ZUN announced a new edition of the guidelines for secondary creations of Touhou Project. The following businesses are newly banned:

1. Sales of 2D animations (3D CGI works and slide shows with effects are excluded.)
2. Sales of games via Xbox 360 Indie Games
3. Sales of works via App Store and Android Market
4. Sales of works that exceed the range of dojin distribution (e.g. oversea download services)
5. Works of excessive sexual depictions and works that would slander a particular person, group or race that are extremely socially inappropriate.

As for the works which had been announced before the announcement of the new guidelines, ZUN left the decision up to the creators whether they will release their works.

It should be noted that the standard distribution of doujin works through channels such as Comiket or Reitaisai is pretty much unaffected. Anyone interested in selling commercial works involving Touhou must contact ZUN directly for permission.

Well, I can't say that I blame him.

Just recently started looking into touhou and it seems like nothing will be affected by this announcement. Doujins are not made for sale, they're made by fans for fans, so I can't see this being a problem at all...

So there will no Touhou anime.

i guess my future plan to make a touhou anime will die :'(

I hope this will wake people up. Leave Touhou to rot as ZUN runs it into the ground. Like it or not, the fandom is what spurred the cult following it obtained and made it what is today. Despite that, ZUN treats his fans like crap.

yep, even he said himself that he was suprised at the popular reaction to the franchise.

but still, he IS technically rite, its HIS original works, your not allowed to make money off of it, though i think he just want to get som money off of it and wont let anyone else get it.

Agreed, although I do own a bunch of stuff that would now be considered "banned" by ZUN.

Unless you paid for it, i.e. it was commercially sold, or it's illegal depictions of the underage no you don't. He isn't banning doujin, just the SELLING of his intellectual property for PROFIT. Most of the people in this thread seem to be misunderstanding this very point. People can still make as much yuri as they like, but if they then ask for money for it, it's banned and, for that matter, illegal anyway.

Meh, the only thing that really worries me about this announcement is how it affects the Maikaze anime. Other than that, everything in there is fine.

I guess it means Maikaze has to give it away for free. And those seiyuu can't be cheap to hire... ; - ; *hopes Musou 2 will be released*

wow, now we have to fear censorship on both sides of creativity, from the government, and from the author.... pretty soon we aren't going to have anything left...

He's not censoring people this is basic copyright law. You can still make secondary materials but you cannot sell them for profit nothing will change unless you sell your material.

ZUN just protects touhou
the image of ZUN's touhou can be a lot different than some touhou doujin circle.

the original touhou can be broken if ZUN didnt do this.

although the 5th one is a shame :P

Not really concerning me as i'm not a big fan of Touhou but i can see where this is going.

I think most people misread this, don't think he is banning the doujin stuff just the real inappropriate ones and preventing people from selling to a large range of people via internet or whatever.

Meh in my opinion the secondary crap wasn't really worth following. As long as he keeps pumping out the bullet hell i'll keep supporting him.
