Anyone watching the Olympics at all? What events or countries are you rooting for or looking forward to seeing?

I am rooting for the people's lives, because there is lack of clean water and the sports facilities are in really bad condition there.

First year I'm actually going to watch the Olympics (watched the opening today) so I'm just looking forward to all of it as a whole. Other years I just saw bits of it on TV.

Saw bits and parts of the opening.

Usually I watch just a bit of the Olympics, but I haven't seen the London one at all.

Don't think I'm going to watch the Rio one, either.

TV isn't really my thing.

I'm not watching it, but I have read a bit about the background and preparations. I think it's hilarious how many things have gone wrong during the preparation of the event, and how you could hardly make Brazil a less appropriate host for the Olympics. The other day I saw that they lost the keys to the stadium. How does this shit happen?

The absurdity of all the disasters aside, I do kinda wish they'd re-locate it. Brazil was chosen as host in 2009, so I assume conditions there were significantly better at the time. Right now it clearly isn't a safe environment for the spectators or the athletes.

I never watched the Olympics, but I read a few articles. Apparently, they had demolish a bunch of houses to make room for it. That's pretty terrible for those who lost their homes and jobs because of a stupid sports event.

Some Serbian rowers ended up in the toxic, shitty, water when their boat flipped over. Fuck Rio 2016, it's poisoning the world's athletes.

I always watched the Olympics. It's like the only major sports event I follow so faithfully. I'm rooting for Hungary and watching the sports my country is good at (fencing, rowing, canoe, athletics, water polo and swimming). We got two gold medals on our first day already (in fencing and swimming).

I'm also watching judo and diving because they are entertaining to watch. Not so interested in the other sports.

Not really. The conditions here have always been bad, specially there at Rio, that shithole of a city. The economy got worse since 2009, but as far as environment, security and competence go, nothing's changed.

I'll watch anything, but my favorites are beach volleyball and archery (cause I think they are fun) and gymnastics (cause I used to do it and it reminds me why I quit). I always mean to set aside time to watch them on schedule but I never do.

Not fussed about teams. I just like watching superb athletes.

Don't really follow it but I might watch a couple of things. However I'm glad we won gold already and especially because it's in cycling. Means Chris Froome can't win that one anymore.

I saw it on the news today, the lines were too big so they just let people through security without checking. Doesn't sound like a good idea.

On topic - Cycling is the most entertaining, but I don't really watch it.

There's only one thing I think of whenever someone mentions the Rio Olympics.

Was it the shyness in my soul that made me lonely just like you? No one noticed I was there, when I walked into the room.

I've been watching the Olympics since the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and I've been faithful to the sports event ever since. In general, I'm rooting for my country (USA) but depending on the sport I might root for a different country. Like in track, I've always rooted for Jamaica and in water polo it's been Croatia. I cheer on the US for most of the sports I'm interested in though. The US is obviously going to win the 2016 Rio Olympics as if that isn't obvious enough. They have more medals than some countries have athletes.
