Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!: Kono Subarashii Choker ni Shukufuku wo!

Throughout the course of KonoSuba's first season, it became apparent that its primary appeal to many people is arguably its use of an over-the-top and well-timed form of comedic humor. This OVA episode is simply an extension of that level of humor that many of us come to love and appreciate.

You can consider this episode more of a stand-alone episode - in terms of plot, it is not connected to any part of KonoSuba's first season. To summarize quickly, our four favorite wanderers - Megumin, Aqua, Darkness, and Kazuma - enter Wiz's shop one day, where we meet Yunyun, Megumin's ... self-proclaimed rival. As they bicker among each other, Kazuma puts on a magical device that can grant any wish. If the wish isn't granted within a four day period, the user dies. Since Kazuma doesn't wish for anything (or so he thinks), he uses the next four days to make Megumin, Aqua, Darkness, Yunyun, and Wiz to do whatever he wishes. Hilarity ensues.

Simply put, this was a nice and fun OVA to watch. It's difficult to critically analyze OVAs since they tend to be short (only 20 minutes long) and don't follow the main story, so I've spared you the trouble. But in terms of the script itself, the writing is highly consistent with the execution of that of the first season. The humor hits you just at the right moment, and the writers of this OVA have delivered a surplus of it, that's for sure.

So, should you watch this? Well, for one, if you're expecting something really deep or meaningful, you have come to the wrong place. Or perhaps you think the characters will be more tolerable despite the fact that you found them bland and irritable during the first season - well, unfortunately, they're exactly the same, so I would not recommend watching this OVA if you hold that opinion. On the other hand, if you liked how KonoSuba's comedy played out during the first season, you'll probably like this too. And, finally, it should be noted that there is some combination of fan service, crude humor, and lewd humor present - and, at times it was on the level of what we witnessed in the infamous Season 1 Episode 9 ("God's Blessing on this Wonderful Shop!"). So if you found yourself cringing throughout Episode 9, maybe this also isn't for you.

All in all, this was a humorous time-killer. Fortunately, in case you haven't heard, there is a second season in the works right now. But for now, this will have to do until it's released.

Apart from a few funny lines and visual gags, this OVA, like most, was just filler garbage. Nothing really too special or worth-while about it apart from some tiny character developments for Megumin.

Lots of fanservice that detracts from the overall ideas behind the show. Not much creativity put into the premise and the story falls flat more than once. This is backed up by a messy structure that jolts from premise to premise.

If there's one positive thing to say is that the physical humor here was better than a lot of the main shows. As stated before, Megumin received minor development with a small ... look into her past group endeavors but that doesn't provide enough to save a horribly meandering story.

KonoSuba had a great start, an interesting idea, and good execution. It was a parody and it was funny. These go together perfectly. However, during the first season, towards the last few episodes, KonoSuba was absolutely ruined. Multiple things caused this - ecchi fanservice, no development, no plot advancement, and it became an absolute joke. Trust me, I like fanservice as much as the next guy, but when the show becomes only centered around fanservice, it becomes horrible.

Anyways, back to the OVA. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything big with plot, but at least something interesting involving the original ideas for the show. I ... mean, perhaps they ran out of ideas towards the end of the first season, which is kind of silly considering it's only 10 episodes, but I hoped they didn't fall into a pit of despair where they gave up on the idea and just threw a bunch of nude girls to the audience and hope they got good ratings.

I guess I was wrong.

This OVA was pure fanservice. I already saw the direction it was going when a half nude girl was introduced to the show. The plot appeared to be written by a horny 12 year old who just wanted a way to justify naked girls on television. The characters were basically made fun of because they showed no resistance, and the MC turned into a terrible human being who was definitely different than the show. The original plot basically ceased to exist, so they might as well be anywhere because it apparently isn't important anymore. This, unfortunately, confirmed my belief that the second season will probably be similar to the end of the first season and this OVA.

I understand that fanservice is sometimes good and that ecchi elements can produce humor, and that this show in the first season used some of that to their advantage. I do agree. However, this is definitely not the same show I watched the first season. It was all just for fanservice, and that makes a show absolutely terrible. The art and sound were both great, but know for sure this isn't the same show anymore.

