I really am tired of stories that pretty much end shortly after the couple finally gets together after running through a gauntlet of close calls and misunderstandings. Yes, the journey to being a couple is fun, but there’s so much more story to tell, and this show tells it!

Trauma bait, but it's actually wholesome?

Takopi's Original Sin is a sweet little anime, a breath of fresh air in the middle of the seasonal dryness that shows a ton of heavy themes like bullying, divorce, bad parenting, and the harshness of life. I'm giving "The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague" a "very good" but! there are some things i want to say.
First and for most, the concept of this anime, is actually REALY cool, i enjoy it, it's unique.

Plot: 7/10 because it really has potential, especially in terms of world-building and character development (I mean all the characters, not just the MC). The ending feels kind of rushed and is jam-packed with major plot twists that could’ve been slowly introduced in earlier episodes. Instead, the show spends 11 episodes focusing on everyone trying to boost the MC’s self-confidence because it’s so low that even he can’t fix it on his own.

Wasted potential. Complete trash, and it almost feels intentional. I genuinely do not recommend watching this. What makes it worse is that the first two episodes were actually strong enough to create real hope. They had momentum, atmosphere, and just enough intrigue to make it seem like this would become something memorable. Instead, the show completely collapses right after that. It does not slowly decline. It does not stumble and recover. It just falls off a cliff and never gets back up.

This is actually my first review on MAL, which should say a lot by itself. I normally do not feel strongly enough to write ... reviews, especially not angry ones, but this series managed to annoy me so much that I had to say something. I am honestly appalled by how much potential it had and how badly it wasted all of it. This could have been great. Not just decent, not just watchable, but genuinely great. The setup was there. The early episodes suggested confidence, direction, and a story worth investing in. Then somehow it missed the mark so badly that saying it “missed the mark” almost feels too generous. It did not even get close enough to miss. It did not fire at all. It just went limp.

One of the biggest reasons the second half feels so empty is that the MC practically disappears. For a show that seemed to build everything around that central character at the start, it is baffling how little presence they have later on. The story keeps moving, but without the same anchor, and it ends up feeling hollow. Instead of deepening the MC or giving them meaningful development, the show sidelines them so hard that it feels like it forgets who its own lead is. That alone kills so much of the investment the first episodes created. How do you build interest around your main character and then make them feel absent in the second half? It makes no sense, and it drains the show of whatever emotional focus it had.

That is probably the most frustrating part. A bad show that is bad from the beginning is easy to drop and forget. But a show that starts off good and then turns into a complete mess feels insulting. It tricks you into caring. It makes you think the writers know what they are doing, only to reveal that they absolutely do not. Characters stop feeling interesting, the story loses any sense of focus, and whatever tension or excitement existed early on just evaporates. Scenes that should carry emotional weight feel empty. Moments that should matter feel flat. Everything ends up dragging with this weird lifeless energy, like the show itself gave up halfway through and expected the audience to keep pretending it was still worth watching.

There is a difference between a risky creative decision and plain incompetence, and this felt like the latter. Nothing lands. Nothing builds. Nothing pays off in a satisfying way. It is not bold, it is not clever, and it is definitely not misunderstood. It is just a waste. A waste of a promising premise, a waste of the first two episodes, and honestly a waste of the viewer’s time.

