Story: Pretty much all filler. Each episode stands alone except the ending and they don't really play off of each other. The series strays way too far from the Manga and doesn't explore the main parts where you see many characters develop themselves. I understand that the Manga has stories that end in one chapter and expansion is necessary to make the Anime but they could've handled it better. A similar style to the beginning of Full Metal Panic Fumoffu would've been cool where there were two stories split between an episode. Since chapters for To-Love-Ru are short, that would've been a great direction for this show to take. However, this show's filler made me feel incredibly bored as most of the stories weren't even adapted from the Manga. They were original stories. Only some of the episodes were based off the Manga. The ending was disappointing but you can predict that it'll go nowhere anyway. A predictable "plot" and being composed of mostly ecchi scenes gets it a 5. I'll admit that a few of the episodes, maybe five of them, I really liked, thought they were well done, and made me laugh a bit.
Art: Better than I expected for a series like this. It was pretty consistent for each episode. Nothing looked too horrible to me.
Sound: Nothing in the bgm caught my attention and the opening was just okay. As for the voice acting, I didn't really have a problem with anyone. No one was extremely annoying to listen to. They did a pretty good job here.
Character: I did enjoy watching some of the characters but a lot of them seemed neglected and didn't get much screen time, which kind of disappointed me. I know they're side characters but if they're going to show up more than a few times, make them do more than "Oops, you can see my panties" or accidentally get naked. I suppose in the end, I shouldn't expect more than that in a series like this.
Enjoyment: I finished it. That's a sign that I didn't completely hate it. Most of the episodes made me want to punch my screen though. They were that awful and stupid. So be careful with it. It's supposed to be comedy as well but it didn't spark too much laughter from me. I wouldn't say that they're trying too hard or anything like that. It's just that most of the pervy jokes, accidents and misunderstandings are things we've seen before.
Overall: I wouldn't mind a second series since they have more material to pull from and I enjoyed the Manga. It would be great to see certain stories animated. I just did not like how this turned out because despite the Manga being mostly stand alone stories, the creators of this show felt the need to make their own plots for many episodes... Would I recommend this to anyone? Not really since I can basically describe this as generic. It's nothing outstanding and there's a lot of "typicalness" to it. If anything, for those new to Anime it might just be their first ecchi comedy because if you start watching Anime, you'll run into these somewhere along the line unless you're very selective and careful.
Thank you for reading my review. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Hope this helped. read more
To Love-Ru is the anime adaptation of a manga under the same name. Throughout the series, we get relentlessly bombarded with sexual innuendoes, awkward moments and of course, a whole load of tits and ass to satisfy the expectations of ecchi fans that have taken a liking to this series. Let me give you an example of the awkwardness present in the first episode. Our main character is taking a bath when suddenly, a beautiful, busty pink-haired girl suddenly appears out of nowhere in his bathtub... and she just 'happens' to be naked... and his hand just 'happens' to be cupping her breasts... wow, really? Is this the sort of creativity that people come up with nowadays?
The plot of To Love-Ru is almost non-existent, as it is episodic, meaning that every episode has its own plot, similar to the American cartoon 'The Simpsons’. A legitimate plot only emerges in the last three episodes. While being episodic isn't necessarily a bad thing (Mushishi is an example of a very good episodic anime), To Love-Ru manages to screw it up by making the episodes bland and repetitive. Clearly, the staff is more obsessed with getting the perfect jigglyness of the breasts rather than giving the plot the attention that it requires. Even the fanservice is repetitive. In virtually every episode, our clueless protagonist falls victim to 'awkward moments', such as accidental tit grabbing, ass grabbing, and the occasional 'falling on top of half-naked girls' scenario. As a matter of fact, there are so much of these incidents that I’m surprised he hasn't been sued for sexual harassment yet. The plot itself is just another half-arsed excuse to cram in as much of these 'awkward moments' as possible. Thankfully, the producers decided to stay within its genre and didn't try too hard for the series to be an action or romance series; otherwise, it really would've been a nightmare.
The characterisation of the cast is hilarious in some aspects while dull in others. The protagonist, Yuuki Rito, is just the same generic male lead like you'd expect. He's as dense as a brick, and yet, like many other male harem leads, he possesses the amazing ability to 'somehow' attract girls without doing anything at all. While there are some intriguing and unique characters, the majority of the cast is has overused personalities and is clichéd. One factor that disappoints is the amount of character development that takes place. As a 26 episode series, one would expect there to be at least some character development throughout the series. However, the only 'character development' present are the lame stories of how each girl magically fell in love with the protagonist, despite him seemingly doing nothing.
The overall art or this anime is roughly average. The animation of To Love-Ru is surprisingly nice. This series is clearly higher budget than your typical ecchi series, probably because of the manga was relatively popular. The animation flows rather smoothly, however, there are rare episodes where the characters are slightly off-model. In most episodes, backgrounds, characters and plots are recycled. Like the majority of ecchi anime, the character design in TLR is accomplished in a suitable and thorough manner. The characters are quite appealing, and look exquisite, in order to compensate for their generic personalities which makes it confusing to tell them apart.
One of the more positive factors of To Love-Ru is its sound. The background music is very upbeat, which rather suits the high school romcom genre. However, it can become quite irksome sometimes i.e. this wacky music is played, even during serious scenes, and thus it becomes perplexing to the viewer as to what emotions are trying to be portrayed. The opening theme, 'forever we can make it', is a catchy j-pop song. It's one of the few positive things which I look forward to in every episode (this and the opening animation). Next, we have the voice acting, which is comparatively good, however, I often get irritated by the whingey voice of some of the characters.
Interesting fact: our harem king is actually voiced by a girl.
