Wow. That was one hell of a performance coming from Shahra.
I think performing for the audience just comes naturally for her.

The real Ayse Armut also looks quite elegant this episode with her wedding outfit despite her usual stoic expression. Kinda nice to see more of her past too. (I think she showed the more human expressions this episode so far compared to any others)

Also kinda liked the assassination themes this episode.

Very nice episode indeed, a little better then the last one since its not as fast.

As expected the other Sultans didn't fall for the bait and actually brought their armies to the wedding, so shit got real in there and the man had to kill his dad to calm the situation down. Next comes the protection of the city and confrontation with the Sultans.

Also very weird of MAL to put this as 12 episodes. I don't know what is true anymore, will this go on after episode 12 or take a break until 2nd cour or end for good? Someone help me.

There isn't going to be a break, MBS (main TV station) mentioned nothing about a break, so it's carrying on as normal, also the 2nd cour starts at episode 14, as per the announcement of the artists and song titles on the official website

Balaban and Beyazit used to get along, but not anymore. It was smart of Mahmut to come up with that play. Turning political matters into a play to expose it to the public so people can approve the next sultan. Shahra performance was good. Ayse looks pretty in her dress. The assassination didn't go as planned. The sultans decided to bring their armies. Orhan had to kill his father to become the next Sultan of Kuluch.

Man this episode basically depicted how kinslaying was allowed by Mehmed II in Ottoman Empire for the survival of the state.
iirc he allowed it due to interregnum almost collapsed the whole country.

I just noticed that the OP gives me vibes from Magi, is it the same artist of one of Magi's OPs? Also, has this show always looked this good? It looks so smooth (must be because MAPPA goes all out on their last episodes, like they did with Virgin Soul). Only 1 more ep. I wonder how it'll go. Sad the father had to die.

Once again Mahmud Bey was hung out to dry by the counicil who were depending on revelation of the assassinations in order to kill the antiwar pasha and seize the other sultanates while the sultans were away

Shit got real this episode, with Orhan going as far as killing his own father to protect Aishe (no idea if I spelled that correctly lol). Can't say I blame him though, what his dad wanted to do with her was pretty fucked up. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Mahmut and everyone else plan to take on the armies of the other sultans.

I find it interesting how MAL has this listed with 12 episodes even though I've constantly heard that this was confirmed to be 2 cour. Hell, the main page even has a new ED listed, that will begin with episode 14.

Yep, it's SID. They did the first OP for both seasons of Magi.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Zaganos planned from the start to take over the other nations. Smart of him though he doesn't hesitate to discard Mahmut in the process.

Orhan became the next sultan after killing his father. Even though the father betrayed him, he gave words of encouragement to his son.

The Prenses blushing was very pleasing to see, kinda cute too.

Well anyways, I was really surprised when the Prens guy decided to stab and ultimately kill his father. I did not think he had the courage to do so.

Also, even though he was tearing up considerably he delivered a pretty sound speech to the Captain of the Royal Guards. This guy is pretty cool, I like his lines too haha.

I wonder how Matmut will handle this battle.

A really underrated show imo..

A good and intense episode with a lot of emotion on this one. Orhan has to kill his Father to protect his wife who doesn't love him at all.

Quite the turn of events and plot by all involved parties.

I certainly did not expect Orhan to kill his own father to protect the princess, I suppose in a way what he did is worthy of respect.

Wonder how things are gonna turn out, Is this only 1-cour? I thought it was 2.

Man, this anime doesn't take any time to rest. Even more things happening! The art quality got a bit of a downgrade though. I guess maintaining Aishe's hair takes a lot out of the budget...

Young Aishe so cute! But having to be a political figure is what led to her being more serious. At the very least, she still does show a humane side even if only to her uncle.

I really liked how this episode showed many different interactions with different characters.

Abiriga and Aishe got to talk for a bit.
The common mindset that Aishe and Mahmut had, and Beyazit being jealous of that.
Balaban and Beyazit in the past and the cause of their disagreement.
Yay! We get to see Shahra again! And Kiros caught on to Mahmut's "other side" hehe.
Beyazit and Aishe's final talk that when she gets married, their relationship will have to be completely political.

Orhan was the highlight of this episode though. He's just a guy who's a little out of the political conflicts. But he killed his own father for trying to kill Aishe, and now he stands up to take responsibility for it. Good man. Just don't crumble under pressure when Zaganos starts tearing down your city walls, ok? You're a sultan now!

Looks like we're getting some action next episode. Alright chess master Mahmut, show me what you got!

Nice episode.

It's times like these I question MAL community's tastes. Rating this so poorly while rating crap like Classroom of the Elite so highly.

I think, based on how Selim was portrayed in previous episodes, that he was actually hoping Orhan would kill him and, in the process, learn to "be a man" and assert his own will. Sort of a cruel coming of age ceremony, I guess you could say.

This was the best episode so far. I did not understand all the political stuff in the beginning. Only roughly. I know Balaban and the others are attacking but I don't know if they just attack to take advantage of the invitation (making it look like they are just visiting) or if they knew about the plot to kill them.

But the emotional stuff was good. Between Orhan and his father. 1st time in the anime where it was intense and I felt with him. Him speaking to the guard captain was nice. I bet his father would be proud - now he doesn't seem like a weakling (before that he felt rather weak) and can make his own desicions and support them (even if they are different from what the father would have done).

So far it was 6 at the beginning ... until Phoinike. Then it was 7 ... But this episode felt like 8/10 but I'm still staying with 7. Maybe scoring higher if more episodes are as good as this one - without weaker ones in between.

My god this was so amazing. Thought Aisha was the one stabbed at first. Orhan was virtually a nobody before now and now his character development sky-rocketed in the space of a single episode. I need more, right now.

Man, after this episode I'd have to say that this anime was a surprise hit for me. The stakes are high, intrigues and betrayal run wild, and, just like it proved with the fall of Phoenike, it isn't afraid to kill some important people. Let's just hope it keeps this up for the next 13 episodes.

Uncle looks cool here, bit of Spike Spiegel vibe. Ayse so moe, looks great at any age.
The political betrayals, Zaganos trolling everyone with a 3 way empty fort invasion plan, sending the Sultan supporters out to die while spying on them, and Orhan's development to grow some guts were great stuff.

Killing his father...what a character development Orhan has..! Wonder if he will grow to be a worthy sultan as the story progresses

Felt like Beyazit and Balaban could have been a great duo, sad how somewhere along the way they went their separate paths

Wonder if the 3 Sultans foresee the situation and left their generals at their own capital?
