New Interest Stack
Interest StacksI'm talking about series that aren't afraid to show gratuitous... culture. Not just a little fan service here or there. Done are the days of upskirt panty shots! A simple Ecchi tag will not stand! These cannot be explained away when your parents walk in the room. Anime series that covers all of its original source they're based on, with some notes. This list is still WIP... Shounen doesn't involve romance. I've seen quite a few Anime fans who use this argument to dismiss discussions of who the main protagonist in a Shounen work will end up with. The problem is, instead of being an accurate statement, the statement instead is a red flag to those of us who've seen quite a bit of Anime. We know that person isn't as familiar with the Shounen demographic (not genre) as they think they are, but the intent of this list is to help others better familiarize themselves with the genre. This is the correct watch order for the To LOVE-Ru franchise. This stack is for Nisekoi-type anime, abstractly named after a (in)famous romantic comedy where the characters are forced to accept a arranged engagement and artificial relationship in general. Such shows are usually based on a very characteristic premise, where a guy and a girl, less often other combinations, are forced to be together due to a forced engagement or a fake relationship, but subsequently fall in love with each other for real (not necessarily at the same time). Additional drama is also possible where the characters are already in love with someone else and/or are forced to maintain that relationship due to circumstances. An assorted stack of anime series involving alien characters on Earth or set in alien planets. my guilty pleasure shows (can be ecchi or non-ecchi). please note that i only rate shows based on my likeliness to recommend it to strangers. a low rating in this stack doesn't mean anything (i can give it a low rating and still guiltily like it). Anime that you can watch without having to worry about paying too much attention. Mostly slice of life/episodic anime. Anime who's main character's love interest is from another planet. Typically they're met through accident and often end up with the alien girl living with them or attempting to keep everything a secret. The alien girls tend to also typically be a little airheaded and have little to no shame about getting naked, often to the embarrassment of their beloved. In my rather excursive anime history, I have encountered many series with gender swapping motifs. Some have a recurrent theme throughout the series, whereas others only feature gender swapping plotlines in an episode or two. Because of this, many of these series aren't often tagged or labelled as such. Therefore I've decided to compile them all in one place. |
