I always assumed inner speeches/monologues were a natural thing for everyone to do, but recently i've heard that it's actually not. Do you speak to yourself in your mind? How frequently?

Of course, I am a very introspective individual, that sort of thing is constant.

I sing songs to myself that I make up on the spot while I wait for the kettle to boil so I can have a cup of coffee in the morning.
I think I might actually be mentally ill.

In and out!

Admittedly, I don't talk to other people as much as I should. I'm fairly kept to myself, most of the time. So, talking to myself when I'm alone is something that comes naturally. But, I'm no different than anyone else.

My inner dialogue usually consists of having arguments with conflicting thoughts, or coming up with philosophies that would apply to myself or others.

what, it's not that common?
i was at the point where i ponder why i can't change the volume of my inner voice.

when making decisions, dealing with anxious thoughts or when arguing, those internal monologues seemed to go on forever in my head.

This!

Especially since I started living alone, I talk to myself in my head all the time. It's the way I solve most university related work, and how I solve most of my stuff.
Nothing like being able to hear yourself without speaking.

All the time. I also speak to others in my own head. Others that might exist or not like sometimes I find myself talking to a non existing audience.
You probably have a wide imagination.

To be honest it's the safest way to talk to myself and have introspective conversations with myself without having people looking at me like I'm crazy.

I do, but I don't know that it's typical. I'm a highly anxious/neurotic person, but I know not everyone overthinks things, or gets lost in reveries and obsessive thought-loops, as often as I do.

I love talking to myself because I know me better than anyone and I think my answers will be the most accurate ones to my problems.

To be honest, I don't know if any person in this world (any normal person) would say 'jesus no, I'm not crazy, I don't talk to myself'. I think yourself is the one who will help you the most.

I speak to myself a lot, and it's usually very humorous. I'm aware I'm just talking to myself, so nothing strange attached to it.

What do you mean by inner speeches? Like if I'm working, then a rude customer comes up to me, then I think to myself "wow this person is so rude can you leave" does that count? If so, then yeah I guess I do that pretty often, I mean it's only natural, I feel like.

Tbh I do it almost 24/7 when I am not sleeping or I am not highly focused on some thigns I do like solving problems in math , drawing etc.
Because of Aphantasie talking to myself in mind is my only way to "imagine" so alot of times when I am bored I am "imaging" by telling to myself stories which I create.
Also because of that I am speaking to myself in mind , sometimes I can't stop talking to myself when I want to , for par example when I want to fall asleep and I am trying to stop talking to myself I can't do it :/