I came into this expecting something special after that opening stretch, and what I got instead was one of the most disappointing drops in quality I have seen in a while. I am not even mad because it was terrible. I am mad because it could have been so much better and chose not to be. That is what makes it feel like trash on purpose. Not just bad, but wasted. Before writing the review, I'll start by saying that I've seen the first three seasons of Pretty Derby, so I know what I expected in terms of the story, but not the execution. Let me explain.
The movie is a "shortened" version of what happens in the other seasons: the umas running, having fun running, and aiming to be the strongest (naturally with different protagonists and supporting characters).
The problem, however, is that I lied about one thing: the movie no longer focuses on the goals I listed above. Instead, the whole thing is transformed into a shonen drama devoid of color, music, or any kind of ... positive emotion, making the work much more serious and macabre, going against the grain of Uma musume, which I also like. This is a negative point, but in the end, I don't want to give it all that much weight; now I'll focus on the categories that interest me.
Story: The story is bland, fairly predictable, and lacks a concrete, well-structured development (perhaps due to the fact that having already watched the other seasons, the characters change but the end remains the same). However, it's overall enjoyable, with its training moments, some dialogue, and especially the races. Overall, however, nothing exceptional.
Characters: Easily the worst category in the film. The protagonist is Jungle Pocket, whose goal is to become the strongest after being enchanted by the previous runner, Fuji Kiseki. However, she's completely lacking in development, has no real starting point as a character, and quickly loses her primary goal to Tachyon, whom she considers her rival. I felt like there wasn't enough material for a well-constructed and developed protagonist for a nearly two-hour film, so they decided to make him dependent on the supposed antagonist, Agnes Tachyon, whom I mentioned earlier. She's definitely more interesting than the main character, but they flopped here too. In the first part, it's handled fairly well, then, as if there were an excuse to make room for Jungle Pocket, he disappears with the excuse of having already found his goal by hiding his injury (which was also intended to be serious, but at the end of the film we see him running normally again, so it's a complete contradiction). In short, the two main characters in the series have had hints of development but have never been treated well from start to finish, leaving them full of gaps. Why did I write so much for these two? Simple, because the cast is finished; there's no one else. Manhattan Cafe, Dantsu Flame, the Jungle Pocket friends, Tanabe, etc. are all flat characters, self-contained, with nothing concrete. However, I firmly reject Cafe and Dantsu, since they were supposed to be fairly important characters, but unfortunately they fell flat.
Animation/Style: Nothing to complain about here; I think this is the category where the film absolutely excels without any problems. Sure, the colors were a bit dull, and sometimes the characters took on "strange" shapes while running or posing, but overall, this style and animation were a godsend for enjoying the film to the end despite the lackluster story and characters.
Moral of the story: for me, the true peak of this series was reached with the second season; the others, including the movie, are far removed from what Tokai Teio and company have achieved and brought. Given the film's rating, I was ultimately disappointed (especially the ending with practically nothing), but the pacing, the animation, and the overall enjoyment of everything without being overly affected by the film's length... I don't want to completely fail all of this, so it gets a passing grade, but no more. However, for those who want to delve into the essence of uma musume, I definitely don't recommend this film.

I am a romance anime connoisseur and the story that is being displayed is absolute hot garbage.
The characters are edgy and annoying most of the times, the main character listens to everyone but himself and is way too gullible and last but definitely not least THERE IS NO ACTUAL ROMANCE only trashy fan service with no smooth escalation of the relationship of the main pair.

I usually don’t do this — I normally finish a season before writing a review — but I just watched episodes 7 and 8 on a wave of emotion, and wow, this anime is amazing. First of all, the production itself is top-notch: the atmosphere is immersive, the visuals are gorgeous, and the attention to detail is impressive. I also have to give a special shoutout to the opening — it’s a solid 10/10, way better than Idol.

As for the story, I’ve watched the anime with a lot of interest since season 1, and I liked seasons 1 and 2 too. But season 3 is ... on a whole new level. One thing I really enjoy about Oshi no Ko is how it can switch from a chill, lighthearted tone to something dark — and this season showcases that perfectly. Starting from episode 4, the plot really picks up, the characters are explored from different sides, and everything feels more layered — if I can call it “twisty.”

The cast of characters is another strong point. Aqua, as the main character with his backstory, is really compelling. Ruby, who didn’t stand out much for me initially, has grown on me since the end of season 2. Kana is also interesting — a very realistic character — and it’s great that this season gave her more screen time. Her storyline wasn’t spectacular, but it was definitely engaging to watch. And Akane Kurokawa… a masterpiece. Since episode 6 of season 1, she’s stuck with me, and I think with most viewers too. Her interactions with Aqua are fascinating, and as he said, she’s incredibly smart — in many ways, she drives the plot. I hope she continues to get lots of screen time. Even side characters with minor roles are interesting and memorable, making the supporting cast diverse and enjoyable.

