THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Tbh, I have faith in Shibuki even though he seems like a slacker in class. The diving training still remains pretty rough which I'm not really surprised by now. We also a view of the characters' personal lives at home in particular Shibuki. For most parts, I think it was a buildup episode. Hoping the pacing will pick up more. That hot pot made me hungry |

It seems like the main guy has ability to predict the turn? First goal is a selection to get into representative. She wants him to turn 3.5 times. So Sakurai-san's character was not so perfect after all because he had accident when he was elementary school. He had been used for the sake of the club, so he hated to hear "for the sake of MDC". lol @ Wild new guy's companion (not sure if his father or uncle or someone else) giving him nabe, which is not nabe's season. Only main guy is enjoying the training. After some training, the girlfriend invited for the picnic. She's approved of current him who wants to excel in his level in diving and more motivated. What the... there's a guy who searches for Sakurai-san's character?! 25:05 next. |

Tomoki is determined as he is giving it all during his training. Seems like his friends, Ryou and Reiji, are probably jealous. The picnic scene with Miu and Tomoki was nice. |

That was my favourite episode so far. Yoichi hit his head on the platform, fucking hell. I saw something like this on TV and it is so scary, you could die there. Man, he just flew into the water unconscious and bleeding from his head. Also i might have misjudged our MC. He and his girlfriend finally spoke about him diving and she admires him for his compassion. Did he act this way towards her because he was too anxious about himself and diving to tell her? Could be, i liked how they resolved this. |

While I think the coach give a perfect response on 'do it for your own', when Youichi think back it made perfect sense already on why he ask that question. And on picnic scene, Miu really really want Tomoki to kiss her that it disgusts me. Her expression is not avoid her intention at all |

Nice episode. That Yoichi injury must have been traumatizing. x.x It's nice to see Tomoki showing a lot of passion and drive to become better at diving. Glad to see the coach support him as always. Unfortunately, his sudden growth in terms of passion and drive is alienating him from the other two dudes who he used to hang out with. The conversation between Miyu and Tomoki at their little picnic was definitely the best part of the episode. It's nice that Miyu admires him but I still kinda feel that Miyu is too good for her own good. XD |

Poor Miu wanted Tomoki to notice her new haircut but he didn't. I think she just likes him too much that she won't complain. I do think he likes her but maybe not enough? It's obvious she wanted him to kiss her but he didn't get it. I hope things don't go sour between Tomoki, Reiji and Ryou. I like their friendship but maybe they feel that Tomoki is getting far ahead of them and that he's getting the favorite treatment from the coach. It looks like Shibuki noticed the tension. Hope he can give a hand somehow. |

At least the girlfriend is supportive and doesn't try to rush him much. Maybe eventually he'll come to appreciate her properly. |

Am i the only person who notices how when they jump back from water there's literally no water on them? no water drops, they are not soaked in the slightest. LOL come on studio, do a better job. Anyway quite a nice episode, much better than that episode 1. Anime is fine i think. At least i dont hate it phew. And also not sure why people were claiming that anime is gay, there are not many gay undertones in this one even. Characters dont even have bromance in them, they look like merely acquaintances honestly. Everyone is diving for themselves, there's no team sport where you support each other. And main character has a girlfriend. Sure he doesnt look interested in her but I think he is jutst not interested in any romance. his mind is only on diving. |

More training and a picnic with the girlfriend... He literally needs to start noticing her or else I will start crying like omg Yoichi's injury reminds of that one diver who went to the Olympics and they also hit his head on the platform... (and this was like 1980 something) and the diver was gay plus I think at the time he had HIV. But so the stereotype in 1980 was all people had HIV so when the blood was going throughout the people people were so scared that they would get aids... it just reminded of that for some reason add in- [Oh his name Greg Louganis] |

