So happy that YRYR s2 was underestimated. It has an awesome start. Hope it can get a second week as well and then we'll have to see how much the event ticket inflated sales. I have much higher hopes of a season 3 now than I did before though. Also hope Jintai can manage to get a 2nd week as well to get over 5k. |

It's possible. I'd say Campione and Dakara H will beat YRYR's second week. Jintai would depend on how supply constrained stores were during its release week. It was sold out on Amazon for awhile but I see now it's in stock. If it was heavily constrained I think it could make it. But as you say, we'll see. |

Chipp12, now that's unfair... I want to see Jintai easily going over 5k and YY above 8k mark. At least Horizon's second week should be safe, it'll probably sell more than half new shows on their first week... Good to see better vol 1 sales, they should stay on similar level for remaining volumes too. I'm OK with 20k+ average, I was afraid it would get less than 20k overall. |

I am so so so happy that I placed my confidence in Yuru Yuri fans and trusted them to buy the BD on storefront (which means the Amazon stalker will grossly underestimate the final sales). This is what I said a week ago: "I am a bit more optimistic and I'd put my guess above 5k (assuming DVDs rank) with some chance that it may get close to 6k or even goes slightly beyond that." It turned out that it sold almost 8000 !!!! It is not "as expected" but far better than expected !!! Who could have predicted that Yuru Yuri 2 can fight Tari Tari to a draw in the first week sales?? (7728 vs 7758) Everyone thought that even if YY2 did not follow the Ika-Milky Course, TT will beat YY2 hand down easily. The Jinrui's figure is interesting, because if we follow the monthly BD sales ranking in Amazon, Jinrui is only a bit lower than TT but it turns out Jinrui only sold a bit less than 60% of what TT sold. This matches will the observation that Jinrui has a lot more buyers (proportion-wise) making their purchase in Amazon instead of storefront. Now I can answer the questions I raised a week ago about this week anime BD/DVD sales: - Is Yuru Yuri really going to sell a lot more than the Amazon stalker suggests? Will it be able to squeeze into the "top 4" of the summer season? After the airing of the final episode all 6 volumes have jumped in ranking in Amazon, but it cannot compare with Jinrui... A: A most affirmative YES, and much better than most dared to expect even taking into account the adjustment from 1st season's behavior. A very high chance that YY2 will be among the "top 4" of the summer season, and the fight is not between YY2, DD2, Oda Nobuna and TE (total eclipse) but is between TT, YY2, DD2 and TE now. - Jinrui jumps spectacularly in Amazon ranking after the airing of the "godly" final episode. Its volume 1 is now at #10 (all genres) and #5 (anime) of the BD ranking. And a whole "flotilla" of all the 6 volumes have made it into the top 25 of the anime BD ranking. A dark horse in the race for the "top 4" of the summer season -- will it spring a surprise? A: A dark horse that sells better than expected certainly, but not enough to squeeze into top 4. Interestingly, while YY2 fights TT to a draw, here Jinrui is at a level near Oda Nobuna (4876 vs 4278). Initial estimate of Jinrui was below 2000 so at 5000 Jinrui is a huge success (by contrast Oda Nobuna was estimated to be 3000 or slightly above, at around 5000 after 3 weeks the jump is not as impressive) - Is Kuroko no Basuke going to sustain the upward momentum displayed so amazingly by its first 2 volumes? A: Yes. The drop from vol.2 to vol.3 is very very small. Vol.3 still sold around 15000 copies in its first week. - Will season 2 of Rinne no Lagrange keep up with the sales of its 1st season? Or perhaps sell even more given its reception seems to be better for this season? A: We need to wait until Friday and hopefully we will have an answer. - Can Fate/Zero second season sell as well as its first season? A: Most definitely. The drop in terms of first week sale is less than 5%. - Same question for Horizon season 2. Fans now deem it will sell less than Sword Art Online but who knows for certain? A: Most definitely. In terms of first week sale vol.1 of the 2nd season even outsold vol.1 of the 1st season. Ejc said: Both Yuru Yuri ♪♪ BD & DVD were underestimated as expected. How does it compare to Season 1? A drop of slightly more than 20% compared to vol.1 of Season 1. Ejc said: How does Saki Achiga-Hen's sales compare to the previous volumes? :O For first week sales, vol.4 has around 44k versus vol.2 at around 42k. |

