I've read some of the manga so far and its great, as expected! The anime really has some high expectations to live up to!

I will pass.
Considering how similar the name of this anime is to "higurashi no naku koro ni", it is probably horrifying. I dropped the anime after watching the movie. Originally, I thought higurashi was something like Ghost Hunt, but it doesn't seem that way..
I suggest you continue it. Higurashi is a series that needs to reach the ending for you to see its greatness.

Its story and backgrounds are not related to the previous series "Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (When they cry -Higurashi-)".]
wait... so what's everyone else talking about....
Well, technically it's the new addition to the When They Cry series (following Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai) by Ryukishi07 or 07th Expansion. The story is also set in the 1980's and although the location is completely different (the island of Rokkenjima) the feeling of remoteness and isolation is still present. The different series also share a couple of common characters, but saying anymore would be a spoiler. ;)
I see...Well in that case... cool anticipating it!

Personally I enjoyed playing the games and I think the soundtrack is fantastic! However, Umineko Episode 2 has left me in despair, so let's hope C74 brings better news for Battler et al. I believe this anime will air in late 2008 or early 2009 so all four Question Arcs of the game would be released before the season is over, providing the anime production team plenty of material to work with. Either way I can't wait to hear the voices of Battler, Maria and of course Beatrice!
