Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu (A Whisker Away)

Miyo Sasaki is an energetic high school girl who comes from a broken family consisting of her unconfident father and an overly invested stepmother, whose attempts at connecting with Miyo come across as bothersome. Seeing Kento Hinode as a refuge from all her personal issues, she cannot help herself from forcing her unorthodox demonstrations of love onto her crush.

While Miyo is unable to get Kento's attention as herself, she manages to succeed by interacting with him in the form of a white cat, affectionately nicknamed "Tarou" by Kento. But Miyo soon realizes that she cannot help Kento with the various problems she overhears in her cat form and is now caught between two tough choices. Will she continue her relationship with him as a cat, or will she reveal her identity and risk what they have in order to help him as her human self?

my favorite anime movie. I started watching anime with a whisker away and I was fascinated while watching the movie. The atmosphere of the anime is really nice. The characters of the anime are also very good. The main character of the anime, Miyo, who is hyperactive, stubborn, but thinks about people's well-being and increases people's energy, is an enjoyable character to watch. next to him, another character is a fun to watch is hinode. cats and the cat world are interesting and very beautiful places and the art is beautiful, in short if you are sad, happy, tired, looking for slices of life anime ...

A Whisker Away/Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu review, originally written for my Letterboxd account.

There's a lot to like about A Whisker Away.

The animation is pretty good throughout, it has many sweet moments and explores important themes like hiding, and eventually accepting, who you really are in ways that work very well, despite being not very subtle.

I have no idea why this movie has such a high rating.

The MC, Miyo, is the most unlikable and annoying hyper-active kid in existence.

That NEVER changes. Throughout the movie, she basically gets every wish granted to her, despite not really going through hardships that can be taken seriously. Her personal life is barely explained because again, her personal issues are not important enough for even the director to take them seriously.
