am satisfied with what I got out of this series.

I didn't understand. I kinda knew Reiko was going to leave the city unscathed, but Kudo had to take two more years? What happened to Miyuki, Yulong, and Gwen after all? Gene Terra disappeared...

In any case, it was a great, mysterious series that kept me thinking a lot, trying to get what was going on (probably without success).

What I'm certain of is that I will watch the live-action version, just to give it another try.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

I wish we could see Yamoei confront her mother. Maybe the manga will show us? Talking about the manga I am curious how different will be. But I really liked how the anime ended even if Reko-pon surviving (and the fish lol) be a little Deus-ex machina.

My most anticipated season finale this season... and the one I was the most worried about.

"Are you leaving it to fate whether the ribbon gets untied or not?"
"Yes, but... I don't really know which one is a win anymore."

Somewhat simple and predictable ending, but still mostly satisfying. Beautiful art and music, really carried the long stretches of silence.

This could've been the year's best, but I'm left a little disappointed. Still a very good watch, top 5 of the season for sure.

In hindsight, this might have benefited from being a bit longer. Not slower, but longer. With deeper exploration of the characters and their relationships.

A romance where one person holds all the memories and the other person is not quite the same person is a fascinating concept that I don't mind taking a closer look into. Given how well-designed and charming they were, I would've liked to see more of the side characters, too.

Anyway, since the manga isn't finished yet, but is close to it (as far as I know), I wonder if it will contain any new material. @perseii This is the second time since GQ that I've been so worried about the fate of the characters that I expected some kind of catch until the last minute.

I'll give it props for trying a different ending, but wow did it feel like more characters needed to be flushed out. Compacting the finale all in the last episode was a gamble, which imo didn't pay off.

Throughout the show the buildup and twists were amazing, so I'm not sure why they didn't want to finish each character. With the themes of the show, especially with Kujirai B ending her own life (I assume), the "happy" ending felt out of place. But maybe I'm missing a key point, hopefully they improve the ending in the manga.

While the landing wasn't great the twists made the anime enjoyable to watch. Also, I'd give it credit by making everyone super attractive (Kujirai 😳💍), which did help attract its initial popularity.

Now Kudo fully accepted Kujirai's death and it seems like Kujirai B actually became a real person on her own and could leave Kowloon too, Kudou accepted Kujirai's A death and accepted Kujirai B as a different person on her own. I would have liked more explanations about Generic Terra but I guess that's the explanation regarding how she could escape Kowloon after Kudou mentally destroyed it. A bit sad that the two last episodes were anime original material and ending but I appreciate the happy ending after all what experienced. Awesome anime overall for the psychological aspect and the original of the initial setup and its characters. If only it was 2 cours and not a single one, I will give it a 8/10 but it could have easily be a 9/10, that's why it's far from being perfect.

Hmm......This was an interesting watch. A solid beginning and a good end. In fact I really like the ending but it lacked something. They tried as much to explain the world but still left me confused.
Romance - Barely exist. It kinda makes sense because of the main theme is about regret which was also poorly explored until the latter part.
Mystery - bits will be dropped in a cliffhanger and not explored in the next episode UNTIL the latter part of the show.
It also makes sense cos the mystery isn't strong enough to hold the whole show.
Supporting characters - spent way more time on them. Some, completely unnecessary. Miyuki looked like an important character in the beginning but ended up being wasted.
Character development - I guess Reiko and Yaomay. Kudo faded into the background. He kinda disappeared from the series in the latter episodes UNTIL the last episode.
I enjoyed this but can't deny the masterpiece it couldn't been. 7/10

I did in fact correctly predicted some things during the course of this show and I'm proud of it. That is because everything was properly foreshadowed. (This is such a rarity in the year 2025 its unbelievabale)! It feels very rewarding when paying attention pays of. Anyway, eventhough we've got closure to all characters we got new questions. What is success and where did Generic Terra dissappear? That white haired Generic Terra dev got baffled lmao. This was a good anime, and I have a weakness to time loop shenanigans.

So I thought the ending was a little abrupt but it had a nice wrap up. I had heard the anime got a original ending since the manga is ongoing. Which honestly I think is just annoying, I'd unironically just rather have them just follow the manga even if the season would end kinda weirdly. But idk whatever.

Idk the original Reiko was just weird I don't really understand her which I guess is ironic since Kudo never either. I think it wrapped up nicely and brought back the fun Kudo I remembered from the first few episodes.

Overall this show was pretty off and on for me I came out of it with a generally mixed feeling. Like its definitely not bad but It never particularly wowed me. I think Reiko and Yaomei's dynamic was the highlight of the anime. Gwen and Miyuki also had a really good dynamic which I loved to see.

I started to dislike Kudo after he became all enigmatic but im glad how his character turned out in the end. If im being honest the only reason I watched this in the first place is because I thought Reiko was hot. I was indeed not disappointed but putting that aside generally it was a good show.

low 7/10

Or the best Seinen Adaptation in this season
I guess I can give it a 7/10
Really wish the current Vols get translated so I can see what the Author had in store
Same situation as Love After the Rain

I still have questions of course, but overall, a great ending that fits with the main idea of the piece and yes, I'm glad Reiko was able to get a happy ending in the end and the others were able to get rid of their regrets and accept themselves, though an OVA would be great.

So i only need to know if anime had originalk ending or not. If the manga has the same story I see no reason to read it if were reaching this convulated conclusion and unearned happy ending
@BigPaws the Manga is way more Fleshed and Answers a lot more that the Anime had to rush through and not finished yet
The Anime does have an Original ending and cut and skipped over plenty of chapters

Pretty sure from the reaction of the Manga readers that this was an Anime' OG Ending. But if they stuck with the Manga, we would just be left with a lot of questions that might never be answered. Solid ending. Though I might go read the Manga now.
@Sheol01 that would've been fine with me
Would rather the Anime took its time and not rush through the material and make it easy to jump to the manga

Rushed as hell. Really disappointed.
