It turns out, this show does have its festivals after all.

Episode had its fun moments and Meg was able to bond more with her new friends. It does feel like the overall plot is a bit loose at the moment though. Sophie seems to also get along well with her.

Meg’s back at her perverted antics with Sophie, but it was funny when Sophie showed the selfie of her and Fine drinking from the same glass—the lesbian act never ends with this show. Meg’s reaction about losing both of them, and Sophie’s instant rejection of her, was absolutely hilarious.

This episode had a lot of character development for Sophie, especially with how she started showing more expressions and told Meg to live as her friend—even if she called her a subordinate, servant, slave, or dog.

Meg, as always, helped others, and this time Marie reunited with the man she met last year during the festival and fell for him. Meg brought them together and even arranged a fireworks show for them. Sophie showed real growth too, helping arrange a contract between Marie and Woof so they can live happily together.

Megu helping a couple find happiness with each other was nice.
And Sophie showed a lot more emotion as well i guess this will be a good friendship.
I also liked the picture of Sophie and Fine together Megu's reaction was priceless.

Sophie became so attached to Meg, it was absolutely adorable to see.
These two also make such a fantastic comedic duo haha.
I loved the fireworks, what a gorgeous scene.

My favorite episode so far without a doubt :)

Weeks this show has gone without making me cry: 0. Beautiful. Just a beautiful ending to the other world festival arc. Meg and Sophie have grown so much in just a couple episodes and there can be no question as to the nature of magic anymore. It exists to make people happy!

Meg playing matchmaker with Marie and the wolf man was so sweet, but also important for her to learn how the heart works and the power of love. The scene of she and Sophie hugging in the garden was my fave of the season, until that ending scene with Sophie finally smiling. Even with all the bad stuff magic has been used to do, Meg remains optimistic that it’s inherently good. People have just misused it. She’d have every right to want it gone just like Sophie, yet when you see how it can bring two lovers from totally different worlds together and make them happy, how could you wanna get rid of that?

The fireworks scene was sooo beautiful and another reminder of how great magic is. Yea, it was used to curse Sophie and Meg, but that doesn’t mean it’s inherently bad. All down to the individual using it.

“Promise me you’ll be happy” I am so beyond happy that Marie and Wolf-man are getting married. Sophie wanting to be the one to marry them was so cute and shows how far she’s come. Meg may not be as talented as she is, but she taught her a lot in these few eps.

I’m gonna miss Sophie in this show sm 😭 don’t wanna see my lesbian witches splitting up damn it. At least we got Fine, but still.. I’ll follow you to hell if I have to. I won’t let you die.” AHHHH WE GOT OUR FIRST SOPHIE SMILE!!! Perfect ending.

There is no doubt Meg is a reincarnated old man: She can be a creep, she's close to dying, and she will stop at nothing when it comes to ladies.

But revenge will be sweet. Promise.

Though, as usual, the waterworks will be fully on in this episode too. The "awww" kind.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

I love that with each episode we are getting subtle lore drops about the world around us and how magic works around it, how people live and in this episode we got a little info in that other beast creatures exist which come from the other world and can visit into the main world briefly.

I'll admit the whole relationship between those two did feel kind of forced but idk maybe its just the whole love at first sight troupe. Or maybe its just the Meg affect, she seems to brighten up everyone's lives. Which I suppose is kinda the whole point

I'm really liking this anime.
All those chibi deformed forms from time to time are cute and funny.
I mean, it's a fantasy comedy anime. No one is looking for realistic body proportion here.

I was really hoping they'd end the episode with the festival and start next episode with Meg being astounded to realize that she earned a few hundred tears of joy from the fireworks, but I'm okay with the marriage and friendship ending as well

@undeed maybe a tad small, but not really noteworthy. Women's hands tend to be smaller than men's, and they're about the same size as their faces, and my hand is about the same size as my face

She better be getting back to work, or that friendship will be for nothing. I noticed that Woof had claws & furry hands in the flashback. He had to be a demihuman. I didn't think she would care & she didn't.

