In order to have a successful career as "un pâtissier" or "une pâtissière" , it is
essential to get the final part of your training in France, according to a very recent
newspaper article which I read. In preparation for that, it would make sense for
students to immerse themselves in French language and culture as much as
possible. After all, they are going to need to understand French very well in
order to be able to do their training in France. So the very strong French theme
of this series makes total sense.

お嬢様、特製ハニーミルクティーございます.
Ojōsama, tokusei hanīmirukutī gozaimasu.

What's with the ultra-formal wording that Gilbert-sensei used when talking to
Sayuri? Calling somebody "ojōsama" is really showing them a lot of respect,
typically when speaking to an extremely wealthy young woman.

In this story, Sannomiya-san is the only person who should appropriately be
addressed as "ojōsama" because she is super, super rich.

I'm just happy Sayuri wasn't hooked up to an IV because of some stupid reason like a fever. The amount of fevers you see in anime really makes you think that a Japanese cold would kill you.

I don't know, but the IV might be good as a simple way to keep her hydrated and
keep her electrolytes in balance. She was already in the hospital after all. It might
be the high-tech equivalent of giving a sick person soup. This could have been an
example of the "Ill Girl Trope": http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/IllGirl

I think this is what Suzumi actually meant but got it wrong somehow. Have never ever heard of leeks wrapping around necks anyway.

Ryou's orange tart looked delicious!

Wrapping leek over the neck? LMAO that was unexpected. Suzumi really is my fav. Ryou can be the 2nd best chara of this show.

"It can't beat my onion though." <<< Exactly.

Aaand ladies and gentlemen, today's moral is:-

"Leeks aren't scarves."

"I-idiot, we don't have to celebrate here!" lmao that was adorable. Best part along with the onion bit for sure.

They are handsome with that suits!!

As I heard again it's
“お嬢様、特製ハニーミルクでございます”
I thought that I heard honey milk tea, it's because I always buy milk tea in supermarket as I'm studying in Japan right now. Sorry for the wrong grammar, it's a sensitive case for me who learn Japanese.

Isn't that Jiru sensei uses polite words because they are imagining to serve Sayuri as her butler?

@pluffchoco:

Thank you for listening carefully a second time, just to be certain of exactly
what Gilbert-sensei was actually saying. Indeed, he was saying "honey milk"
and not "honey milk tea". So the people doing the subs had it correct as well.

My knowledge of Japanese is very weak and my knowledge of formal Japanese is
minimal. So I don't know when to say "gozaimasu" and when to say "degozaimasu".
But in this case, apparently it should be "degozaimasu". Live and learn.

My impression is that fluent native speakers of Japanese don't necessarily know
how to speak correctly using polite Japanese. I found a webpage that gives
a short tutorial on when and how to use "gozaimasu" (ございます) in business
conversations. There are also examples of usage of "degozaimasu" (でございます).
http://matome.naver.jp/odai/2140475106927403101

Previously, I had not thought about what "honey milk" might be. So I decided to
do a little Googling of "haniimiruku" (ハニーミルク). This turns out to refer to a
very wide variety of things. However, one interesting example was a recipe for
"hot honey milk" (ホット❆ハニーミルク). It is made with milk and honey. But it has
cream cheese and vanilla essence added as well. The multiple steps of the recipe
to make it look very complicated to me, but no doubt Gilbert-sensei would be able
to handle it: http://cookpad.com/recipe/2408599

Even if you can't read Japanese, click on that link just to see the beautiful photo
of a cup of hot honey milk.

Cardboard boxes of milk tea sold in supermarkets and convenience stores are
inexpensive and excellent. And of course it is sold in roadside machines as well.

If you want to, you can probably also buy a cardboard box of "honey milk tea"
(ハニーミルクティー), as shown in this photo: (click on this link to see the photo)

I must be reading weird things, but I've seen this "joke"/remedy in manga before (one being Hana Yori Dango), and not just once either. You're supposed to cut it though iirc.

Honey milk tea? Pweesh I just make my own at work :D But the secret ingredient of white chocolate...hmm. That sounds quite yummy. Would like to try Ryou's though. Seems like he and Sayuri are getting along very well again.
