Sounds and looks a bit too similar to 5cm/s

But it's Makoto Shinkai so it's a must watch.

2nd Trailer. It looks really nice!

Here's a dialog translation from reddit
M: That day, the day the stars fell, it was like...

F: It was like the landscape from a dream

F+M: It was a beautiful scene

M: After school?! Sorry, I have to work today

F: I'm tired of living in boonies, I'm sick of this lifestyle.

Please make me a hot tokyo guy in the next life!

M: Huh? Where?

F: Now that you mention it, it feels like I'm always having this weird dream, is it a dream of someone else's life?

M: What's this?

F+M: Is this? Could it be? We're switching places in our dreams?!

F: One thing's certain... If we could meet, we'd understand immediately.

M: No matter where you are in the world, I'll definitely meet you!

F: Who are you?

M: Who are you?

So very excited! Loved 5 cm per Second and Garden of Words, and this seems to be a story in the same vein fortunately. Children who Chase Lost Voices was OK, but didn't catch me as much as Shinkai's more realistic dramas.

Really not that high up on the "Makoto Shinkai is amazing" tree and this... well, this also seems like another all visuals thing.

EVERY FUCKING TIME.
Kotonoha is by far the worst of his works, it's uninspired, weak and doesn't excel in anything besides rain-porn, but somehow it became the MAL mainstream favorite and now seems like it's everything this guy has ever done.
Holy shit how I hate this community.

I'll have to disagree this time. I understand that you hate that movie, but if you think there was nothign else than pretty pictures on it, then you completely missed all the hidden messages, references, metaphor, and everything else that this movie was having all along.
Which isn't surprising since it's pretty much Japanese-only in the way it's made. It's very difficult for a westerner to catch on all of this honestly.
But still, you could tone down on this anime because clearly, your hate is heavily misplaced. Before being pretty animation, that movie was a love poem, and it's done very smartly.

You know it's gonna be good when there's an iPhone 6S in the trailer :P Still... looks amazing, I can't wait to see one more of your great works, Shinkai.

We're assured of beyond-gorgeous animation since it's Shinkai. The story, judging from the trailer, looks promising. I'll save whatever criticisms I have for it after watching it.

Definitely looking forward to it!

There's no denying the attention to detail and stunning animation Shinkai puts out, but the plot seems kind of bland.

And what's with the casting? Why didn't they cast experienced voice actors/actresses?

This movie seems unbelievable

He's the only person capable of making an anime I would rate higher than 5 centimeters per second.

Whether I find it better or not I know he won't disappoint me!

Aaah... i'm waiting for a great scenery.

Oh boy, don't even get me started on that.
Sometimes it's better if we pretend some things doesn't exist.
