Haikyuu!! To the Top Part 2

Once called a fallen powerhouse and known as "Flightless Crows," Karasuno High School has finally taken flight at nationals. With a comprehensive performance against Tsubakihara Academy in their first match, the team is now facing its toughest opponent yet: the runners-up of the last Spring Tournament, Inarizaki High School. Furthermore, dealing with the formidable twin Miya brothers only makes things more difficult for Karasuno.

As soon as the match begins, Karasuno is overwhelmed by all the noise and jeers from the supporters of Inarizaki High but rekindles its strength thanks to its own loyal fans. Karasuno also gains some momentum by utilizing an attack centered on Shouyou Hinata, but the eccentric play of Atsumu and Osamu Miya delivers an unexpected blow that leaves their opponent astounded.

Things are bound to get intense as the match progresses between these two teams. Will Karasuno be able to defeat Inarizaki High and overcome the hurdles that threaten its pursuit to the top?

Just 3 words- HAIKYUU IS AMAZING!

No anime can come close to this one. There is not a single episode you want to skip, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and it is just so damn beautiful to watch the Karasuno boys play. Seriously love them from the bottom of my heart.

I am so excited to watch the dumpster battle movie and really see them fighting well against Nekoma. This anime makes you feel things you havent felt before. Its just beautiful! I would rewatch them again and again and I will never be bored of them. Happy that each character ... gets screen time even if its an opposition team. I wish Hinata was given more screentime during the matches but he only lent a hand at the survivals. But then this also helped shine the rest of the characters who can be seen having their own personal growth. Kageyama has evolved in his own pace and Tsukishima has also started to soften up towards the game and the team. The storyline is just perfect. I am so overwhelmed and overjoyed right now that I cried in the last few episodes. It moved hearts.

The OST is dope as usual and while I noticed the drawings have changed a bit in the few episodes but was alright in the next 2 due to production issues so its a minor issue that can be overlooked but coming from S1, this show was amazingly done well. Its like you have the best and the weak but needs to have a balance in between them for the game to win. You can’t underestimate any single player as they are not fighting for the outcome but for a single point. Its got friendship, bonding, love, teamplayer spirit but also to lead the game by not underestimating anyone.

Only disappointment was that I should have start watching this anime a long time back. But thankfully, I happened to finish it. I am proud I watched Haikyuu and I am glad I am part of the fandom.

"Getting too much is almost as bad as not getting any." If you don't know where this quote is from, it's because I read it from a doujin, but it might just hold true for this cour of Haikyuu:To the top. That is because, who decided to have the whole cour dedicated to a single match? And so let me introduce the undesired younger sibling of the Shiratori Zawa match.

Well, Shiratori Zawa was more the undesired sibling, since the match itself wasn't as good, but the build up was much better. Like, a match that lasted 14 episodes (note ... that the average length of a volleyball match, according to Google goes from 60 to 90 minutes. This match was easily double the length), surely, the opponent was some fated rival or some other shonen bullshit right? Nope, just a team where one of the dude did slice fo life stuff with one of the main dudes back in the slice of life bit of the first cour. Hardly anything worth talking about.

And don't even try to sell me on the "but they were potential champions" or "but that's a legendary duo against the Karasuno legendary duo" rhetoric cause it's just lame. As for the match itself, there were some actions where I gasped, especially that last point which was just orgasmic, but I can't stress how obnoxiously long this match was, and for every dope action during the match, there was one annoying flashback. For the love of Shimizu, stop with the flashbacks. We get it, everyone is going through some struggle, now stop.

Not to forget that Karasuno's next match is against Nekoma, and I don't need a manga or future sight to know that despite the fact this match easily has the best build up in this anime, it won't be as intense or as good as this one was, and that annoys me even further. But the good side is, I'm finally done with the anime, I can finally watch something better. Monogatari, here I come

Haikyuu!! To the Top 2nd Season

If anyone has seen my other reviews, they know I like Haikyuu. This anime had everything for me to be entertaining and engaging. But this all started to crumble after the third season came out and now it's over. Watching this season was honestly a disappointment and a painful one at that.

The relatively fast pacing died, the scenes just didn't have any dynamics anymore, except for the last 5 minutes. And to make it worse, the animations went down the tubes. More than half of the faces this season looked like they were drawn by an amateur who had ... just been thrown into the studio. Episode 9 in particular... uhh ohh.

The actual game itself wasn't any better, it was boring and very sluggish. Even though the 2 twins as opponents weren't that bad. I thought they were very authentic siblings with very real relationships. But this was the only highlight of this season.

The flow of this game was protagonists get depressed, Hinata cheers them up, they get depressed, and Hinata cheers them up. And so on and so forth. And precisely because this happened so often, Hinata's last and final motivation became meaningless in the end. Had the other moments been removed or changed, Hinata's final ball acceptance would have had a real impact. Unfortunately, this was ruined by the overdose of this approach.

Haikyu is nonetheless a very interesting anime, for people who just want to watch something "likable", without any great plot or rivalry. However, I hope that the upcoming seasons will improve.