One of the biggest strengths of this anime is its originality. It stands out from others with its concept and idea: showing the dark side of the showbiz world in a realistic way. I love how it balances a lighthearted and dark tone — it’s rare, and very immersive. Every episode is an experience, and I always look forward to new ones.

And I would say this might be a hot take, but IMO, it’s one of the best new-gen animes I’ve seen. Out of what I’ve watched (I haven’t seen that many, but still, post-2020), and not counting Tokyo Revengers since I’m a bit biased toward this show:

It turned out to be a bit of a messy review — I’m not sure if anyone will actually read it — but I just had to get it out while I was feeling all these emotions. I probably missed a lot, but honestly, I don’t care. I’m ready to talk about Oshi no Ko or other titles anytime. I’m a bit too chatty today.

I won’t give a rating yet, but judging by season 3 so far, if it keeps going like this, I’d say it’s looking like a 9/10 for me.

To begin with, the animation and the overall art are extremely pretty! The action/fight scenes were fluid and the movements of the characters felt really natural. The blending of 2D and 3D elements was also done well.

The Saint, The Snake, and the soft sigh of boredom

There is a saying: "When the student is ready, the master will appear." In The Holy Grail of Eris, we meet Constance Grail—a young noblewoman from a family so legendary for their honesty that they seem woefully out of place in a world of political vipers. When a scheming acquaintance frames her for theft to ruin her reputation and steal her fiancé, Constance is utterly outmatched.
Enter the ghost of Scarlet Castiell. As one of the most duplicitous "snakes" to ever grace the court, Scarlet possesses Constance’s body, using her fearsome charisma and razor-sharp observation to expose ... the frame-up and save the Grail name. Indebted to this spectral manipulator, Constance agrees to help solve the ten-year-old mystery behind Scarlet’s execution.
The "deceased master training a successor" trope is a goldmine for character growth, but Eris fails to walk the path. The story is hobbled by a weak protagonist who refuses to evolve. I waited for Constance to emulate Scarlet’s charisma and grow as player in the court politics, yet she remains a passive observer in her own life, blundering into traps only to be rescued by Scarlet’s timely possessions. If the ghost is going to solve every problem, the living protagonist becomes an unnecessary middleman.
The series also misses a compelling "middle road" narrative. While Constance needs to learn to assert herself, Scarlet has just as much to learn from Constance. Despite her prowess, Scarlet was ultimately a "loser"—a snake who played the Game of Thrones and lost her head because no one trusted her enough to save her. There was a brilliant story here about how Constance’s reputation for honesty could provide the foundation Scarlet never had, allowing them to claim vengeance together. Instead, Constance remains friendless and lacks any quality that draws others to her, leaving the partnership fundamentally lopsided.
The central mystery fares no better. The series keeps its cards too close to its chest, often introducing key plot points in the same episode they are resolved. With a tiny cast of suspects, the "whodunnit" element is easily solved by process of elimination rather than clever deduction. Furthermore, the supposed romance subplot is non-existent; Constance lacks chemistry with everyone, leaving the male lead, Randolph, as a love interest in name only.
Despite these structural flaws, the most damning issue is the boredom. After a gripping opening execution, the pace slows to a crawl. It fails to deliver an enthralling mystery, a charming romance, or a meaningful journey of self-improvement. Even the dialogue is dry; I would have killed for some witty repartee between the saint and the snake to break up the monotony. While Scarlet is a stronger conversationalist than Constance, she still fails to provide the "cut and thrust" I would expect from a character with her reputation.
My Verdict: Overall, the series suffers from boring characters and a mystery that feels unimportant in the moment. I would advise finding something else to occupy your time.
For stronger stories in the "Deceased Master" genre, I recommend:
Hikaru no Go: The relationship between Hikaru and his master, Sai, is charming and engaging. It is exciting to watch Hikaru raise his level as a player under Sai’s tutelage (and no, you don't have to know how to play Go to appreciate the stakes).
Mob Psycho 100: Mob’s mentor, Reigen, stands as the pinnacle of how a great teacher can shape an unsure youth into the person they were meant to become.
Great Teacher Onizuka: Watching how Onizuka’s out-of-the-box, zany teaching methods break through to even the most troubled teens is both hilarious and emotionally resonant.
Yumi and the Nightmare Painter (by Brandon Sanderson): A fantastic "trading places" story where two masters of different crafts must teach each other to survive. It perfectly captures the "middle road" narrative where both characters grow and provide what the other lacks.

