THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Wow...I think Doronjo and her crew are facing their toughest challenge yet this episode.

The general is not messing around with his plans and unfortunately, the gang gets caught in their iron fist. One interesting thing they discovered is perhaps the Yattermen's ultimate boss. And tbh, it doesn't look pretty D:

Yeah, plot twist. Just like the old Yatterman series.

This show always give me the impression of overstressed animators making a nostalgia feast for balding, tired middle-age Japanese salaryman who works long-hour unwillingly under the fear of failing to be a productive member of society. It isn't about the logic, the underline messages, or the quality of the story, it's just about putting something on the screen that can provoke their childhood memories and the feeling of being a kid again. The gang fighting against Yatterman who is clearly a villain from the start could be an intentional design choice partially made under the manifest of repressed urge to rebel against the authority and social pressure which is often considered to be de-humanizing. To be sentential is the goal, the gloomy atmosphere and the bitter-sweet feeling came after the gang saved others or helped other's dream comes true, it is their purpose. And the loli ... no.

IDK, I must be overthinking myself. I'll read one of the interview if I got the time. I just can't get a hold on the creator's mind just by watching the anime. I always do that when the show is underwhelming to me.

Well, that goes to show it, the current Yatterman cant be compared to the old one without knowing the facts.

Getting hunted down by the 11 generals, then getting their last words... and finally meeting Yatterman himself.

Dokurobey-sama, definitely more interesting than seeing a Yatterman looking Yatterman lol.

Oh goodness, i wasn't prepared for the first 3 minutes. That was sad and nearly made me cry (that OST always gets me).

Other than that, it could be that Goro will help them out in the future.

Here's me thinking that the Yatterman City was going to be a utopia of some sorts, when really the city is just as bad as everywhere else....Man things are just really fucked up in this series =/

The 12 generals were pretty cool and I like the fact that Doronjo and her gang lost because there was no way for them to come out on top and if they did that would have been complete BS

Either way, this episode flowed very well and seeing them reflect on their journey here as well as to state their resolves before they almost got executed was great to see, we got a few laughs too which I felt to fit very well given the situation, those just reflects the characters personalities and I was fine with it

But dat twist tho..... I dunno how the dude is at the end because I haven't seen the original series but damn O_O

If you ignored the last few episodes and all that, this one isn't that terrible. Unfortunately, this is the same show where the protagonists can survive massive explosions and summon mecha out of nowhere, so I can't take this dystopian city seriously. Not to mention, the bad jokes they kept throwing in this episode alone kept taking me out of the show.

Also, the plot twist does nothing for me. So it turns out the guy leading the Yatterman was the guy the Doronjo trio worshipped. So? If the story of this show is about challenging Doronjo's beliefs, this is a very poor way to do it. It wasn't even new and interesting when Big Hero 6 and Cars 2 did that plot twist. Why would it be interesting here?

Just as expected by many, Dokurobee proved to be the actual main villain. Let's see where it goes from here.

Luckily it doesn't focus too much on humor this week, though the humor it did have was still fairly weak...

Oh look an E.T reference because...... it existed?

The fight this time around with the many robots was rather lackluster... parts of it were alright but the only part that I really found entertaining was when Tonzra got speared by the several robots, it was just funny I guess. The music was surprisingly good this week though which made it less boring.

There's no tension in this show due to the lack of plausibility and the fact that none of them are taking the whole, "We are about to die" thing seriously made the scene where they were tied up boring.

Finally.. the twist... IT TURNS OUT THE ONE DOING THESE EVIL ACTS ALL ALONG WAS... THE EVIL GUY FROM THE ORIGINAL SERIES.......... what a... twist? It had no foreshadowing so... not really a twist so much as an asspull. All it does is make the series go from a role-reversal hero story to a... regular... hero story... so it lost any of the depth it had in the beginning.

See, this is the problem, we only have 2 episodes left and they just introduced 12 new villain characters. The 11 generals and Dokurobey. There is no way they are going to be able to flesh them out properly, have a final battle AND wrap up the series without it feeling rushed so... yeah... not looking good now...

Also... if the main villain was just going to stop the assassination/capture and bring them to him so he can... throw a party... why did he have his robots try and kill them? This really makes little sense... not that the rest of the show made much sense to begin with but still...

So the show couldn't even follow through with it's initial gimmick either eh? I was really wondering how the good ideals of Yatterman were warped into such comical evil, but it seems that the answer to that question is that it never really happened, which makes the conflict feel even more simplistic and generic. Too much recapping, too much bludgeoning us with the fact that "this is a dystopia! look at how BAD Yatterman is!".

Also just two episodes? This sense of impending doom....

If Doronjo had actually been doing evil things whilst under the impression that the Yatterman were the bad guys, this twist might have worked. Because who wants to bet the next episode will consist of her breaking down once she realizes that what she believed in was a lie...which wouldn't make sense because it didn't take long for her to recover when the last thing she believed in was a lie and it's not like this reveal means anything other than a name change.

So yeah, this show went the Disney route, and it didn't even execute it as well as Disney does.

In summary, he is:

Basically, he is a very important character from the original series. The fact that he did not appear but was only mentioned in Yatterman Night (save the very first scene of the Anime) always hinted that he was the big bad.

Now this is what the show has been missing! The first episode was phenomenal, but everything else had just been so-so. I'm glad that it seems like the plot is actually going somewhere. Didn't expect that reveal, but it is very interesting, and brings up a lot of questions about what happened to Yatterman.

Well, uhh, I certainly wasn't expecting that. This could be good or bad depending on where it goes from here. Because at the moment, what drew us all to the series at first seems to be a lie. The bad guys were bad all along. And Yatterman truly were the good guys.

I wasn't surprised I figure out that the mastermind wont be Yatterman especially when we heard Dokurobey voice in first episode when he destroyed all cities.

Episode that comes with the usual dress, were it not for the unexpected twist at the end that displaces a little me.
Overall the story is not as comical as usual, drawings average as quality; curious to see how to explain this inconsistency.

Not sure if it's a twist as it was inevitable. Kinda makes sense for Dokurobey to be behind everything. Who else would be? They would have to bring out a final boss villain anyway, so Dokurobey is more fitting that some random OC do not steal one.

-this little flashback and narration at the beginning made me realize that the show didn't exactly deliver on what made me interested in it in the first place
-alrighty i never asked for that recap to be so long
-representation of the inside of yatter kingdom was actually pretty nice
-well, maybe not for the people living there
-didn't realize until nana that the 12 generals were literally all named after numbers lmfao
-is this gonna be a boss rush
-ball in a cup is the strongest weapon
-wait why the fuck aren't the 11 generals directly attacking them with their dog machines
-never mind looks like the footmen were enough
-this last words segment is also pretty good, especially voltkatze's and elephantus's last words
-alright the scene in front of the door was also pretty characteristic of the fun parts of the early episodes
-BRUH
-B R U H
-B R U H

Alright this episode singlehandedly rekindled my interest in the show, which makes me wonder WHERE THE FUCK this stuff was in the past few episodes. Like, one of the main reasons I was interested in the show in the first place was because of how the "good guys" were actually the bad guys, and vice versa. That twist at the end of the episode basically made it so that both the good guys and the bad guys were the "bad guys" and I fuckin loved it. And, after 9 episodes of teasing, the inside of the esteemed Yatter Metropolis is actually experienced by the five stooges, and it's just as the rumors foretold. Also, for the first time in a while the comedic elements of the episode were pretty funny. Probably the only thing I didn't like about the episode was that overly long recap at the beginning.
