29-year-old programmer Suzuki Ichirou finds himself transported into a fantasy RPG. Within the game, he's a 15-year-old named Satou. At first he thinks he's dreaming, but his experiences seem very real. Due to a powerful ability he possesses with limited use, he ends up wiping out an army of lizard men and becomes a high leveled adventurer. Satou decides to hide his level, and plans to live peacefully and meet new people. However, developments in the game's story, such as the return of a demon king, may cause a nuisance to Satou's plans.

Man, I don't even know where to begin. I always watch a few seasonal anime and try to follow through, regardless of whether they are good or bad. But this show is maybe the first show to actively really bother me, and it bothers me more and more every week. I'm basically watching it to get angry now. And part of my frustration for the show may be misplaced because I've seen several youtubers tear apart SAO for misogyny, and yet give this show a pass, where this show is one of the most misogynistic pieces of trash I've ever seen.

If you see the first episode of this anime, maybe you will ask yourself:
"Why are they wasting so much time before letting the MC enter the fanatsy world? It is irrelevant anyways!"

After watching the other episodes, you will realise why that is: Suzuki Ichirou, the 29-year-old hard-working programmer is on his "Death March" and after another hard days and nights he is going to sleep and starts to dream.
This just perfektely fits the rest of the story. If I wanted to describe the whole series with few words and without any spoilers I would say: The story is like a good dream:

This is it, the first time I ever rate something so far from the mean... I must have transcended existence itself...

I honestly don't understand why this anime is poorly rated, I came in trying to thrash it but I ended up enjoying it. I'm a big sucker for magic/fantasy/isekai anime and this one really hits the spot.

I'm generally put off by the characters in the isekai genre because they form retarded harems and just waste time on poorly executed romance arcs. Heck, I loved SAO for the environment and setting but the moment I saw Asuna getting naked I gave up on life.

This is unlike most MMO isekai anime I have watched. There are no quests or no giant monster in need of slaying. It feels more like a slice-of-life isekai anime more than anything else. The OP MC trope that a lot of people don't like can be explained more reasonably. Most of the time the MC is either just some pro gamer or some random nobody who just so happened to have really good stuff. But Satou in this story is a game dev, which seems to make more sense.

How the story starts off seems more fitting for the average human, since most of the read more