Journey Through Madhouse Episode #15: A tale of revenge, ninjas, and a treasure hunt, which doesn't aim to be an action anime but rather a historical drama.

The revenge and ninja aspects are somewhat sidelined. The true message of the work seeks to represent Japan's vision regarding opening its borders. As the season enters its last third, Fate/strange Fake is shaping up to be a pretty damn good show. While its reception has generally been indicative of this, it does have the potential to be somewhat divisive, and with good reason. It’s not a show for everyone, and yet its reach has been surprisingly wide, which, in my opinion, speaks of its qualities. While the review will be somewhat preliminary, I think I’ve seen enough to get a general impression of the kind of adaptation this anime attempts to be.

THE STORY:

The reason Strange Fake succeeds as a story, especially a Fate story, isn’t because ... it’s perfect. It’s not because every single aspect of it is brilliant or groundbreaking and it certainly isn’t because it has universal appeal. It is good because it knows what it’s doing. Narita deliberately introduces a giant cast of characters, as is pretty much tradition for him, which can be a pretty tough task. The more characters, the less screentime per character, that much is given. Thus, you should not expect every single one of them to be extraordinarily complex (although there are some notable exceptions). To certain people that might be a minus, but to me personally it is a feature of the story. The same way Fate/stay night is a story about a small cast of fan favorites, whose psychology and ideals are explored in detail, Strange Fake is a story about the event itself: the characters, while colorful and memorable, are pieces of a grand narrative, the purpose of which is to subvert every rule of the Fate franchise, while involving as much lore from the wider Nasuverse setting as possible. It is fanservice, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. And Narita is really good at writing characters that are memorable and likable despite their limited role in the grand scope of things.

Strange Fake is clearly a story written by a Fate fan for other Fate fans, and no matter how much people try to tell you otherwise, this is the main draw of the story. That’s not to say that you’re not allowed to enjoy it as a newcomer or that it doesn’t have enough merit to stand on its own. Many people who are vaguely familiar with Fate and Type-Moon are jumping in and loving it: be it for the stellar animation, music or just the hype factor. That is a valid way to engage with the show, if it works for you. However, it certainly doesn’t work for everyone, hence why the show draws criticism too: characters feel underdeveloped, worldbuilding is cryptic/obtuse, the purpose of anything that’s happening is a complete mystery. While it’s fair to think this if you’re looking at FSF from the perspective of someone who doesn't understand Fate, it must be stressed that this is by no means the fault of the story itself. It builds off pre-existing media and it expects you to have knowledge of that media, which is perfectly normal for a spin-off. Anyone who makes the conscious decision to start here must do so at their own risk.

Despite this, the story is just so entertaining that the lack of perfect lore knowledge doesn’t impede the enjoyment of it for most people. Whether you’re a Type-Moon veteran, a causal fan who has only seen the most popular anime versions, or a complete noob, there’s a good chance you might find something enjoyable here, hence why I tend to be somewhat open-minded about the idea of starting here. That said, it is absolutely not the best entry point in the franchise, and it was certainly not intended to be. Fate/strange Fake is not only a reference galore, but also a meta commentary on Fate as a whole. The more you understand this franchise, the more Narita’s brilliance and his love for this world become apparent. If you’re starting here, I do beg you to revisit this story later on, once you’ve dug deeper into this complex, and sometimes confusing, world.