There's not much else to write, except that I'm ashamed the producers allowed the show to stoop to the level of a typical ecchi harem series. Watch it for the ecchi, however, don't watch it for the plot. It's a completely joke.

KonoSuba has (temporarily) returned! That lascivious humour, that dumb water goddess, that masochistic knight, that explosion loving loli, and of course, that shut-in lustful neet! It's all back for just one 20 minute special that had me laughing my ass off the whole time.

I wasn't expecting much from the KonoSuba OVA, since most OVAs tend to dissatisfy me and leave me with a bad taste in my mouth. But the KonoSuba OVA was everything that I could ever ask for. It was able to perfectly encapsulate the charm of KonoSuba's lewd comedy and condense it into an enjoyable, hilarious 20 minute special without seeming rushed ... or made for the sake of being made. The OVA, for the most part, was able to give the cast all their due limelight, but Megumin's character was the one that received the most introspection, so if you're a fan of Megumin, you should definitely watch this.

It's difficult to review much for an OVA, due to the lack of content, but I'll do my best to write an informative piece. The majority of the humour in this special pertains to Kazuma's ridiculous teenage lustful desires, so if the perverted jokes and the polarizing, infamous bath scene with Darkness rubbed you the wrong way then I wouldn't recommend this OVA. On the other hand, if you found Kazuma's lewd nature and perverted tendencies absolutely hilarious, then I cannot recommend this enough. In this OVA we're also introduced to Yunyun, the self-proclaimed rival of Megumin and their interactions are a joy to watch as well. The unintentionally (?) funny derpy animation has made its return, with more absurd boob flopping than ever! Watching those ridiculous expressions and facial designs on the adorable cast really reminded me why I loved this show so much and made me realize how much I missed it.

Enjoyment: 10/10

I laughed my ass off the whole OVA and was nearly in tears during those last few scenes. This OVA really captured the spitting image of Konosuba's smartness and humour and executed it with finesse. Probably the best special I've seen, and really did it's job as an original video animation greatly.

Overall: 7/10

All in all, if you enjoyed KonoSuba, you should really have already watched this. Keeps me sane while I eagerly wait for January 2017 when season 2 airs.

If you have seen the first season of this, it was really over the top, funny and enjoyable show. Now this OVA is just another episode of their adventures.

In this OVA, Kazuma puts on a magical choker that can only be taken off by fulfilling his wish, but it will continue to tighten until it strangles him if he doesn't get his wish.

Of course with this show, you know nothing goes as planned. So Aqua, Darkness, Wiz, and Megumi are going out of their way to help fulfill his wish. Talk about the most ridiculous, hilarious adventure to help Kazuma get his wish. ...

This OVA is a great continuation to the show. While watching this, I didn't think I could laugh any harder. Watch the first season, then watch this. I promise you won't regret it.

Man, I love this anime so much. It is so hilarious. This is just an extra episode OVA from the first season, and under any other circumstance, it wouldn't be anything special. But, because it's Konosuba, it had me in tears throughout. It's a very simple episode, where Kazuma puts on a magic choker that will kill him if his wish doesn't come true. And so, he has the rest of the crew do all sorts of lewd things to try and get it to come off. That's really all there is to it, but it's so hilarious. One of the ... most endearing things about this anime are the MC's total lack of morals. And it is on full display here.

I can't really say more than that. If you like Konosuba, you will love this episode.

If a good amount of fanservice or ecchi won't bother you and you're dying for more Konosuba, then this OVA is for you. Otherwise, don't watch it as this OVA is pretty heavy with the fanservice from the start. The OVA is kind of its own standalone episode, lightly connected to the main story in season 1, so not watching it means you're not missing out on anything major. Personally, I wish they would have filled in some of the time gaps they had in season 1, but the OVA is still entertaining. Considering season 1 was only 10 episodes, more Konosuba is a good ... thing if you're a fan of the series.

So is the OVA worth watching?

