A worthy continuation of the story from the series. Didn't unfold as I'd expected, but I enjoyed it overall. Though I can understand why some reviewers found certain events to be a bit of a let-down.

After re-watching the movie, and seeing the two side-story episodes, which apparently should have been viewed before the movie, I've upped my assessment of this. Just finished re-watching both seasons and the film. Overall, very good writing, with solid treatment of the characters and good attention to detail.

Second episode is especially good (9). Watched after the movie... probably best to do that, honestly, even though the specials take place before the events of the movie.

Badly dubbed; campy; macho-istic. Lots of rock & Hollywood action film influences; definitely a product of the 80s.

Mediocre SF. Its historical place cements it in many people's hearts and memories. Not great, not terrible, just meh. There are so many other, better anime SF stories to spend your time on instead, but Akira is worth watching once if only for the cultural context.

FMC is pretty autistic, and her denseness gets annoying at times, but it's played for humor appropriately. Story is fairly good overall. Themes of discrimination and perseverance and connectedness.

Oof. First impressions: Trash isekai, crap writing, garbage 3DCGI mixed in. After finishing the season: Trash fire, abysmal writing, lifeless 3DCGI. Bleck fest. Still, a bit of humor and cuteness, and a couple cool lines. Not as good as the low bar of Eminence in Shadow, even, sadly.

Trashy, and the writing is really atrocious. Has some entertaining elements, though, here and there.

I hate to say it, but despite some decent animation and action scenes, this one was boring and poorly-written. Its "based on a game" DNA shows.

A guilty pleasure... it has heart, but not brian... generally good emotional beats, but the writing is so contrived and terrible that the breaking of the suspension of disbelief somewhat deflates those beats. The only way to enjoy this anime is not to think, which is sad. Oh well.

AI, climate change, some Natsuki (MMC) and Atri (FMC) character development. Seemed a bit underdeveloped, but generally good.

Brilliant beyond the previous season. Plus Ultra.

Each season continues to go plus ultra over the previous one.

Lots of action. Not rich and deep like the series, but decent enough.

What if we could rewrite our past to correct things, assuage our regrets, make our lives better? Would it be better, truly, even if it seems so? What other dominoes might we inadvertently tip? Really deep and thoughtful piece - great exploration of its themes and great character development. Powerful stuff! Worth multiple viewings.

We (viewers) never learn, do we? These series usually have the dumbest writing. This one's fairly entertaining, and often funny, but often the characters' plot-induced stupidity and situational plot contrivances distract, and they suck the humor and joy out of what would otherwise be funny parts. One has to shut off one's brain to ignore how clueless the characters are in many ways. Still, it's a halfway decent dumb romance harem anime overall. (Make of that highly qualified statement what you will.)

Didn't expect much, but this turned out to be really great - one of my favorite isekai, tbh; original and engaging. Good balance of humor, seriousness, and characterization.

Main character is hopelessly clueless (typical shounen protagonist), but the show has its sweet moments, and it's got a sweet, romantic opening song.

Incomplete / basically just a teaser. Says "To be continued." Apartment building transformer. Kind of silly.

Highly contrived; plot firmly in driver's seat. I get that they're trying to do some kind of allegory with the Enlightenment and rise of the industrial age and democracies, but there's hardly any meaningful conflict nor character development, and it's nearly impossible to care.

Generally as entertaining as the series; very entertaining in spots. Really enjoyed Dekomori & Nibutani (Mori Summer) bits. Really didn't like the big sister - always being painted as the Big Bad. But I guess the scene in the restaurant should have been a clue as to her real intentions. Quite the adventure.

The subs on gogoanime are really poor.

Watched many years after having (re)watched the first two seasons of the anime, and I haven't seen the three films that apparently ret-conned the series, so I wasn't put off by continuity issues like some reviewers are. Seen and considered ~separately, this was a good movie.

Same cringe-inducing uncanny valley 3DCGI animation as Ex-Arm. Really awful wooden-faced, puppet-like characters. Zombie-like motion. Ugh. There's really no dynamic lighting either - characters' faces and bodies move, but the shadows (and the wrinkles in their clothes) don't. What a cheap, horrible production. So sad.

A number of issues that resulted in it not being as great as it could have been. It had lots of great elements (including philosophical stuff), but it just didn't seem to come together as a coherent and enjoyable whole.

I'd contrast it with Kubikiri Cycle: also a dark anime filled with philosophical content and clever, subtle allusions, and one that also focused on dark characters and themes and that also does some fourth-wall breaking - but ultimately KC comes out much more enjoyable overall (not to mention 1/3 of the length of EP).

The series is a masterpiece. This last season was also great, but it felt a bit rushed in some respects - would really like to have seen further time and development given to the transformation of Holdfast and to the further development of several of the relationships. But most relationships were given their due, some more subtly than others. Continued to reveal and tie together critical things to complete the series well as a whole. (Honestly should have been a bit longer of a season, though.)

It's not quite as moving as some other anime, but it's completely character-rich, character-driven, and thoughtful. One of the few really well-written shoujo. The deeper in to the series you go, the deeper the writing gets, the more complex and nuanced the characters get, and the more you get to understand and appreciate that what at first seemed like annoying or disappointing character traits makes total sense with the new context you become privy to. All in all, a really great story. I want to watch it again to notice all the new subtle bits that I'll be able to see now, and I hope this gets a second season.
