I only got into anime a few years ago, so don't be too weird about what I haven't yet seen. Life is busy and I know my tastes (they are broad but thematically specific).

For me a 5 is average - nothing special, nothing bad - not a "50%" or an "F" by the American schooling system. Determine my feelings around that instead of getting confrontational about how Bebop isn't a 9/10

Agreed. I had some issues with it (though weirdly enough, the pacing wasn't really one of them, despite it seemingly being the biggest complaint for even a lot of people who enjoyed the show. like you), but I do think it ultimately deserved a warmer reception than it got.

Nice review for Magia Record. Your point about the show's use of subtle visual cues for characterisation was really interesting.

That aside, I’m glad my impressions of Magia Record improved with s2, even if it wasn’t as smooth as I would’ve liked it to be.
