Dai Satou posted on Friday that fellow scriptwriter Keiko Nobumoto died on December 1 due to esophageal cancer. She was 57.

Nobumoto began her career as a scriptwriter for the Tobe! Kujira no Peek (Fly! Peek the Whale) movie in 1991 and the Hiroshima ni Ichiban Densha ga Hashitta special in 1993.

In 1994, she began collaborating with director Shinichiro Watanabe in the original video anime and movie versions of Macross Plus. Nobumoto and Watanabe continued working on titles including Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Space☆Dandy. She most recently wrote the script for episode 15 of Carole & Tuesday.

Nobumoto also created the Wolf's Rain anime series, which was produced by Bones in 2003, followed by a four-episode original video anime sequel in 2004.

She also collaborated with director Satoshi Kon on the Tokyo Godfathers anime movie and Katsuhiro Otomo on his World Apartment Horror live-action movie.

That's so many impressive anime, wow. It's really sad that she's gone (and at 57 - that's too soon). Rest in peace...

Wolf's Rain was such a good show that rarely gets brought up, so this is genuinely sad to hear.
