Synopsis

Among the seaside town of Izu's ocean waves and rays of shining sun, Iori Kitahara is just beginning his freshman year at Izu University. As he moves into his uncle's scuba diving shop, Grand Blue, he eagerly anticipates his dream college life, filled with beautiful girls and good friends.

But things don't exactly go according to plan. Upon entering the shop, he encounters a group of rowdy, naked upperclassmen, who immediately coerce him into participating in their alcoholic activities. Though unwilling at first, Iori quickly gives in and becomes the heart and soul of the party. Unfortunately, this earns him the scorn of his cousin, Chisa Kotegawa, who walks in at precisely the wrong time. Undeterred, Iori still vows to realize his ideal college life, but will things go according to plan this time, or will his situation take yet another dive?

I score based on enjoyment, and not on "the music here was inappropriate" and "the characters weren't relatable enough". Obviously, those things do factor into enjoyment but I dont score each individual factor and bust out the calculator for an average score. Regardless, I will talk about the story art sound etc. too, however briefly.

Story-8
The story is pretty basic, which isn't a bad thing at all. Its a pretty linear and easy to follow story and it fits the premise of the Anime.

Art- 7
The art is good, animation is a bit choppy, but the titan faces, scenery, and characters in general are well drawn.

Sound-8
The OP read more

Grand Blue manga is the single most unfunny comedy series that is not Gintama. Naturally, when I heard it would be getting an anime adaptation from none less than Zero-G, I laughed like 7 minutes straight knowing how epic it would be. As expected, that was also the only funny thing related to this series.

Story:

We don't have a story, but we have settings. Scuba diving. The funny part is that the series itself has practically nothing to do with scuba diving. The only thing that reminds even slightly of anything water-related, it is water boarding, as watching this is pure torture. The series is so read more

Grand Blue is an AMAZING MANGA and I highly recommend you guys to read the manga after you have watched episode 1 of the anime to get the voices in your head. Shifting away from the "on how to watch" (which is up to you), the adaptation is so far on point with the manga which makes me very happy! Within 4 episodes in, it looks like the format for each episode is going to cover 2 chapters of manga! This show is basically, If you like comedy such as Gintama, you will definitely love Grand Blue; a show about daily struggles of students read more

Grand Blue so far is a hilarious anime for this season. The start of the first episode makes the anime seem like a generic boy moving to a new town for a fresh and new start. But lo and behold, he opens the doors to see..... NAKED MUSCULAR MEN.

It has a distinct art style that brings out more comedic effect at times, but the art is not anything ground-breaking, kind of normal and standard.

The music is okay, I actually really like the OP song, gives off modern EDM westerinized vibes.

I love the characters, none of them are very annoying and all have their read more