LOL!! Who is that flashy guy at the end? I love that he's all, "Long time no see, Yoichi Fujitani!" and Yoichi didn't seem to care, lol. The flashy guy's coat swaying with the wind and his gorgeous hair. <33 I look forward to meeting him next episode! :D It's unfortunate that Reiji and Ryo became distant with Tomo... :( They're probably too young to comprehend their emotions. The two are probably jealous, and they're being left behind in a way, while Tomo keeps moving forward... I applaud Tomo for keeping up with his training and his efforts to improve at diving! Although, I do hope Reiji and Ryo will work hard as well, and the three can be friends like before! >< I was sad to see that flashback of Yoichi's head getting hit... x( I wonder how he really feels now... Yoichi's father wanted him to come back to practice for the sake of the diving club, but didn't say, "I want you to come back for yourself." So it was great that Asaki answered honestly: she's working hard for herself, for the diving club, and for her deceased grandfather. But her motives have nothing to do with Yoichi's desire to compete in the Olympics – he is diving for himself. :) I like that reassurance from Asaki, she's a cool coach. <3 I look forward to seeing Shibuki's improvement in diving as well. He's definitely got style, but needs to learn how to dive in a pool, to get the points at the Olympics! Shibuki is such a quiet character... I'd like to see Shibuki and Ooshima’s interactions more often. ^^ It was nice to see them eat hot pot together, although the room must have been hot already, lol. Maybe someday, Shibuki will be more comfortable and talk more with Ooshima? And maybe that way, Ooshima will talk to himself less. xD I envy Shibuki's ability to hang upside down on a monkey bar. ;______; I could never do that...not with my hands either. It was nice to see Miu and Tomo have a picnic together. At most, I see them as friends instead of lovers... xP Tomo didn't seem to care, when Miu revealed that she and her mom had a bet on which food he'd eat first, and that she was right for saying he'd choose the hamburger. :P It was cute to see Tomo blush when he saw a couple kiss, but he didn't kiss Miu in the end... And Tomo never commented on Miu's haircut, despite the number of times she touched it. xD It was nice to see Tomo reveal his feelings about diving, and Miu’s admiration for his passion. :) If Tomo and Miu break up later, I can still picture them as supportive friends. I look forward to seeing these boys train in Beijing! It'll be fun. We'll probably meet the rivals by then. :D |

Not bad. We have an MC who's being shunned by his diving 'friends' but I don't see them working their butts off. At the same time he totally seems to take his girlfriend for granted. Maybe if he'd stop talking about diving we could learn about her. And that ending was a bit corny. |

I think she'd look clingy to some people because she's too head over heels for Tomoki while his feelings for her aren't that strong. I wonder if she will ever realize that but I think she started to notice that he doesn't pay attention to her. She tried to draw his attention to her new haircut but still no comment from him. Well, I guess there are guys like that. |

Holy crap. That was a better episode than the previous one. It always happen, a "friend" of yours who will hate you because you're getting good at something which one of the many things that really grind my gears. And I think Tomoki's girlfriend is fine, and she's far from clingy. |

Even if the difference is small on how "much" they loved each other, there's always one no matter what. In this case, Miu is obviously the one who's the reacher. I can't blame Tomoki for acting that way like he's taking her for granted. You know, not all boys are desperate to get laid especially those people who can easily get a girl. Their perspective is far too different than typical boys. He's also more into to his interest (diving) than romance or getting pervy thoughts like most typical teen do. Having said that, their interest don't align much, which is common in opposite sex.. He's more into to his passion, diving.. and she's just more into romance. |

Okay, so this was, by far, the best episode of the show and certainly the only episode that actually provided to entertain me and that too to quite a decent level. Glad to see how the relationship between Tomoki and Miu has stabilized too and the execution of it was indeed noteworthy too. Moreover, the picnic scene with the two was seriously adorable as well as a nice addition to the intense episode. Youichi's life-threatening fall during his childhood must have been a traumatizing event for him though. Nonetheless, a great episode that has most definitely managed kept me interested in the show as more episodes are due to come. |