I'll be frank here. I didn't enjoy the series at all. Initially, I had high hopes for this series, but 2 minutes into the first episode, I realised that this was just another one of those typical high school romcom ecchi harems with over-jiggly breasts and a protagonist that's more dense than lead. If you're here for that type of anime, then this is certainly something for you. Otherwise, get off your computer, go out for a nice stroll in the park, and buy yourself a happy meal, cause I’m certainly not happy having wasted 10 hours of my life.
Both are pure service anime made for your amusement. Yes, there is harem as well as overly jiggly boobs. If you liked Rosario+Vampire, then you'll love Tu-LOVE-Ru, or otherwise. The female lead role both have lovely pink hair.
Same kind of harem comedy with a lot of ecchi and fanservice in it but absolutely nothing that can be considered story that took more then 5 minute to think of.
Both also havea pink haired female lead character.
So if you can enjoy one of them you'll probably also like the other.
They are both heavily ecchi oriented and with a bit of comedy added in. Both of the series focused more on the fanservice than on the story, which made the story very thin. They also have a pink haired female lead character.
They both have a boy in them who is loved by more than 1 girl and they are fighting over him.
They both have people fighting over the same person.Well in these cases, they have a group of high school girls fighting over one boy. They are both very funny, good story lines, and have really good endings. They dont just suddenly end like some others do. :>
Very Similar in feel and harem comedy. Both Girls have hot pink hair =)
They both involve a male that is constantly swarmed by females that long to be with him.
Moka-san's legendary vampire transformations and Lala's costume "dressforms" are similar, they both have pink hair and their personalities match.
You like stories that started from a "fated encounter" one day? Then look no further than this two harem, comedy, romance, and school setting centered series. The male protagonist of both series has this kind of encounter that changed their life forever. The main difference though is the scenario, one is that of a supernatural encounter and the other is an extraterrestrial-life encounter.
They both have awesome characters and funny/cute parts in the plot
Both have weak male leads but they both have a harem full of supernatural girls who fell in love with the protagonist as the story goes on.
Most of the girls in both these anime are not human and are from another area. The male protagonist are human and find themselves in a situation they are unable to get out of. The girls he meet are totally kawaii and it seems the male protagonist reached far within their heart in order for them fall in LOVE HIM WITH ALL THEIR MIGHT. The difference is the location they take place in.
• Both anime have jiggly boobs. ♥
• Both female lead have lovely pink hair!
• Both are harem.
A generic ecchi harem anime with a wimpy male lead and little to know story, if you actually managed to enjoy one of these series then you will know doubt like the other, because you obviously have very low standards for anime.
To love-Ru (one of my top 3) is a story about a kid named Rito Yuuki who is desperately in love with haruna sairenji, later on in the first episode (spoiler) a girl named Lala from the planet deviluke teleports into his bath unexpectedly. now the similarities in these two shows comes down to a very fine line. both of the shows take place in highschool and in both shows the people (other then the main character) are aliens/monsters. both of these shows revolve around a shy, inept main character that doesn't know how to make up his mind to even save his life. i highly recommend watching To Love-Ru if you haven't already.
Both have Harlems and good plots echie which is allways is a plus thay have there funny moments and all around good even if u never heard of thes titles please give them a try u just might like them
The main male character in these series got off in a weird start when he met a girl with some strange characteristics. Similar wise, the female character has a characteristics of a pink hair, innocent, and somewhat lovable personality and a school filled with comedy moments. The male character, at first felt confused and frightened, but soon will get used later on. Expect some romance, and some supernatural elements on the story.
The lead, Tsukune and Rito that is, are both shy and kind. Both animes are harem, and they both have the female lead, lala and moka that is, to be a sweet, emotional and optimistic girl with long pink hair and green eyes. Their both kind of the fantasy, romance, comedy, school, shounen and of course ecchi genre. I think they both have a good story line/plot, but not the best.. at least they're not predictable. ^^ I love both of these animes especially: "rosario + vampire" but that's just my opinion. i hope you can use this for anything, sincerely Mikkel M.C.F. ^^
Both about a guy who is forced into a marriage through a series of crazt events, and both are really funny with lots of comedy and cute girls as lead characters ;3
Same crazy setting where main character is stuck with an option of marrying (engaged) another girl or experience destruction. (...)
It's the exact same story with exactly the same characters who just look a little different.
it is almost the same in both stories there is a guy who find himself forced to marry a girl that he just met...
Seto no Hanayome is a MUCH better version of To-Love Ru. Both shows got similar theme, having the male protagonist get into a marriage that they know nothing about at first. Definitely will make you laugh like no tomorrow.
Guy is forced to marry a girl that he doesn't know. Girls are a little "strange" - San is a mermaid, Lala is an alien
Both are harems so obviously their are going to be crushes other than the main characters. In To-Love Ru Yukki was forced to be engaged after touching Lala's chest. In Seto, after seeing a mermaid's true form Nagasumi has to choose either marriage or death. Similar stories but Seto no Hanayome is WAYYY funnier.
Both involve a boy in school who get's unwillingly married to a girl who is not human. Both are full of humor and while To-Love-Ru is more provocative, Seto no Hanayome is just as good. To-Love-Ru revolves around aliens and Seto no Hanayome revolves around mermaids.
same story line... same... same....
loyal wife is very honor........
Very similar. Both series are about a school guy who's going to get married with the girl who is not really human. Extremely funny.
both deal with forced marriage
- Both anime main heroes meet non-human girls and are forced to marry them.
- Both need to deal with girl's families which are more or less hostile to them,
- Both anime are good comedies with CRAZY sense of humour.
Very similar: a magical girl - a mermaid, Fiancés stuffs and rivals
The beginning episodes presented new characters.
The main protagonist are far unlucky.
