SynopsisOne day, a mysterious girl named Kaguya was washed ashore the island of Wyndaria after a great storm. She encounters Rick, a swordsman who wound up working at the island's bakery. Apparently, Kaguya is suffering from having lost her memories and emotions. In addition, the usually peaceful Wyndaria is now swarming with pirates who came seeking for the special spirit stone that is worn around Kaguya's neck. Knowing the situation, Rick and his co-workers, Nellis, Amyl, and Aerie decided to bring back peace to island and help Kaguya regain her lost memories and emotions.

First, I did not play the visual novel so I cannot say how faithful is this adoption to the visual novel. Instead, I will judge it solely on the anime itself.
Story: 4
Nothing much can I say than the synopsis, but the dialogue is bland. It is just your average conversation rather than big speech where it is life and death. The story moves really slow. I am three episodes in and did not learn much about the characters.
Art: 8
The art is done really well for the main character and the scenary. If you are a fan of Tony Taka's art, then this anime would not disappoint you. I found all the three girls are cute and maybe it is their eyes or their hairs, but something about their looks that I always look forward for to them. Scenaary is detail, but not stunning.
Sound: 6
Nothing much can say in this part since the music is so average. From the sound of it, I think they took the OST straight from the visual novel. So far, there isnt one that is rememberable excluding songs. It is not amazing, but better than the average character's insert songs we often seen in anime since they did hired Lia rather than getting the main character to sing it.
Character: 4
All characters are so boring. All they talked about are bread, helping people, and the typical daily chore. I don't have any problem with it, but three episodes in and I did not learn anything important about the characters. The side characters feel like your typical RPG characters where they tell you to do this, get this, give you hint, and etc. Nothing really stood out.
Enjoyment: 3
I have never felt so bored when watching an anime. I can tell this show has potential and if I stay with it, it might pay off. However, with the lack of character development and combine it with boring dialogue, I have to drop it.
Overall: 5
If you like Tony Taka's art and don't mind slow pacing story, then you will like this anime. Other than that, nothing about this show really makes me to look forward to the next episode. read more

Here's my review of Shining Hearts: Shiawase no Pan, you don't have to agree with what I have to say:
STORY (5)
-The main protagonist is Rick Elwood, a baker accompanied by three young ladies. Throughout the whole episode, they bake bread and deliver it throughout the island. Not the worst plot I've seen, but it can bore you after five minutes. The anime reminds me of basically Shina Dark without all the action and drama. The end of the episode insinuates something more might happen, but we will have wait on that.
ART (9)
-In truth, I like the art. The graphics though look more oriented to action anime rather than a medieval slice of life. Hopefully the anime will take that path instead of focusing on a happy village happily working from dusk to dawn.
SOUND (8)
-The soundtrack is very soothing, not really appealing to anyone yet not annoying anyone at the same time. The background music fits the mood. The voice actors actually fit the characters and the seiyuus are very notable. Rick's seiyuu Kamiya Hiroshi plays many lead roles such as in Angel Beats, Bakemonogatari, and Durarara. Does one of the characters sound like Sakagami Tomoyo from Clannad to you? Most likely it's because Kaguya's seiyuu Kuwashima Houko voiced her previously.
CHARACTER (7)
-The characters in Shining Hearts are what you call average. None really stand out that much other than maybe Shaomei Rin and Elwyn just because Rin is a catgirl that I am quite curious of what role she plays later on and Elwyn as she is the only one I know who as appears in Shining Tears X Wind, the alternate series.
ENJOYMENT (7)
-Some aspects of the series I find myself enjoying but some scenes I find very boring. Though it has the somewhat Spice & Wolf feel to it, there really isn't anything notable about the anime that stood out to me. It doesn't take much to impress me but I sometimes find myself wondering if this is all to the series.
OVERALL (7)
-This is what you call an average series. It's not bad but it's not that good either. It's boring somewhat but it doesn't annoy me whatsoever. Though it is only one episode so far, at least I can see a plot twist later in the future. But as of right now, the anime does not appeal greatly to me but I will still follow it to see if my opinion changes. read more