THE ADAPTATION:

What must be mentioned is that this anime is not an original work, and comparisons with the source material are pretty much inevitable. As an adaptation, I think this anime is at the very least very solid, if not great.

While the general plot of the anime is pretty faithful to the novels (nothing fundamental was changed from what I noticed), it is certainly a pretty condensed version of this story. To some people that might be a negative, to others not so much (some people think the pace is too slow, others call it too fast: I personally feel it’s subjective). Some events are sped up, plenty of dialogue is cut and backstories are rushed through, that much is a fact. While the original novels do expect you to understand Fate, they still go to greater lengths to provide readers with useful information regarding the worldbuilding than the anime does.

This begs the question: did anyone really expect anything different? Movie/television adaptations losing details/depth compared to their source material is a story as old as time (even the gargantuan Lord of the Rings trilogy, which lasts over 10 hours gets accused of this). Production and time limitations are always a factor when adapting pre-existing works, and differences in medium make it difficult to translate the author’s vision 1:1. This is why even the most stellar adaptations in history have their haters, and FSF is no exception.

To this I say, this anime does an amazing job at elevating the parts it can through visuals and music, while keeping the main spirit of the work perfectly intact. Adaptations are always meant to be complimentary: their purpose is to give new life to existing works, to demonstrate a perspective on a story that the original could not. It is not meant to be a replacement for the novels, and sacrificing certain aspects for others is not necessarily “a butchering” of the story. The anime is perfectly in line with the spirit of FSF, which, in my opinion, makes it a great adaptation.

Some people would fairly complain that the novels are not necessarily the most accessible, as an official translation has yet to be announced. That said, this is by no means the fault of the studio. Fate is primarily made for a Japanese market, and the chance of a localization of the novels (or the manga) entirely depends on the success of this anime, which is why I implore anyone who wants to read FSF in English to support this project as well as they can. For better or worse, capitalism is a fact of life, and I think commercial art needs to always be judged with this in mind.

THE VERDICT:

Fate/strange Fake is not a traditional story. It is, in fact, a very strange one, as its title implies. Thus, it is not for everyone. And to be honest, it shouldn’t be. It’s chaotic and confusing, but it’s also extremely fun and, as a Fate fan, even somewhat thought-provoking. A1 Pictures are certainly doing their best to create a version that works well for its medium, hence why I would say that my expectations were more than satisfied. If you love Fate, I certainly recommend this one, chances are you will enjoy it. If you’re new to the series but this just looks cool to you, by all means give it a go, but be warned: you will not understand everything, and you should definitely give stay night and Zero a try (ideally before watching this). The choice is up to you.

A mediocre spin-off consisting mostly of unfunny jokes, fan service, and yuri bait. At the time of writing this only three of the four episodes have aired and I have not read the manga. For the sake of brevity I'm going to refer to Girls und Panzer: Motto Love Love Sankusen Desu! as 'MLLSD' from now on.

The central problem with MLLSD is that it attempts to adapt a 4-panel manga into 20 minute episodes. This is something that is hard to do well as a show can run the risk of feeling both stretched out and unfocused. MLLSD suffers from both of these ... problems. The show jumps around to focus on various members of GuP's gigantic ensemble cast which I can't criticise too much as this is the main premise but it still makes the show feel somewhat disjointed. A lot of the skits are repetitive and go on for far too long, almost like they're trying to pad out the run-time or didn't have enough material to adapt. This is not helped by the fact that most of the show is just generally unfunny and is at times outright hard to watch. There are some good scenes here and there but even when the show is at its best the skits still tend to overstay their welcome. The constant fan service is a little off-putting and sort of feels out of place as there is almost none in the main series. The yuri elements are a thing.... It mostly takes the form of ship baiting for the sake of either comedy or fan service. Around a dozen characters are either outright confirmed or heavily implied to be romantically interested in one-another. This raises the question of how seriously we're supposed to take these interactions and if they're canon or not.

