Do you actually know and understand yourself?

Self-explanatory.

I sometimes feel I don't understand myself but at the same time I'm the one who understand me the most. It's just complicated.

Do you understand yourself? Or are you somewhat in the same position as me?

- NOT your usual shounen anime
- Pure comedy? DEAD WRONG
- Treat Gintama as SoL/weekly sitcom especially earlier seasons
- Ep 1 & 2 are for manga readers

I understand myself to a very intense degree.

I know all my flaws and generally why I am the way I am. And I hate every second of it. Ignorance is bliss for sure.

I mean, I'm sure that anyone can just say that they know themselves when presented with the question. But actions are often louder than words, and imagining what a person would do in a hypothetical situations isn't the same as actually experiencing the situation, so I feel as though a person can only really know themselves when presented with various occurrences.

I used to not understand myself at all until just a while ago. But therapy shone a little light on why I am the way I am and act the way I do.

The amount of people here saying they understand themselves clearly don't realize that if they're that positive they understand themselves they most likely do not understand themselves at all.

If you truly understand yourself through deep introspection you should be well aware that there's always a chance for something to change within you and thus you would never say you understand yourself completely.

Our unconscious is there for a reason and while many pan through it's shallow waters to get a slight glimpse of what may lurk beneath if you do not jump headlong down into it's depths either by choice or circumstance one will never truly understand themselves and that's a good thing.

We are molded by environment and situation and our current selves can be molded almost entirely if we went down a different path, understanding that mutability is the first step to understanding your current self.

I know myself better than anyone in some ways. In other ways I'm still in the dark about myself and learning about myself. Especially when it comes to the part of of MBTI and cognitive functions that they call extroverted feeling. I am weakest here.

Yes, I understand myself perfectly well. For example, I hate Gintama and people who find Gintama funny.

60% of the time yeah

40% of the time now

It would appear that some times i ignore what i myself want and do random bullshit, though the bullshit can work sometimes. Still doesnt change the fact that i dont think that i understand myself that much. I am truly in a dilemma of what i want and what i desire to be. It may sound like a cat poster but its not.

Whilst I do know how I react in most circumstances I am aware that often our true natures are revealed in unique or pressing circumstances. People often learn another side of themselves when falling in love for the first time for example. Having a baby, suffering a life or death situation, a significant loss or taking part in a war are things that could bring out hidden character traits. These big moments will highlight some fundamental character trait that you have that is not immediately obvious in normal scenarios.

Those scenarios are big unknowns and is something I will never truly know unless I experience those situations. On the whole though my general traits is that I am stoic, thoughtful and not the biggest speaker generally opting to listen than to make long speeches. My humour is dry and I am a night owl. Hoot hoot!

I'm very self aware with myself. Sometimes I surprise myself when I experience something new and go, "wow didn't expect I'd react that way!."

Sometimes I'm confident on myself other times I feel like I'm having some imposter syndrome. It's very mood based. To be honest, I don't know if anyone knows themselves 100%.

I'm a pretty self-aware kind of fella, yes.

Like, I know what I like, what makes me happy, what I want out of life, what to prioritize, my strengths, my flaws/weaknesses, I do my best to make sure my actions align with my values and what I believe in and overall, I love myself and see myself as a person of value

Yes and No, but I prefer not to be as transparent as I once was. So I dupe myself thinking I don't know why shit is happening or why I'm doing shit and at times, it dupes people too

I can predict my own behavioral patterns better now that I'm not a teen anymore but tbh as life goes on (being in more situations) I still surprise myself a lot.

When I look in the mirror I recognize myself less and less these days though, strange feeling

Yes I feel like more so than like 99+% people I'm extremely self aware and understanding of my flaws, strengths, world views, interests, etc and the "Why"s behind these things. I just wish I had a bit more willpower to hammer out and mold the aspects I dislike a lot faster than the current rate of self-improvement I'm on.
