Re:Zero LNs >>>>> Re:Zero Anime
I almost exclusively read print manga/novels. Digital books and web novels/comics do not have much appeal to me and that is also why I have so many unfinished series in my manga list.
Favorite anime: Attack on Titan
Needing little introduction, Attack on Titan took the world by storm after its release for good reason. Everything in this show is brimming with creativity and a dark charm, whether it be the characters, their development, the settings, the writing, the plot twists, you name it. Each episode had me hooked from start to finish with its premises and themes and analyses from both myself and other people has only caused my appreciation for this series to multiply. Isayama truly created a masterpiece.
2nd favorite anime: Violet Evergarden
An anime that boasts beautiful animation from KyoAni and tells the tale of a young girl looking to find the true meaning of love, Violet Evergarden is an anime that serves as the whole package of a drama and romance show: investing, both heart-breaking and heartwarming, and surprisingly down-to-earth. Seeing Violet's interactions with other characters, her helping them come to terms with their own dark and depressing pasts, her exploring her hidden feelings not even she realized were present, her high points and low points, all tugged at my heartstrings and did not let go, ever. The movie to this series also served as one of the strongest and most satisfying conclusions to any anime series that I have ever watched.
3rd favorite anime: Steins;Gate
The hypothetical existence of time travel, as well as various theories on how it would work if it were to exist, have always fascinated me, and this anime provided intricate details on such topics and told an intriguing and investing story through the perspective of a cast of funny, entertaining, and down-to-earth characters. Whether it be Okabe and Kurisu’s banter, Mayuri’s ditziness, Daru’s nerdiness and out-of-the-blue perviness, the interactions between characters never failed to amuse me. Without going into spoiler territory, the first half of the show largely serves as a more lighthearted comedy and sets groundwork for what is to come later, and the second half expands on those concepts and turns the show into a non-stop action thriller. I highly recommend this for anyone who is interested in scientific theory or an endearing plot filled with twists and strong character development.