The series feels like a missed opportunity to explore more side characters in depth. One of the major drawbacks of the main series is the lack of character development outside of the Ankou Team and a few others. This is an unavoidable result of the show's premise as each tank needs four to five crew members on average, and so in order to have large tank battles the show needed a large cast. While plenty of characters in MLLSD get a moment in the spotlight almost none of them get any more characterisation than what we've already seen. There's also the issue of whether this show is canon or not. There's a fair amount of tonal whiplash with some scenes feeling as though they could fit right into the main series, like Miho and Erika's interaction in episode three, while others are cartoonishly absurd like Anchovy's interaction with Andou and Oshida.

Is MLLSD worth watching? If you're really into GuP and are desperate for content until Das Finale Part 5 comes out, then sure, give it a watch. If you happen to be new to the series then my opinion would definitely be 'Not Recommended'. This show would be a terrible introduction to Girls und Panzer as it contains spoilers for the main series and gives no introduction to any of the characters as the audience is assumed to know who they are already. If you only have a passing interest in the series and are just looking for supplemental material to explore, then any of the manga spin-offs would be a better place to start.

Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu, or simply Egate, is an anime with a lot to like and is the type of show that, in theory, would be right up my alley. However, to my great surprise, it ended up being a forgettable experience that never really drew me in. While the anime is fantastically produced, well-paced, and depicts a reasonably believable picture of a mangaka's life, the comedy elements fall flat, and I struggled to like many of the characters. I can see why people like this, but it’s not for me.

Egate centers around mangaka Nana Futami and depicts different parts of her professional life ... alongside her assistant Hazama (Ha-san) and her editor Sato. Being more of a Slice-of-Life anime, the plot lacks direction; the episodes simply show different, random snapshots of her life and work. Lacking a clear premise, the show can feel like nothing is happening, and the events may feel pointless, especially given the oftentimes boring comedy. I don't think this anime made me laugh more than once or twice across its 13 episodes because the jokes frequently fell flat or became way too repetitive. Furthermore, instead of developing the plot, story, or characters, Egate simply introduces new characters or elements, making it feel incomplete. While this does add some much-needed nuance, the show never gets past that "surface-level" feeling. In spite of this, I have to give credit to the atmosphere and light-hearted feel the anime gives off, especially in the later episodes. Couple that with great pacing, and you have a nice watch, provided you don't look at it too deeply.

In terms of characters, well... I don't like them. The main character, Futami, is honestly really annoying. Her "thing" is that she's socially anxious, but her actions constantly contradict this. It isn't that she grew as a person; it’s just pure contradiction. For example, she manages various social situations well, and when she doesn't, it’s portrayed as something "cute" that bothers neither her nor those around her. Moving on, the other central characters are Ha-san and Sato. Neither of them is particularly deep; they are purely tropey, with Ha-san being the orderly "no-nonsense" type and Sato being the awkward person misunderstood as cold. While Sato does undergo some character development, it’s nothing we haven't seen before. As I didn't really like these three to begin with, the anime was a drag in the beginning when it was just them. Later on, however, more characters were added to the cast, such as Nashida, Nekonote, and Touko. They all improved the overall feel of the show and brought some much-needed variety. Most notable was Nashida, who lightened the mood and was, in fact, quite funny. Sadly, her character became quite repetitive by the end. Even though the characters didn't feel real, they each had unique personalities and depicted different sides of the manga business.

As far as art goes, it was quite good. The characters all look gorgeous, albeit a bit basic. It’s easy to tell them apart, and they all match their personalities and voices. The backgrounds, angles, and general animation were all well above average. In the end, I was impressed by the quality from Studio Voil, a name I’d never heard of before.

Building on the art, the sound and OST production is where the show moves from impressive to actually really good. First of all, the voice acting performances were amazing. The cast did a terrific job portraying their characters; they sounded very expressive, and the mixing itself was high quality. Special props to Miku Itou (Futami's VA) and Yuu Kobayashi (Nashida's), who really blew me away. On top of this, the soundtrack had some high peaks, moving beyond just atmospheric background noise to take a central place in the viewing experience. For the most part, it was above average. As a whole, I was more than pleasantly surprised by the world-class sound production in this small anime from a "no-name" studio.

