The many-worlds interpretation and quantum physics. Not your usual anime bedfellows. Both series deal with time travel under the assumption that every choice we make can create an alternate, divergent time-line / dimension. Noein is a lot more ambitious than Steins;Gate, which preferred to stay within time travel limited to days-weeks and the same area. In Noein, the other selves of the child cast time travel with enhanced bodies; conversing with their younger selves as they fight using superpowers and struggle to sustain their bodies in a dimension they don't belong in. The future involving an entity known as 'Noein' destroying all alternate dimensions is  read more

Both have similar feels to eachother, and have a sci-fi element, and also involve a bunch of kids.

Fantastic Children's sci-fi side deals with reincarnation, where as Noein's deals with multiple dimensions, but in both you get to see multiple versions of the same characters. The key difference is that characters interact with their younger/older selves in Noein. Both series alternate between serious sci-fi and lighthearted, slower paced character-focused sections. Noein's 'down time' parts have more of a slice-of-life feel, but the blend of sci-fi and everyday actions means the two give off a similar vibe.

Both deal with a world that is dying and needs a girl to help them survive. Their plots are both very dark despite having some lighthearted moments.

While it may be a bit of a stretch to compare Noein to the likes of Eva, I think this obscure little sci-fi gem really needs to be brought into the limelight; despite its slow beginning and unusual art, Noein manages to tell a story both compelling and thought-provoking about alternate dimensions, the truth of the universe, and the pain suffered by an ordinary group of children. Sound familiar, Evangelion fans?

Both Ohnogi, Hiroshi (Script) and Akane, Kazuki (Director) worked on these series. The stories are epic and have a futuristic feel to them. More Tetsuwan than Noein, though. You'll notice that the same animation style was used in both of these series' fight scenes from time to time as well. Escaflowne is also another done by those two.

Both are about young girls sought by beings from other dimension, as they (the girls) are belived to have the power to save the other world. Both are also protected by powerfull being from the same dimension that tries to capture the main heroines.

Somewhat similar art styles and animation, both having to do with intergalactic forces seemingly beyond humanity's power, final enemies are even similar in appearance.

The girl with special power, needed to save both Earth and another world, and superhuman warrior from that world, who protects her and even betrayed his commanders for her sake.

Dark and psychological shows revolving around unstable existences and artificial gods... you name it!

Both anime deal with human awareness, ideas of existence, questions of reality and the nature of the universe.

The two shows are about a group of kids living a story far too dark and gloomy for their age. Both are excellent shows with deep psychological development and good action stuff.

this is a must watch. -amazing animation (best I have ever seen I think, episode 8 and 10 you will know what I mean) -godlike music and voice actors -mysterious and interesting story -interesting characters and their interactions and how they evolve as the story progresses.

Both series involves time and dimension travel. Also, the male protagonist in both series travels and battles against his other self to save the girl that he loves.

Noein does the job of raising the philosophical questions and Ergo Proxy answers them in its own unique style - these two anime complement one another and are both masterpieces rich with discussions of 'existence'.

Both involve high technology, plenty of battles and a somewhat dark storyline. In DtB, Hei is somewhat related to an incident resulting in the disappearance of South America. Similiarily, in Noein, Karasu is distantly related to the disappearance of various alternate worlds. Both protogonists are capable fighters, and both are searching for what happened in past times.

Both have children as the main characters, some kind of missions and high technologies. Also, a bit dark story line.

Both directed by Kazuki Akane, and they have pretty much the same atmosphere and space-travel setting. Some characters bear a lot of similarities too.

Multiple worlds, meeting other selves, and similar themes; both fantastic coming-of-age stories.

Both shows depict 'the end of the world' if something is not done and a tool can be used to create the 'perfect' world. Noein focuses more on dragon knights trying to protect their timeline called La'cryma from Shangri-la's invasion. The knights require an 'object' called 'Dragon Torque'. As they accidentally stumble into the present, they realise that this timeline is very similar to theirs. One of the knights chose to protect her while others insists that the dragon torque is just an illusion to them. As time goes by, they let the Dragon Torque choose for herself, to create a world that is perfect for  read more

Multiple futures and a person who seek the best variant of future, for saving the life of his(her) dear friend. People with 'magically' changed bodies, that gives them superpowers and ability to tough battles. The 'special dimensions' for battle (in Madoka - witch universes, in Noein - stopped time). Preventing of apocalypse (though the causes of it is pretty different). Young girl as 'living key' to great power and changing the destiny.

Strange coming of age stories that really make you think and question yourself, reality, and our universe. Both also use a slightly alternative art style.

These two anime share the same vibes. Both anime feat children as your protagonists as both anime have the main characters going through parallel worlds and dealing with immense existential threats. These two anime also have a cute friendly look to them, but they end up being very dark and mature shows. Psychological and moral issues also play a big role in these two shows as well.

These two stories explore the bonds of friendship and first love against the backdrop of multiple dimensions and their convergence into each other. Sayuri (Kumo no Mukuo...) and Haruka (Noein), the female main characters, experience visions and/or dreams of the different dimensions. Although their personalities are different, the do share the honor of being key to world shattering plots.

it is based on the same fictive level, while some may say it is not an anime because of the art, it is and also because they are both based in summer and they are both animes you would watch during the summer to change your mind and take a break. They both have weird creatures and more then one dimension.

Go through parallel worlds to save the one you love.

Similar plot elements - humans interacting with more advanced beings, people changing thier physical bodies and a some what clueless boy with romantic feelings for a girl that happens to have the potential to change the world hidden in her. Also some visual similarities.

Both anime make in depth reference to quantum mechanics, and carries the many themes associated with it such as, identity, reality, conscience, etc. While Zegapain appears more directed at action and Noein attempt to explore these themes are the further level, both are appropriate animes if you are into sci fi animes that’s more than just giant robots flying around shooting lasers.

If you like stories about parallel worlds/realities like the ones in Noein, so you must try Dual! too. We can't compare the two storylines at all because Dual! is a comedy series, but it's highly recommended to relax a little after the intensity of Noein. A good point in my opinion are the mechas on Dual!, they're cool! In short, both animes have the same theme (parallel realities), but with a totally different development and outcome.

Ano Hana is similar to Noein executed in reverse, without the sci-fi. If you got a lot out out of the slice-of-life parts of Noein, and found yourself moved by how time changes even the best of friends, then you'd LOVE Ano Hana. Noein focused on the bonds of a group of childhood friends before a tragic glimpse into their future showed how they'd all drifted apart. Ano starts with five childhood friends having drifted apart; the ghost of the sixth inspiring one to reunite them.

Both dabble in time and the future. They also have an air of parallel dimensions/universe.

i dont know how 2 Xplane but they look simular, like the world and the guy and all!! they gave me tha same vibe.

Similar enemies and feeling as both animes contain travel through time space and some of the characters are somehow stuck in their space of time in one or another way while they trying to resolve the problem. There is also a girl with a unique power which also resembles the enemy’s power and is mostly the key of the mystery in the story. Noein has a more serious plot, explains the sci-fi elements in a better way and the drama is better while Divergence Eve have more of the fan service part, but if you like animes with with science-fiction I think you will like them  read more
