They both use the same plot device of having no real plot, rather they construct situations in which they put the characters like providing copious amounts alcohol to a tennis match or introducing the most beautiful dog to the most emotionally broken student and seeing the bitter sweet but hilarious healing of both parties.
These shows are just beautiful in general.