Story: 7/10
There's barely any story at all, which is fine for this OVA and given Konosuba's story setup in season 1, the story is usually pushed aside for the sake of comedy so I personally don't care for any story here. The setup starts off with Kazuma, Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness visiting Wiz's shop, they meet Megumin's friend Yunyun (a new character who'd you only know from reading the light novels or spoilers), some shit happens, and Kazuma gets the chance to push his lust to the limit! This episode is not all fanservice, as the fanservice dies out near the middle/end for comedic effect. The story then evolves from fanservice to friends realizing what they would do for each other (as well as what to would do to each other) in desperate times.

Art+Sound: 8/10
The art+animation in the OVA looks better than what was in season 1, so that's a good improvement that I hope gets into season 2. The voice acting for this is still top-notch as it was in season 1 and continues to bring the comedy to life. Other than that, not too much is different in the character designs, overall animation, and backgrounds from season 1. The same thing can also be said for sounds and background music.

Characters: 9/10
The characters are pretty much the same as they were in season 1, without everyone acting as they would given the OVA's story. The new character, Yunyun, was quickly introduced and was just as quickly dragged into this mismatched group's antics. While we don't know a lot about her except she's Megumin's friend/rival, part of Yunyun's character gets filled in with her interactions with Megumin. These interactions also reveal some of Megumin's background, which adds quite a bit of depth to Megumin's overall character that you would not see if you didn't watch this OVA.

Enjoyment: 9/10
While not the usual Konosuba episode, the comedy is still good here in the OVA. The earlier parts of the episode were heavy on the exploiting fanservice for the comedy, which may not be funny for some people, though it does get toned down towards the end. If you can handle some fanservice, then you'll find the familiar comedy from season 1 is alive and well in the OVA.

Whole point of this episode is fan service, same as with episode 9. It's sad, because , while watching boobs of female characters (particularly Wiz and Darkness) is great to some extent (it's also worth nothing that legendary piece of meme art is from this episode), very soon it really becomes too much. It has some interesting scenes other than fan service, but because of such a focus on fan service, I give it 6/10. It's still "Kono Subarashii", but it shows what would this series look like if fan service was it's only purpose. Recommended only if you really liked the series. As for ... others, don't think this will change your opinion of the series.

Kono Suba was an unexpectedly enjoyable addition to the lost-in-fantasy genre. This one-episode OVA keeps fans engaged while the second season is under development. It introduces an additional character, Yunyun, who claims to be a rival to Megumin. This is essentially a fan service episode where all the girls basically respond to our perverted protagonist's every command. Expect a bit of comedy, a lot of abuse of our proud Aqua, and a very solid dose of ecchi. If you liked the first season, you'll enjoy this OVA as well too.

Animation:
The animation feels just like that in the other episodes, all the way down to the ... lecherous eyes of Kazuma. There's not a lot of action in this episode, in its place is an expectedly large amount of fan service. Yunyun adds another member to the busty group in this show.

Sound:
All the VAs from the parent show are here as well. Aki Toyosaki joins as yet another veteran VA to this very talented cast. Her voice complements Yunyun's slightly shy personality quite well, just remember Momo from ToLoveRu! The show uses the same OP, ED, and BGM as the main show, it really feels like a bonus episode.

Story:
Kazuma puts on a choker that only comes off when his wish is granted, unfortunately, if his wish isn't granted in four days he dies. Having forgotten what he wished for, the gals are forced to obey his every lecherous command. The show continues its fan-service until it reaches a predictable climax and ironic conclusion, a truly comedic and refreshing ride.

Character:
The main cast returns for some expected interactions. Yunyun is barely introduced though she immediately feels like a natural fit with the other characters. The episode does a good job of showcasing each character's traits (such as Aqua's infuriation at being used for meager manual labor, Darkness's love of being abused, etc). Obviously, don't expect too much growth in an OVA.

Value:
This is a fun and fitting addition to an already refreshing series. It's definitely an enjoyable and entertaining way to spend half an hour.

For all intents and purposes, this OVA is no different to a normal episode, set chronologically after where the first season ended. If you have enjoyed the humour and characters from before, then you can expect much of the same here.

That said however, this episode is fairly mundane, so much so you can compare it to a filler of sorts. Nothing important happens during the entire duration albeit for the introduction Yunyun, done in the most humdrum manner ever. To be honest, I would have preferred it if they saved her for the second season instead.