Now, this is where it gets confusing: how much I actually enjoyed it. While I can't deny that the anime is terrifically produced and managed to be a good experience at its peaks, I never got hooked for real. As I've said, I didn't enjoy the plot nor like the characters, so all I can really take away from it is its stellar production. While I tend to enjoy these types of chill SoLs, I need a deeper cast of characters and a plot that doesn't feel like it’s just stalling for time. So, no, I didn't enjoy Egate that much.

In conclusion, Egao no Taenai Shokuba desu is a mixed bag. On one hand, it’s boring and unlikeable; on the other, the production makes it worth seeing. While I do understand why a lot of people like it, I can't fully recommend it. I’d say watch this if you know you like mindless CGDCT shows, or if you're just curious about the production quality. Otherwise, skip it. For me, it’s quite forgettable, and since I didn't like it, I won't be coming back for a rewatch or reading the manga. I will, however, keep an eye on Studio Voil in the future, as they did a great job.

For me, this was the weakest season of Baki. I don’t enjoy the aspect where characters visualize being hit by their opponent and then praising them afterward for how good they are. I know it’s one of the quirks of Baki’s universe, but it felt overused this time.

Naruto was the first anime that I had fortune to watch though I still like it,It will forever be wasted potential especially is naruto shippuden!

The main story itself is compelling enough that it doesn’t feel like reason just to get cool characters to fight it out (Which is the vibe I’m getting from Bleach from my experience of watching it so far. The story in Naruto is always expanding, new characters get introduced, new villains emerge and while a lot of the events in this series are set up for what’s to come in Shippuden (Especially in the Sasuke Retrieval Arc) it’s still worth watching ... to see where the characters grow and mold into the people they are later in the story (I say this because it seems quite a few people skip this series and start with Shippuden).
Not everything is flawless in this department, however. Naruto is notorious for having insane amounts of filler episodes and this show is one of the biggest offenders of this problem. It starts off harmless enough by having a recap episode, then a hot spring episode, a fun episode about Kakashi’s face and a five-episode arc about a race which would be fine if that was all it was. Instead of ending the show at the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, the show continues into 85 episodes of filler! Even for a long-running show like this one, 85 is an insane amount of filler episodes to have in a row. They even start the filler, right when the story was about to make it to the time-skip. While it was done to wait up for the manga, they could have just ended the original series and waited until they had enough material to start making Shippuden. Instead we got 85 episodes of low-quality random ninja missions that are close to unbearable to watch. I made it through the first few episodes of the first filler arc when I decided to stop and skip to the final episode. Even though this problem can be avoided now since you can just skip these episodes, it only really bugs me when I think of how long fans had to wait until the filler ended back when these episodes were airing. It may not be a problem now but it gets annoying when it still plagues Shippuden. But as I said before, you can just skip them now (Which is the most recommended option). So, in terms of the story department, Naruto does an excellent job considering all the filler is skippable.

The soundtrack is amazing. The songs are a nice mix of traditional Japanese music mixed in with badass guitar. The Main Theme of the series is one of the most memorable, iconic and beautiful pieces of music to anybody that’s seen this show. If you haven’t heard it, you owe it to yourself to listen to it since it’s probably the most amazing song in the whole soundtrack. In terms of Openings and Endings, Naruto proves once again that just because it’s a long-running Shounen, it doesn’t need to half-ass it’s theme songs. Every Opening is a memorable J-Rock tune and not one of them is bad. It’s hard to pick a favorite from these songs which is why mine is a three-way tie between Haruka Kanata (OP 2), GO!!! (OP 4) and No Boy, No Cry (OP 6). The ED’s, while not as good as the OP’s, are still good and get the job done as Ending songs. Wind (ED 1), Viva Rock (ED 3) and Ima made Nando mo (ED 5) are my favorites while the others are still good, but not the most memorable.
While I haven’t heard the Japanese voice acting since I watched the Dub, I can still judge the Dub and my god, is this a damn good Dub. Every voice actor hits the mark with every character they play. Maile Flanagan does an amazing job as Naruto and Yuri Lowenthal (who is one of my favourite voice actors) does one of my favourite performances from the show, as Sasuke who is one of the most iconic characters from the show. Tara Platt also does an amazing job as Temari considering that her performance is one of the main reasons that I like Temari so much. Other notable performances are Steven Blum as Zabuza and Orochimaru, Steve Stayley as Neji, Stephanie Sheh as Hinata, David Lodge as Jiraiya and Liam O’Brien as Gaara. Every other performance of the other main characters was also great but those were some of the best ones that were worth mentioning. If you couldn’t tell, Naruto also does a great job in the Sound department.