Two teardrops for an entire festival is a terrible return on investment.

Seeing all those shot focusing on the clocktower gave me flashbacks to Wandering Witch Elaina, thankfully this episode didn't end like that one did.

Well, at least Meg got another 2 tears with a bunch to go and Sophie threatened to kill her if she died before she allows it, lol how does that make any sense? At least with Sophie being her new friend she'll help Meg out however she can. Also, did Sophie essentially propose to Meg with her wanting to form a contract with her? Alrighty then.

What a sweet episode. The bonds of friendship are so precious here. The phrase "a promise to a friend gave me another reason to live" kinda helps put this together. So many times I see folks discredit the power of friendship as if friends can't truly love each other-- as if the love between friends is somehow not as strong as romantic love. I really disagree. Is it really so weak that such a bond can inspire one to keep going? And that's not just some anime feelings either, it's the type of thought I have all the time when it comes to my friends. I appreciate them so damn much, I feel it would be like I don't appreciate them if I were to just not keep going. It's hard to explain, but this is pretty much it. What do people mean that friendship isn't enough love? They must not be forming proper bonds or creating actual meaningful friendships if they don't truly understand.
Anyway, a lovely little episode. I've been enjoying this anime.

I really hope they reveal at least a little of the mystery behind all this.

Faust’s behavior is confusing—on one hand, she acts like "Look, she can do five times more than you," and on the other, she claims "It's my job to look after you." It doesn’t add up with the idea of someone who stayed silent about her apprentice’s curse for nearly ten years. If you take a child under your wing and truly care for them, wouldn’t you do everything to prevent their death? Faust did seem to care in this episode, so what’s with the theatrics and the "You wouldn’t have done anything to save yourself anyway" reasoning?

That aside, I loved Sophie’s smile! I’m glad she no longer wants to get rid of her magic. Magic feels like atomic energy in this world—it could be used for good, or it could wipe out entire cities.

Here I am, as usual, thinking this show isn't that great.

And yet I'm here, every time.

I already thought of dropping it 4 times: every episode after the first. 4 times I've been back.

There's... something, deep down, that makes me come back, even though I don't like the writing at all.

Oh well. :)

Meg's mistake with the Gate summoning, continues the momentum of the Otherworld Festival for her to help out in the magic parade. And more than Meg still having her hilarious middle-aged man's mentality, the passerby woman of Marie awaiting her saviour to come back to the festival and have their moments together, Meg wanting to help the latter find her aforementioned man, it turned out to be the demihuman wolfman of Woof Shin whose appearance will shock just about everyone, and yet, with fireworks or not, Meg's insistence for him to spend time with Marie, it's his call to decide if he wants to or not.

Meg leaving Fine to tend to Sophie out of coincidence, the latter two sure has similar mind over matter, while Meg rushes to find Marie and seek closure on her end. Sophie finally addressing to Meg about the Tears of Joy and the deathly curse within a year, the same magic would've helped her survive, though Sophie thinks otherwise that the same magic would come to harm her. In the midst of which, a friendship is bonded between Meg and Sophie, just as the Otherworld Festival draws to a close with the magic parade and the fireworks as promised.

Meg being all broken and out of magic, sees both Marie and Woof solidifying their contract of love (thereby earning the Tears of Joy), and Sophie having a better outlook at life being a dear friend to Meg.

If anything, it's the journey that makes the destination worth it.

I think she has to have a bond with them for it to work. Random strangers would be too easy. To add, the townspeople thought Sophie was the one doing the overall fireworks, so their happiness and gratitude were directed at her.

I really like this show. It also just hit me that Meg is essentially Elena mixed with that other girl who is constantly hitting on Elana.

But I am getting worried she might not make it. A thousand tears is a lot and she doesnt make good progress..