YuruYuri Volume 1-3 come with event tickets so that'd boost sales a bit. I'm waiting to see what sales will be for volume 4. Fate Zero 2 sells 41k first week. may sell 45k in two more weeks? Horizon II was overestimated. :O KuroBas volume 3 sells 14784 copies in first week. will it do so well to reach 20k? How will the second week go? Jinrui sells less than I thought. Let's see...next week we have: Reimeiroku Dog Days 2 Muv Luv Joshiraku Reimei and Dog Days....I'm very interested to see how these do especially Reimei. I have been tracking the Amazon BD sales ranking over the past week, Campione and Boku H never came above either YY2 or Jintai since they went on sale. So I think if we look at only sales in Amazon YRYR2 and Jintai in their 2nd week will still beat Campione and Boku H but given a significant amount of sale in its first week comes from storefront, more likely we shall see Campione and Boku H above YY2 and Jintai in 2nd week. For the minor title this season, so far the ranking in Amazon is pretty consistent over the past few weeks. It is like Campione > NakaImo > KoiChoco > Hagure and Boku H The Amazon stalker figure, which accumulates throughout the season has the following order Campione > Boku H > Hagure > KoiChoco > NakaImo What seems to be clear is that Campione should outsell the other 4 titles, but among the 4 titles which sells best would be hard to tell. |

I'd love to see at least 6k average... Whatever it takes to get my season three. I'll buy this show for as long as they make it. I think the key thing it how it clearly avoids the Ika-Milky-Course when Ika-musume dropped 45% in sales and Milky Holmes dropped two thirds in sales from season 1 to season 2. Yuru Yuri 2's figure is a drop of a bit over 20%, a more than respectable achievement for a 2nd season anime which is not big hits like Fate/Zero or Horizon. I am sure you have noticed how quiet the YY haters in 2ch -- imagine what might happen if the result is more ambiguous (say, a drop of a third in sales).... jmal said: - Will season 2 of Rinne no Lagrange keep up with the sales of its 1st season? Or perhaps sell even more given its reception seems to be better for this season? A: We need to wait until Friday and hopefully we will have an answer. The fact that it sold less than 2,093 already gives us our answer. =P Even the worst selling volume of season one sold 2,319 BDs first week. A shame. Oh well, I'm buying it. You are right. The answer should be NO. I now wonder how much worse is it going to be. You have season 1? I must say that while I enjoyed season 1, in my opinion season 2 is clearly better than season 1. Story is more engaging, the scale is bigger, the character's growth is clearer, while the main theme and the key worldview never wavers. And the animation, color palette and the music is as good as, if not better than, season 1. Judging from reactions in 2ch after the final episode, the consensus seems that it is an anime that goes against the original expectation a lot but not in a bad way, and people find it hard to hate. jmal said: For first week sales, vol.4 has around 44k versus vol.2 at around 42k. jmal said: Yeah, imported season one and also getting season two. My main driver is Madoka x Lan (+ Muginami). That it has a competent plot and good sense of humor helps too, but that threesome of heroines really sells it for me. This is how I describe Rinne no Lagrange in an anime forum: A yuri robot show. :-) :-) And I am a Yuri Fan. I was grateful when the director made it clear near the beginning of the series that the three guys WILL NOT fall in love with the three girls in lead role :-D phoenixalia said: just.....what if it had 5.5k average? would it still get a season 3? cuz I love this show so much. Fans in Japan seem to desire a proper 2nd season of Saki more, instead of a spinoff like Ashiga-hen. The release of the Saki BD Box gives some fans hope that a Saki-2nd season is being planned. |