My favorite character in Naruto was Sasuke Uchiha. A fascinating character really… & the most misunderstood man in the story. So many people call him emo, childish , power hungry.. arrogant… evil.. so many negative adjectives.

Overall, As I stated before Naruto is very controversial. I genuinely enjoyed this anime, the show after The Final Fight may be filler, but if you are starting anime I can't recommend this anime anymore. The Shounen genre has a vast amount of anime, Naruto is one of the better ones believe me compared to other big three. Naruto is a legendary anime that could never be replaced, its extremely important to the community.

Mixed Feelings

I don't get it. That's all I can say. I just don't get it. This show is less about time travel and more like a convoluted high-school science experiment. You have two dudes with a mostly female cast checking-off every trope you could imagine (tsundere, moe, kuudere, etc.). Every female character in this show serves no other purpose besides being tsundere or moe characters. It's really just a harem plot where two guys play scientist on the second floor of a TV store. The MC is not Dr. Brown, or Dr. Who, or Dr. anything. He's an eccentric wanna be "mad scientist" who likes to ... come up with English phrases and corny jokes. The other dude is a fat pervert with no other endearing traits besides being fat and perverted. There is no "science," or "research" involved in this show. A lot of it is mostly jargon terms borrowed from big names in Western theoretical physics and quantum mechanics. The show introduces all these scientific concepts but vaguely explores any of it. It's like the author did a quick google search on CERN and Brian Cox and said, "Alright, black holes are cool. Let's put that in." This anime tackles the idea of time travel in a unique way but executes it poorly. It's less about actual time travel and more about "parallel universes." It explains this idea of time not being linear but branching out into different strands. For example, going back in time and preventing someone's death won't "change" the future. You'll simply create another parallel timeline where that person is alive, and another where that person is dead. And people's memories of the previous timeline will simply be replaced with the new one. Cool concept. But unfortunately, it just drags on repetitively for the first nine episodes or so. This ain't no Back to the Future where we see massive changes in the timeline. It's more like sending a text to yourself five days ago and seeing if your phone changed from a nokia to a samsung. I understand they were going for a more realistic application of time travel by changing the past in small increments. However, the execution just wasn't that entertaining. Everybody looks and acts the same regardless of how many times they change the past. The only thing that changes are their memories and actions from a few days ago. At first, I thought the show just starts out slow. But by the time I reached the microwave, I realized just how anti-climactic the payoff was. Maid-cafe here, fan-service there, little mention about IBM computers and the CERN Hadron Collider there. And that's about it. This is one of those shows where you need to google fan forums just to understand how exactly things work. Because apparently the show never explains it properly. I'll leave this at mixed because I understand this is a given taste among people. But frankly, I just don't get it. The story just wasn't as elaborate or mind-blowing as I was led to believe.

I have to admit, for much of the first episode it seemed like this might be a case of an anime having a mediocre name but be good. However, at the end of episode 1 it fell off a cliff.

The anime actually has better animation than I expected. The characters had distinct personalities. The world looked like it could be fun. It even also introduced what seemed to be a budding father-daughter type of relationship between the two main characters. However, the idea of making this child turn into an adult succubus at different times and the male main character referring to her breast ...
