Synopsis

A Corgi can certainly dream! Taking a break from the frequent antics his colleagues get him into, Bebop crewmate Ein envisions himself sipping a tropical beverage on the beachside and scuba diving with Edward amid a barrier reef.

In this "picture drama," Ein fantasizes about his ideal summer vacation.

Background

The Cowboy Bebop series has been released in a Blu-ray format four times throughout the 21st century, with the fourth and most recent release being distributed by Bandai Visual in Japan beginning on December 21, 2012. The limited edition Blu-ray disc box set comes with a variety of paraphernalia, like production materials, audio commentaries, bonus footage, postcards, as well as Cowboy Bebop: Ein no Natsuyasumi—the latter of which would have been the first franchise-related animation in over a decade had it not been a series of still images.

Alternatively titled "Ein’s Summer Vacation," the special is paired with the song "Doggy Dog," as performed in English by Seatbelts, responsible for much of the musical score that appears throughout the main anime series. The same track can be found on their album Cowboy Bebop Vitaminless.

In 2013, distributor Anime Limited acquired a home video license for the United Kingdom; Part 1 of the Blu-ray collection was released on July 29, 2013. Appearing on the Part 1 disc, this would be the first time Western audiences could obtain a copy of the bonus short for themselves.

There was no reason not to bring this adorableness over to the Western Blu-Rays. My roommates and I were watching this after having rewatched the series and movie, and honestly, this would be a great foundation for an Ein-centered anime short series. Certainly a better new idea of what one could do with this IP than what they had been doing at Netflix.

The art style is simplistic and storybook-like, though it is more like a picture book slideshow than anything actually being animated. For how short and sweet it is, that just adds to the charm.

Mixed Feelings
It's just a slideshow of Ein and some of his adventures, there really isn't anything else to it.

It's interesting to think about what Ein is doing with Edward but it does not answer many questions.

My biggest gripe with this is that Sunrise, one if the biggest anime studios out there, couldn't bother at making an actual animation that involves Ein. That is this short's biggest flaw, it's a slideshow.

Ein was cute though and the vibrant colors really did make this slideshow look decent. Also Ein with eyebrows at the end pretty much proves that Edward is still with Ein.

Cowboy Bebop is a great western theme anime filled with great aura and ideology which eastern culture lacks. In this 2nd Review in an anime special. This special is better made than the first one I saw abd made a review which Black Bullet Special Teshu girls. I appreciate greatly the art than the other aspect. There is no nothing memorably mention I really just enjoy the art depiction dedication in Ein and all in all I give a rate 2 for this is what the rate this stand alone special deserves. If it is Cowboy Bebop series I will give it's deserving praise.
