'Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt' Gets Second Season for Spring 2017

The official Gundam portal website has announced that ONA series Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt will get a second season slated for Spring 2017.

It is based on the manga that is drawn by Yasuo Ohtagaki, which has been serialized in Big Comic Superior since March 2012. The first anime adaptation was a four-episode series by Kou Matsuo that was streamed online between December 2015 and April 2016. The series received a theatrical director's cut in June 2016.

It's still set in the Universal Century timeline. In that show they just call it the Reguild Century. They even mention the Universal Century at one point.

00 is probably above all the the non UC franchise Gundam anime. By the way do you count g-reco in the UC franchise? It's after the UC though

i liked that the psycommu zaku is in it, along with other neat mobile suits.

Thunderbolt is the best Gundam is years. I mean Origin and Unicorn are great too, but there is just something so visceral and raw about Thunderbolt, other Gundam series just pale in comparison.

HYPE OVERLOADED, CAN'T FRIGGING WAIT, I hope it will be longer than 4 episodes this time and I hope just as great animation as S01 if it's not greater, that's the best and most beautiful animation in the history of anime, hands down.

Honestly might be my favorite gundam I've seen. I am incredibly pleased to see a season 2 coming. I'm really looking forward to more jazz and the main character being amazing.

No matter how dull and empty/vain I found it, it's good to see that what first looked like a short advertising campaign (4x15mn almost full of robots) for plamo and manga transformed into a possible real series.

First season left me very impressed by how much story and character development they could show in just a few ONAs. Does anyone know if the second season will be ONAs too or perhaps TV series? I wouldn't mind, either way!

Great news can't wait to watch it. I liked this show so much i'm glad to know it will have another season. The animation, ost, characters, plot were amazing. One of the best mecha i've seen since long.

Thunderbolt was one of the best mecha and drama shows I have seen in recent years, extremely glad it is getting a sequel.