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

jmal said: We were talking about whether Yuru Yuri would get a third season at that point. Sorry for the confusion. I am sure Yuru Yuri will get a 3rd season if they so want. The sales definitely shows the consistent popularity of Yuru Yuri. As for stock, up till now there is 1 or 2 stories from vol.1-5, around one third to half of vol. 6 and 8 and the whole vol.9 (the latest volume) of the manga have not yet been used in the anime. And then there is the spinoff manga "Omuro family" (focused on Sakurako and her sisters) which have 8 stories so far. Each TV episode uses 2-4 stories from manga (if it is not an anime original). So the current stock is enough to make 8 episodes from manga, and we may have an anime original episode like ep.11 in season 2. So it is not as if we are running out of stock at all. Besides the author, Namori, is famous for her prodigious output. So stock-wise I am not worrying. Given season 1 was aired in 2011 summer and season 2 was aired in 2012 summer, perhaps we should expect season 3 in next summer? |

I definitely don't expect to see more Achiga-hen, and much as I loved it, a switch back to Kiyosumi is probably for the best now. If Kobayashi ever makes enough progress in the manga for a sequel to be animated... It's already been confirmed that the remaining episodes of achiga-hen will take it up to the end of the semifinals. At that point the role of achiga-hen will be complete. The Saki manga seems to be back to the standard 2 per month again now, albeit still with short chapters. On the other hand, Achiga-hen seems to have slowed a bit from its former hectic pace. In other news: Akarin! =) |
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do. |

Progeusz said: You're right about F/Z graphic in most part, but I don't agree about Kirei vs Kerry have many QUALITY, I think that just composition effect from fast animation (its look weird on split second/pause etc)wishbook said: Fate/Zero's animation is fine at best. Most of the series consits of talking heads or not that great CG (Computer Graphics). Also, QUALITY everywhere, especially in Kerry vs Kirei. It's not surprising seeing Fate/Zero up there. It has the best animation ever, and I mean, the best non-movie anime graphics ever existed. It's worth spending the money for, at least for Japanese people. I think Kuroko will reach 25k this time. Look at anything from KyoAni and you'll know what can be called the best animation ever. 1. Hyouka from KyoAni maybe far more deserve to called have best visual ever for TV anime just from technical viewpoint alone. But I do love F/Z visual that seem like animated Visual Novel n the chara design is just like VN sprite even that causing the anime became talking head fiesta. As amateur I maybe enjoying F/Z graphic more than Hyouka . |

Glad to see Yuru Yuri 2 exceed expectations... hopefully the same can happen to Dog Days'. Also, it seems pretty clear cut now that Sword Art Online will be the seller of the season. |

Maybe SAO gonna beat IS average. jmal said: Ufotable's CG is great, why the complain :pfertygo said: But I do love F/Z visual that seem like animated Visual Novel n the chara design is just like VN sprite even that causing the anime became talking head fiesta. As amateur I maybe enjoying F/Z graphic more than Hyouka . Fate/Zero and Hyouka both excel visually, but in very different ways. Hyouka's stunning background and environmental art, visually eclectic "deduction" sequences, and insane level of character model consistency are its highlights. Fate/Zero, by the nature of its story, excels (except for the CG, urgh...) in intense action sequences and special effects that really have no place in Hyouka, which is a very different story and genre. But seriously I only can enjoy CG if come from them (although Gyo is pretty bad)or Sunrise, or some third-party like Orange. And CG usage in F/Z not just for object, they use it for dynamic camera effect, background etc, the aspect that people liking about F/Z visual. Ufotable love and excel in those digital aspect. But for traditional animation, Hyouka and KyoAni is a lot more stellar. |

fertygo said: Maybe SAO gonna beat IS average.[ IS sales is at the high end of the range of sales estimates made by fans in 2ch for SAO although most guesses fall within the range of 25k to 35k. There is one key factor that goes against SAO beating IS average though: That SAO is a 2 cour anime and IS is just 1 cour long. Given sales almost always trend downward through the length of the series. The average of a 2 cour anime will necessarily be dragged down by this downward trend. And this puts the sales average of a 2-cour anime at a comparative disadvantage against a 1-cour anime. |