It didn’t help either when the plot went full lewd ... this time around, lots of fan service was served in the short span of 20 minutes. While that sounded good on paper, it actually did more harm than good in practice. Seeing Megumin in gym bloomers was cute, but I would rather that they expanded the segment of her past experience instead. Same goes for the other characters too, Kazuma included, since they saw no development what so ever in this episode, which is a shame.

Though except for that little complaint which I had, everything else was good and on par in comparison to a normal episode. Art and sound wise were all spot on, as was the voice acting in general. I can find no reason why anyone would want to skip this, besides being a hip contrarian. Same as the first season, I would recommend watching this wholeheartedly.

This is probably the peak of human artistic potential. I believe that no work will ever match the shear quality that is contained in this short episode. This episode follows the character Kazuma who the viewer gets to live through in order to obtain their fantasies. In this episode the brilliant plot brings Kazuma into contact with a magical choker that will slowly strangles him until his death unless the thing he wishes for comes true. Kazuma thinking ahead puts the choker on in order to get his entourage of attractive women and Megumin to partake in lewd activities for his and the viewers enjoyment. ... it's needless to say my penis got very hard during this episode although I wish that Megumin and Aqua would have switched roles since I prefer my women to have very large breasts. Either way this is a brilliant story that lets the viewer live out their fantasies and it's a great watch for the whole family.

While the first season of the anime was amazing, this OVA is definitely not as good.

Starting off with the good parts of the OVA, the animation is very expressive and fun, just like how it is in the first season. It also has a lot of ecchi and fanservice if you're into that kind of stuff along with having genuinely funny moments.

But that's when the bad parts come in. The story is mediocre, but it is an OVA, so I'll let it slide. The biggest thing that bothered me was actually Kazuma himself. Usually Kazuma is a character that is an asshole on the surface ... and is sometimes a scumbag, but deep down he really does care about his friends. In this OVA though Kazuma turns into a complete uncaring asshole. It's kind of uncomfortable to watch, since Kazuma is acting completely out of character and doing exetremely scummy things, compared to how he is normally. I enjoy fanservice usually, but not if it destroys the characters that I know and love.

Overall I would not recommend watching this OVA unless you consider it non-canon.

REVIEW WITH NO SPOILERS

Well there are two ways to analyse this OVA.

The first - As a OVA, a special... it means something beyond the anime, that is supposed to add something to the show. If you choose this aspect, the score would be 4, because its basicaly 23 minutes of fan service and the addition of a new supporting character.

The second - As an episode of the first season of the show. Then the score is 8 (same score that I gave to the first season) because it follows all the pattern of the anime and it's really like watching some episode of the first ... season.

If you liked the first season, I recommend you to watch this special, because it's very funny and doesn't run out of the base of the anime.

Then, if you decide to watch you can choose what perspective you want to use.

Not every anime has to be horny. Honestly I struggle to find enjoyment in horny anime, and I'm usually embarrassed and put off by it; this remains true for this OVA. The horny-ness wasn't even funny, just cruel and self-serving. Kazuma was cruel in this. I was hoping this show wouldn't become a harem anime, and I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

The voice acting, visuals and music were all top-notch, as always. The characters acted as they would. If you're a creep, you might enjoy this more than I did, but there's still that Konosuba goodness to be found underneath.

My complete first impression after watching this was:

"I would let my future son watch this."

The only issue with this OVA is that it is a standalone episode, so much that it confused viewers when Season 2 started because if you believed the events were canon, a few things would be rearranged/retconned. The essence of this OVA isn't completely unique to this series either, which makes it seem like filler.

However, Konosuba greatest asset is that it is a very character driven show, and this OVA in particular uses its casts and their strengths, flaws, and relationships to its fullest to bring a comedic and ... ecchi-tastic extravaganza for your hot blooded male entertainment.

Its still the same vibe from season 1. Very cute, that's the right word for this anime. It's been a long time looking for an anime like this that isn't brutal, serious, dramatic. Everything is just comedy and really enjoy watching it is absolutely perfect. I burst out laughing from the beginning of watching this anime. Absolutely excited with each episode presented so comedy. Moreover, it is combined with jokes and lewd behavior that is my dream anime so far. Awesome! Even though it's a bit perverted, but not getting too far, that's how good this anime is, coupled with really good adventure music. So ... it's not bored watching each scene especially when the scene is really busy together. Watching it again is sure to keep busy and not really bored, a really good recommendation for my friends. Thank you season 1, I will continue watching season 2.