Having said that, their interest don't align much, which is common in opposite sex.. He's more into to his passion, diving.. and she's just more into romance. I totally agree with you. I know that there are guys who place much more importance on their interests than thinking of romance and doing lovey dovey stuff with their girlfriends. Tomoki is one of those guys and maybe Miu will start to understand this side of him eventually. It's obvious she wanted him to say nice things to her and comment on her new look but I know that there are guys who don't pay attention to these details, which may lead to disappointment on the woman's part but I guess women learn to live with these things with time. Despite some people saying that Tomoki and Miu might break up, I don't see it happening. It's true that he doesn't show much interest in her but I think he'll come around eventually. I honestly don't see her dating his brother or anyone else for that matter as she's so in love with him. |

I'm one of them that thought they'll break up but after this episode i'm not sure anymore lol. In first episode, Tomoki being foreshadowed that might go BL with Youichi. But seeing Miu is still fine not being appreciated that much, still being supportive, considerate and all that. I guess, it will depend on Tomoki if they gonna break up or not. Seeing his resolve after being shunned by his friends, he might get determined as well which way he'll go when it comes to love. Also, maybe his "tiny pen" might include his relationship with her that's also somewhat being fenced in.. getting pressured to love her. |

This episode felt like a major step-up from the rest, particular in how Tomoki takes strides in improving himself, both in his diving training, his admiration for his fellow divers and his relationship with his girlfriend. Obviously, we have to care about the protagonist if we want to care about this story, so at least the show is taking care of that. The exploration of Yoichi and Shibuki's backstories also felt great. Maybe this show will be a keeper after all. |

It's not his fault if they can't keep up with him. If his friends continue to act immaturely that way towards him, they are like wanting Tomoki to pace down his progress so he can still be friends with them which is not really the right way to go. Tomoki's resolve after that day is awesome like "i want to be friends with you but if you don't want to be friends with me just because you can't keep up, FINE!". Besides, there's small reason for a kid like Tomoki to hangout with unmotivated friends.. and he'll eventually gain new friends ahead that passionately loves diving. Edit: Just noticed Dive's poster. Tomoki's diving friends will probably become motivated later then their coach will notice their body that they are now seriously doing their independent training, she'll coach them more than before. |

Yeah... I really love his decision to move forward... It's just that, the moment the coach personally trains Tomoki, his friends avoided him... and Tomoki wondered what's wrong... He kinda lost... but seriously, his resolution to ignore everything and focus on practicing is inspiring... |

this show is pretty slow and boring. the highlight of the show is seeing that stupid water reflection effect they put on the characters' skin when they're up on the diving board. gives me a good chuckle every time. i'd like to imagine that when whoever it was made the suggestion to do that, everyone was just too embarrassed to let him know that it looked retarded and so it just fluked its way into the final product. i just do not care for the sports shows that make it a point to get into annoying, mundane drama between completely unlikable characters from the very start as opposed to having the audience learn about the characters through actual competition. i get some genuine enjoyment out of the scenes where we see MC losing himself in the sport and practicing his ass off or actually diving, but those scenes seem pretty rare compared to the amount of bland exposition/backstory dumps. also, did MC's girlfriend really have to do that meme where she moves her hair behind her ear like 30 times? come on, man...it's not that endearing or cute. |

early half dialogue & directing pretty bad. Ok to 'tell' but gotta show things clearly, perhaps slow mo or diving diagrams would help, since they dive in a flash. Ie make Oceanboy's dive more dynamic, animation currently lacks. Bob cut, Miu's really trying. Tomoki's dense but I think Miu is very interested in him and his seriousness toward diving when talking of mental fence. Not sure if they breakup since some girls like determined guys a lot. Yoichi's flashback techno ost is awesome, but more suited to scifi drama. Nice seeing various motivations, Yoichi mostly diving for others as example & mdc, but maybe also to fix his own trauma. |