This OVA was a complete waste of time and just downright nasty... The original Konosuba is nothing special in my honest opinion, but it's a decent anime with some serviceable characters. In this though, everyone is treated like a sex toy for our shut-in Otaku Protagonist... Even Megumin (Who is 13 years old!!!). I know Kazuma is 17, so this doesn't make it pedophile behavior, but it's still super uncomfortable for me just to watch every action transpire... -_-
This OVA just exists as dumb filler that will only please perverts and masochists maybe... It is not entertaining whatsoever to see these characters being exploited ... sexually for Kazuma's amusement. The only one not suffering is Aqua just because he doesn't find her alluring or sexy, while everyone just ends up miserable throughout most of the runtime to this travesty...

If I had to pick out a few good things to this OVA, it would be that, at the very least Kazuma felt bad for what he did to his friends at the end of the day and the animation itself isn't bad at all. It's not Amazing or anything, but it's good for OVA standards. Also Yunyun was introduced here before season 2 and she seems like a fun character if her introduction has anything to go by. I do like her relationship to Megumin which was kind of cute, giving the explosive rather cheeky character a rival to mingle and fight toward.

Other than that, this is an OVA that I wholeheartedly would skip entirely in a heartbeat. The new character was wasted here... I'll just watch Yunyun in Season 2 and see if she will hopefully be introduced much better there... Iif I ever get to season 2 that is...)

Just a fan service OVA, which I'm fine with. What I'm not fine with is the Megumin parts of this. She's way too young to be sexualized, yet this ova does that. Besides that I thought this ova was pretty good. Not as funny as a usual episode but it isn't meant to be, it's meant to be pure fan service.

MAL wants a longer review, yet it doesn't allow spoilers. Honestly a lame policy imo. So I'll be recommending some other anime. Re Zero was amazing, my personal favorite anime. It's a fantasy isekai with a fantastic story, fantastic characters, fantastic worldbuilding, fantastic music, ... and fantastic voice acting. As you can see, everything is fantastic. And no I'm not biased. Definitely not. /s.

Attack on titan is also great, although the first two seasons are slow imo. But season 1 was ok, season 2 was good, season 3 was great, and season 4 is amazing.

Steins;gate has a slow first half, and a gross pervert Daru, but besides that it's amazing and the show is 10/10.

Alright, what did you expect? In a show already known for a it's fanservicing moments, this is an OVA bonus episode. You think it isn't just going to be wall to wall bikinis, cleavage and lewd jokes? What I'm more impressed by is how they managed to fit all these things in with a plot that actually makes sense and plays to all the characters real personalities.

Frankly I love the balls KonoSuba has to make the protagonist actually be honest about his lewd desires. Most shounen protagonists or even iskeai protagonists fall into two categories: virgin simp and practically asexual obliviousness. Kuzuma doesn't care about ... what people think of him, he knows his reputation is already trash. He'll admit what he wants and then actually try to take it without hesitation instead of freaking out and going "ah, oh no boobies, what do I do?"

As a degenerate piece of trash myself I love the way he treats the people around him in the name of fulfilling all his desires, and I will never not laugh at the moment he's confessing all his worst sins to all of them and their reactions. Solid OVA, 8/10

they hired Aki Toyosaki to voice YunYun that's all the motivation i needed to watch season 2. that is my review. Toyosaki = tenshi

if you don't know who Aki Toyosaki is, she is a VA who voices Yui Hirasawa who is one of the most beloved anime characters ever concieved and i cannot think of this person or hear her voice without smiling.

konosuba is a pretty good show. the characters are kinda tropy but the synergiy is there. i like how YunYun is introduced in this OVA and the scene is revisited in the second season adaption. she's pretty cute, only having one friend ... who doesn't admit you're a friend but refusing to fall into a self deprecating fit.

her character visual design is interesting, though i don't know why anyone would expose their heavy breasts without support if they were supposed to be a naive kid. idk i'm not complaining though.

i wonder if toyosaki-san thought her breasts were funny as well. . . probably
